You Better Start Swimmin? or You?ll Sink Like a Stone
2009-09-04 01:18:00 Today I “attended” an educational technologies conference. Well sort of. I wasn’t there, but then again, I was. IWBnet’s “Leading a Digital School” conference was on at the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland and while I was unable to be a delegate at the venue, I had the next best thing. Many of the delegates ...
Is this Technically the Best 1:1 Rollout in the World?
2009-08-20 01:34:00 October 20, 2007 - Australian Opposition Leader, Kevin Rudd is on the election campaign trail making a promise that made state governments, educational authorities and teachers shudder in their boots. While holding up a laptop which he referred to as “the toolbox of the 21st Century“, he promised to provide a computer to every high school student ...

My Thoughts on the President?s Speech
2009-02-25 09:08:00 I didn’t watch it as I had an even to run for my college alumni association’s entertainment group (which I head). And anyway, if I everyone watched these things, what purpose would live-blogging serve? So, thanks to Ann and Steve, I think I got the gist of the specch. And at 8:34 Central Time, Ann wondered, “Whatever ...

My Thoughts on Yesterdays Trades
2009-02-19 15:29:00 The trade deadline is today and yesterday there was lots of activity. Will their be more today? I don't know, there's lots of talk and we'll see who makes a move. I will tell you how went where yesterday and what I think about the deals.Bulls get: Brad Miller, John SalmonsKings get: Andrés Nocioni, Drew Gooden, Ike Diogu and Cedric Simmons.Blazers get: Michael Ruffin (probably will be waived)This is a clear cap dump for the Kings. They want to save money and they realize they need to trade the guys on their team that have talent. I like this deal for Chicago. Rose can now pair with a legitimate low post scorer in Miller and Salmons can do more all around than Nocioni. Plus the Bulls need a shake up, it will spur them on for the stretch run of the season. The Blazers simply made a cap move. They give up someone who didn't play and say money, good move by one of the best general managers in the league. There were other minor moves around the league, but they were really just for ca...
My Thoughts As Michael Phelps Burns At That Stake
2009-02-06 05:32:00 Our three most recent presidents have all admitted to drug use.(STFU Bill, you inhaled)Robert Downey Jr. is a Hollywood darling, and we all know he's been high since he was six.We induct baseball players who admit to use performance enhancing drugs into the hall of fame.Steroid use continues to be encouraged in professional sports, albeit with a wink and nod. After all, there's money to be made, not to mention the book deal at the end of the professional career.A 23 year old kid takes a hit off a bong at a party and suddenly America is in the throws of moral decline, 7 year old children are sure to become crack heads, and unless they drop Phelps, no one will ever eat Kelloggs cereal again. While I understand the issue of legality in regards to smoking marijuana, it's the stigma of it that makes me insane. Our society likes to think that people that smoke weed are automatically lazy degenerates living in their momma's basement. Surely no one who does drugs could be an intelli...
My thoughts on Phuket flights
2009-01-23 10:52:00 It didn?t take many weeks of living in Phuket for me to need to make the trip to Bangkok. It wasn?t until I was in Phuket that I discovered ...
The RNC Chairman race- my thoughts
2009-01-04 17:41:00 Each of the 5 anti-Duncan candidates have unique strengths and weaknesses but there can be little doubt that any of the lot would be manifestly better than the current occupant.Between now and Jan 28th, Conservatives are going to have to cull the herd so that a credible run can be made against Mike Duncan who, by any measure, must go.A Newt One is not prepared to make an endorsement at this time except to say anyone but Duncan! Here are some of my observations of the 5 candidates in no particular order.Katon DawsonAppears to have the weakest case of those arguing their gravitas for the position. Dawson's case seems to be that he won while the others were losing and that his is the only southern candidacy. Objectivity would lead one to believe that Katon's GOP winning in South Carolina is not nearly as impressive as Saltsman in Tennessee, Blackwell in Ohio, Steele in Maryland or Anuzis is Michigan would be. Of course, the attacks against him for being a southerner and for a Country...

Real Housewives of ATL Reunion Show: My Thoughts.
2008-11-25 22:00:00 *Update* My thoughts on the reunion show:Kim was all over the place last night, and cancer Kim? Really? I mean I hope for her sake she wasn't lying, because if she was, she really needs help. And going back over some of the whoppers Kim has told already, I wouldn't put it past her to make up some stuff just to try to get sympathy. *UPDATE* Kim has claimed that she thought she'd "get killed" after the reunion show. Ridiculous.Deshawn was... wait was she even there? Moving on..Lisa. Last night, we found out that Lisa was how Kim found out about Nene's song through Sheree.. or via speakerphone. If Kim is saying that Lisa told her about Nene's song on the speakerphone, given Kim's track record, it's probably a lie, so I'm gonna go with Lisa telling the story to Sheree (in confidence) then Sheree blabbing to Kim about it. Real classy Sheree. And Sheree gets my harshest criticism in this post. First of all, Sheree, since you like to "keep it classy," classy people don't keep ...

My Thoughts On The Knicks Deals!
2008-11-22 23:01:00 The New York Knicks made two big deals yesterday. First, they traded Jamal Crawford to Golden State for Al Harrington. Then, they sent Zach Randolph to the LA Clippers for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas. These aren't really great basketball trades, but they're still great trades. The Knicks have freed up some money to run after LJ and one of his friends. Stephen A. Smith explains: I don't think a pairing of LJ and Amare Stoudamire would be bad. I agree that Walsh made great moves, but he's still got to back this up get the big money guys in 2010. If he can't do that, this was all done for nothing. But, like I said before, I have faith in him. I hope all of New York does, they've still got to employ patience. I wonder if they're going to trade away high draft picks to keep cap space open. I wouldn't be surprised to see them near the top of the lottery, especially since they lost their threat down low. Anyway, good job Knicks management! It feels good to write that.

my thoughts on life and death.
2008-05-17 17:39:00 last night while hanging out with some of the lounge lizards, one of the lounge lizards told me non-chalantly that he had an angioplasty operation done on him recently. when he told me this, I looked into his eyes, and saw just how seriously it affected him.this was heavy duty stuff to him.when I asked him how he felt about the operation, he sort of tried to hide the fact that he was scared. but I learned long ago that you cannot hide the truth when you look into someones eyes.not wanting to dive too deeply into my friends feelings, I left him with bangkokbuddy's story about the "boeing study on life".in a nutshell, for every year you work after age 55, you lose 2 years of your life.http://www.seeya-downthero-ad.com/InformationPage/WhyRetir-eYoung.htmlover the years, there has been a lot of discussions about the validity of this study. and I always tell people this... the fact that so many people and institutions fight so hard to de-legitimize the study - tells me that there must be ...

My Thoughts on Life
2008-04-24 23:38:00 What is the point of consciousness if not to harness knowledge? Why spontaneously form a miraculous phenomenon such as life if to only sweep it away without rhyme or reason. My thoughts five years later
2008-03-22 18:01:00 Yesterday was a day when former supporters of the invasion and occupation documented how wrong they were. For Andrew Sullivan it was: Historical Narcissism.Narrow MoralismUnconservatism.Misreadi-ng BushJohn Cole admits he was wrong about everything including "I was wrong not to trust the dirty smelly hippies." On the other side Jim Henely tries to explain why he got it right. I think what Jim ends up saying is that he was paying attention. Now I opposed the invasion and occupation - I got it right. But I didn't get it all right, I am guilty of under estimation. Now I knew that the neocons and the AIPAC Zionists were delusional and crazy but I underestimated just how delusional and crazy they were. I didn't fully appreciate that the only way you could get them to listen to you was to say exactly what they wanted to hear. And that worked even if you were a known con man and Iranian spy (Chalabi). I underestimated how little these mad men knew about the Middle East and as important how...

My thoughts on MicroHoo
2008-02-14 23:28:00 In response to post : Is Yahoo Really Worth More Than What Microsoft Offered Probably yahoo do not accept ANY offer, they try to be independent. IMO, in the current recession Yahoo does not worth for more than $25 a share. I guess, MS already know that Yahoo do not accept the offer at $30, if the talk goes for long time(10+ months) that is not good for GOOG (MS initiated a proxy war?). MS may try to build a better search engine instead. I like to see that Yahoo should buy BIDU, MS should buy CMCSA, Google should buy a mobile operator. If it happens, there would be a heavy competition and lot of innovations. that’s good for everyone. thanks saran at least, for the next 20 years MS going to burn wire/wireless networks more than anyone else. MS needs a smooth transition (operators not even allowing bit torrent, they invested lot of money so they are right to claim) from desktop OS/Games/Office to live OS/Games. Comcast is a good choice because they are close to reaching th...

Selling Candy In Front Of The Bank
2008-02-09 00:32:00 I went to Washinton Mutual today, and had to wait in a short line to go to the ATMs. There was a girl, maybe 9-12 years old, and she was selling candy for $2 each. When someone walked by, she's say, "Excuse me, would you like to buy a candy for my school?" Then the person would come up with some silly, generic, random response, "Sorry, I'm trying to lose weight" or "I gave it up for lent" or "I don't have money on me right now, I just deposited money, I didn't take money out" Why did all these people have to make up random excuses. In my opinion, it's more like "too much information" excuses. There's a little girl asking if you want to buy candy, and you can just say "No" or "No, Thanks" or something like that. Why do they have to give a reason. I'm sure that little girl could care less why you won't buy her candy. A simple, "No." would do. There was one lady, who said "I shouldn't have too much junk food... but I'll donate a dollar to you." That's cool. Then...
