Perfect Example of Narcissism
2008-07-14 16:56:00
This man makes me sick to listen to his ME ME ME attitude of pure Narcissism! Gale Warnings posted this audio, and has more information about these messages on the blog. You change the situation around a bit, and it sounds like some preachers I have heard about! I found a list called the Narcissiam checklist for pastors, but I think it applies in other areas of our lifes as well! I thought it was a perfect example of Narcissism! What do you think?

The Narcissism of Communication
2008-05-28 21:33:00
All communication is narcissistic. By writing something that I intend for others to read, I am saying that my idea — the one expressed in this, the prior, and next sentences — i-s good enough, clever enough, interesting enough, that people should pay attention to it. By making any effort to communicate with anyone, I’m saying that I’m worthy ...
Hillary Clinton: narcissism and entitlement
2008-04-27 11:42:00
Barack Obama is clearly the Democratic candidate of choice. On paper he is unbeatable. There is no way he can lose the pledged delegate lead, short of imploding.Hillary Clinton claims she is more electable. If the superdelegates were to hand her the nomination despite being behind on the popular vote and the pledged delegate count, it would fracture the party and might very well pave the way for a McCain victory - a victory that would be aided by the many Obama supporters who would almost certainly sit out the vote as a form of protest.Clinton's quixotic candidacy is being driven by ego, hubris and an inappropriate conviction of entitlement. Narcissism touches everything she does - all the way from her carefully choreographed cosmetic image to stories she has been spinning that don't stand up under scrutiny - the Bosnia "under fire" fiction being the most recent example. There seems to be no limit to what she is prepared to say and do if it looks as though it might enhance her imag...

Abuse in the Narcissism, Addictions, and Abuse Equation
2008-03-04 15:41:00
Can you relate to this topic because you're in a relationship permeated with your partner's narcissism, addictions, and abuse? If you have read other articles I have written at my website, you probably know by now that so often, narcissism, addictions, and abuse occur together. Perhaps you've experienced domestic violence in the form of verbal abuse, emotional abuse, economic abuse, or sexual abuse perpetuated by your spouse with his unhealthy levels of narcissism? And while there is a chance you have known the pain of physical abuse as well, as I have pointed out before, the man who is narcissistic yet successful in the work arena-though not in his family life, certainly-is not as inclined to use physical abuse as are some abusers. After all, he doesn't like to raise eyebrows when he can get what he wants through these other forms of abuse or domestic violence anyway. The Verbally Abusive Relationship is Still an Abusive RelationshipAre you inclined to minimize the amount of abu...

Narcissism

“What do you do when you reach the end of internet? You know those days when there is absolutely nothing to read anywhere online. What do you do?” BigGeek asked me out of the blue one night. He was reading his cases; I was vegging out in front of the TV. “It is a problem.” I admitted. “Rather, is used to be a problem before I started this blog. Now I just read my old posts. It’s guaranteed good reading.” I said trying to hide a smirk. BigGeek broke out in a wide grin. “I knew there was a really good reason I married you.” He grinned and went back to his work. And here are mummyjaan and then Parul tagging me to be narcissistic (someone knows my secret) and what better person to wallow in self glory than me, huh? Narcissism to Blame for Liturgical Abuse
2007-12-04 14:35:00
Oh that every priest in America would read this essay on our narcissistic culture. Reading through this article I am constantly reminded of my own parish. Here's an excerpt:In 1990 Thomas Day, in Why Catholic Can’t Sing, gave some clear examples of the narcissistic phenomenon in the Catholic liturgy — a phenomenon that he calls “Ego Renewal.” “It is Holy Thursday and we are at the solemn evening mass in a mid-western parish. The moment comes for the celebrant of the Mass, the pastor, to wash the feet of twelve parishioners, just as Christ washed the feet of the apostles at the last Supper. During this deeply moving ceremony, the choir sings motets and alternates with the congregation, which sings hymns. Finally, this part of the liturgy comes to a close with the washing of the last foot. The music ends; you can almost sense that the congregation wants to weep for joy. Then, Father Hank (this is what the pastor wishes to be called) walks over to a microp...

Autism and Narcissism
2007-07-17 15:07:00
Ask: I wanted to ask if narcissism and autism are related. I know a few autists and they are really self-centered! Answer: One of the key traits in people with autism is that they lack what is known in psychology as a ‘theory of mind’, which is also known as ‘mindblindness’. Theory of mind (T.O.M) means the ability ...

Post-Colonial Narcissism - Part 3a: Wooly Thinking
2006-08-29 19:48:07
Originally, this was going to be just one post. However, documenting mistakes in some of the reasoning instrumental to the polarised revisionism of the History Wars, even within a finite terms of reference, is proving laborious. Hence, I have chopped the blog entry up somewhat, and will be serving it to you in smaller chunks... Introduction This is the third and the last of the blogs that I will be writing under this series, or at least it is the last that I promise to do under the title of Post-Colonial Narcissism (PCN). I may use the title/term again, but then again, it may be superfluous as a lot of what PCN describes can be seen as part of the collective motivation behind the revisionists in the Australian History Wars. Last time I wrote in this line of blogs (here), it was to demonstrate an example of cherry picking of data (including material omissions and incorrect/unsupported interpretations) in order to support a pre-determined set of premise (the pre-determination/preju...
The narcissism of depression or the depression of narcissism and adolescenc
1970-01-01 00:59:00
Despite the fact that it has long been recognised that narcissism can contribute to depression, we have become accustomed to referring to depression mostly in terms of a neurotic disturbance. The author highlights the difference between the narcissistic elements in depression, which is based on guilt, and the graver narcissistic depression, which is governed by shame.
