NASCAR changes policy and now will publicly disclose fines in 2012 - Fans a
2012-01-25 23:38:00
Earlier today, NASCAR issued a statement on how fines will be disclosed to the public beginning this season: NASCAR will no longer issue fines that are undisclosed. We looked at this issue from every angle and gathered feedback from the industry. While there are always sensitivities related to sponsor relationships and other leagues may continue issuing disclosed and undisclosed fines, NASCAR has decided that all fines moving forward will be made public after the competitor or organization that has been penalized has been informed. (Read Statement at NASCAR.com)As a NASCAR fan, I have seen this sport change over the years from its stars to its policies and while the "Boy's Have at it" policy hasn't changed that let's drivers wreck each other at will if they see fit, at least NASCAR is making the effect to make changes as needed in the sport and today's statement that NASCAR will now publicly disclose fines in 2012 is a good step forward. Basically as one NASCAR fan commented o...
Ford unveils the new 2013 NASCAR Ford Fusion during the NASCAR Media Tour.
2012-01-25 01:37:00
Earlier today during the NASCAR Media Tour, Ford unveils there new 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racecar that will debut at the 2013 Daytona 500. The new racecar does in fact look more similar to the street version than the 2012 NASCAR racecar. However the new racecar add more including four doors (decals), but not bad, they are getting better. (Photo Credit: Ford Racing via Jayski.com) (Photo Credit: Autoguide.com)

(Photo Credit: Barrett-Jackson.com official website) Welcome readers, its January and that can only mean one thing for us car enthusiasts, its time for the 2012 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, AZ. And while I'm not going to be their, I do have a great seat for the action, right in front of my television set and I'm tuned in to SPEED Channel. One auction vehicle that rolled across the auction block that got my attention earlier tonight was Brad Keselowski's Talladega 2010 winning racecar from Penske Racing that hammered away for $250k, plus an additional $350k from 2 other people being donated to the charity with ALL PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT PARALYZED VETERANS OF AMERICA. I do love it when NASCAR invades the Barrett-Jackson especially with racecars being auctioned off for charity.
10 NASCAR drivers fans should watch during the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Serie
2012-01-19 22:26:00
After a two month active off season that featured several announcements and changes, last week, NASCAR teams were hard at work at Daytona International Speedway for NASCAR?s Winter Testing. SPEEDtv.com and SPEED TV televised the 3 day event live and in watching most of the coverage, this was the first time for fans and media to see most of the off season changes at work. 1. A.J. Allmendinger: In 2012, I truly believe that this is just about AJDinger?s last chance to find success in NASCAR?s elite series, but I really do like what I have seen so far with testing with A.J. Allendinger driving the #22 Shell-Pennzoil Dodge for Penske Racing. I believe that this is the year for him to break out and win his first Cup Series race. He has the talent, the equipment, the people and a good teammate in Brad Keselowski, so let?s see what he can do. 2. Jeff Burton: Burton hasn?t been very successful in the Cup Series in the last few years now, but he does have a new winning crew chief joining...
Predictions: Top 10 biggest NASCAR storylines to watch in 2012.
2012-01-04 00:12:00
As the start of the 2012 NASCAR season approaches towards the end of next month (February 2012) with the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway followed by the 2012 Daytona 500. Today I want to share my thoughts and insight with my readers with my predictions for the upcoming 2012 NASCAR season including mainly the Sprint Cup Series. Here are the top 10 storylines to watch in 2012. 1. Another ?Boy?s Have at it? moment will force NASCAR to finally change the rules package in the sport and wake up at the same time. During the 2012 NASCAR season, it is a safe beat that their will be another ?Boy?s Have at it? moment so long as NASCAR drivers know that there is little penalty by NASCAR. And finally that moment will lead to a reaction that NASCAR will make changes to the current rules in the sport regarding where a hard line will be and what the penalty will be. Letting the drivers run the sport without much in the form of penalties isn?t the way to run such an amazing ...
Top 10 Best and worst surprises of the 2011 NASCAR season including Boy?s H
2011-12-25 18:01:00
Merry Christmas readers, as 2012 is just over a week away and even Daytona testing a few weeks away, today I want to take a final look back at the 2011 NASCAR season including the Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series in the form of surprises of 2011. In 2011, there were several things that caught my attention, some were good, while others where bad or even just plain wrong. Well I have outlined the top 10 best and worst surprises of the 2011 NASCAR season and I bet at least one of them left you saying OMG! 1. Best - Tony Stewart narrowly wins the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship on a wins tiebreaker over Carl Edwards. Need I say more, there?s nothing like a championship battle that goes down to the final lap in the final race of the season with a winner take all deal. 2. Worst - Kyle Busch finally gets NASCAR?s attention after taking NASCAR?s saying of ?Boy?s Have at it? way over the top with a violent incident under caution between him and...
More NASCAR off-season changes with SPEED news no where in sight.
2011-12-18 22:14:00
After reading an interested article over The Daly Planet called "Week in Review: Off Season Changes", here's my opinion on it. Three simple things: 1. NASCAR Chairman Brian France is at #17, really??? Giving Brian France this award is like giving the lady from National Grid an award, neither deserve it, because they didn't do their jobs correctly. 2. NASCAR need to partner with another network instead of making their own. How about CBS or NBC. There has to be a good network that can handle NASCAR's programming especially live ones that is both in homes all over the world and online. 3. SPEED is changing and NASCAR isn't included in these changes. SPEED Channel, the automotive channel without Motorsports or NASCAR. By the way SPEED, come on, no Speed Center even on Sunday's, give us a break.

NASCAR Fines Kurt Busch For Actions At Homestead-Miami Speedway
2011-11-25 22:35:00
Earlier today, NASCAR dropped a $50k fine on Kurt Busch for ?Angry Bird? in the NASCAR garage area a few laps into the Ford 400 at an SUV that was associated with the First Lady Michellle Obama (her people), and his actions towards ESPN media reporter Jerry Punch.DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 25, 2011) NASCAR has fined Kurt Busch $50,000 for his actions during the Nov. 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.NASCAR determined that Kurt Busch violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing ? inappropriate hand gesture; abusive language) of the 2011 NASCAR Rule Book.In issuing the penalty, NASCAR cited Kurt Busch?s ?poor judgment in making an inappropriate hand gesture? when he drove his car into the garage early in the race after it experienced transmission problems. In addition, NASCAR said Kurt Busch showed ?disrespect towards a media member,? an incident that followed similar inappropriate media confrontations earlier in the season. (NASCAR PR - NAS...

2011-11-23 22:51:00
Last Sunday before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season finale, the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, that saw Tony Stewart capture his 3rd Cup Series title by winning the race, made headlines before even the drop of the green flag. You see, (President Barack Obama?s wife) the first lady Michelle Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden?s wife, Dr. Jill Biden were in attendance to be the grand marshals of the race and when they were introduced and gave the command ?Gentlemen, Start Your Engines?, they were booed by several NASCAR fans in the crowd. You could hear the booing on the live ESPN telecast and it was disrespectful. The fact is, you just don?t boo the first lady, nor do you boo women in general. However, if you want to voice your displeasure of someone or in this case, you didn?t like the First Lady being at a NASCAR race and that would include me, then try being silent. I truly believe that a silence is a bigger response makes a statement than booing someone, besides you?re no...
Michelle Obama Booed At NASCAR; Racism?s Alive In USA

Let’s slosh this around our heads a couple thousand times: Michelle Obama Booed At Nascar. Er, Michelle Obama Booed At Nascar? Yes, Michelle Obama, the American First Lady, was booed At NASCAR. If you really think about it, the people who did boo pretty much committed an act of treason against the State. And for (Read More...)
Congrats to Tony Stewart on winning the Ford 400 and the 2011 NASCAR Sprint
2011-11-20 23:00:00
(Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)Oh man what a race, what a day. The Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway not only lived up to the hype, but surpassed it with this tight points battle as it was a dead heat between Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart coming in to Homestead and it was a dead heat between the two down to the end.The last 30 laps were heart pounding, but of course so was most of the race in watching Stewart carve his way through the field a few times after the team had to fix a big hole in the grill from what I would say was parts from Kurt Busch?s blown transmission. But damn, what a drive for Tony Stewart, he drove from the back to the front a few times including a four wide pass to do the only thing he could do, win the race, to win the championship and that?s exactly what Tony Stewart and the entire #14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet Team did today.Yes Stewart and Edwards tied in points with the tiebreaker of most wins goes to Tony Stewart. That is one hell of a win fo...
NASCAR: Brad Keselowski holds off Ricky Stenhouse and Carl Edwards to win t
2011-11-19 23:09:00
(Photo by Jonathan Ferrey/Getty Images)Damn, that was one hell of a finish to the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series with Brad Keselowski holding off a hard charging and sliding Ricky Stenhouse and Carl Edwards to win one wild Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.I really thought that Carl Edwards was going to move Brad Keselowski out of the way at one point with 2 laps to go. But out of nowhere, comes Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (the new 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Drivers Championship) to pass Edwards and challenge Keselowski for the victory. And of course with Carl Edwards finishing 2nd, congrats to the #60 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford on winning the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Owners Championship. Well I have to say that that is cool because I am a fan of Jack Roush (I?ve meant Jack Roush up here in Massachusetts back in 2009 at a local car show) and Roush-Fenway Racing.Just one thing, ESPN needs to cover the race, not just the championship points standings during a race. ESPN could have just...

2011-11-19 23:06:00
(Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)Well ladies and gentlemen, that?s all folks for the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series as Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Drivers Championship and the #60 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford won the Owners Championship. Roush-Fenway Racing sure did one hell of a job in 2011 and they all earned the two championships that they won today.* Congrats to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for winning the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Drivers Championship, he earned it.* Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won 2 races in 2011, both at Iowa Speedway including that wild finish at Iowa where Ricky Stenhouse Jr. came off of turn 4 and half way to the finish line, he blow an engine, but Edwards who could see nor control his car, nailed Stenhouse Jr. across the line for the race win.* Congrats to the #60 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford wins the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Owners Championship.* Hats off to Elliott Sadler for a good year and finishing in 2nd spot in points.* Congrats to...
Congrats to Austin Dillion for winning the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck
2011-11-18 23:11:00
(Photo Credit: RCR via Email) Note: I replaced the previous photo of the entire field coming to the green with this championship photo. The previous photo was the only one I could find last night when I was writing on Dillion winning the championship. And this photo is perfect for this article. That?s all she wrote, the Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway was called due to rain and even though Johnny Sauter did everything he could by leading the most laps and winning the race. Austin Dillion (who was 10th) has just won his first Camping World Truck Series Championship. That is cool to see, he deserves it.But I do have to give it to Johnny Sauter, he did do everything he could to win the championship today and he was even holding off the hard charging Cup Series drivers of Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick. And also good job to James Bouescher as well, he was in the hunt.* Austin Dillion wins the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Drivers Championship by 6 points.* Joey Coulter wins...
Fan Insight: Winners & Losers of NASCAR AAA Texas 500 at Texas ? Tony Stewa
2011-11-07 23:31:00
(Photo by John Harrelson/Getty Images for NASCAR)As the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season heads down the final stretch of the season, here is my final thoughts on yesterday?s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway:Notebook:1. Finally NASCAR wakes up and instead of taking the punishment from the NASCAR community (fans, drivers, teams, owners and etc.), NASCAR parks Kyle Busch for the rest of the Texas Motor Speedway weekend after he blatantly retaliated on Camping World Truck Series driver Ron Hornaday during the early stages of the race. This was way overdue for Kyle Busch and he deserved it. Of course I would love to have seen Busch be suspended for the rest of the 2011 NASCAR season and that includes just staying home and no access to racetracks, but at least NASCAR parked him for the rest of the weekend. But it was cool seeing Kyle Busch on the pit box watching his #18 M&M?s Toyota go around the racetrack without him driving it. He looked bored at times, perfect, I hope he fi...
My Take: NASCAR parks Kyle Busch for rest of NASCAR Texas weekend after on-
2011-11-05 22:34:00
NASCAR has parked Kyle Busch for the remainder of the Texas Motor Speedway weekend that includes today?s Nationwide Series race as well as tomorrow?s Sprint Cup Series race after a blatant retaliation move on Ron Hornaday Jr. in last night?s in the Truck Series race. Personally NASCAR needed to wake up and suspend (park in this case) Kyle Busch, his reckless driving is very dangerous and needed to handle in the right way. I?m thrilled with this result, but I wonder what?s next?If you like what you red here on RaceDriven.com, be sure to check out Brian Vermette's Personal and Link Blog at ThinkingBrian.com (on Tumblr)
NASCAR: Michael Waltrip Racing hires Mark Martin and extends Aaron?s throug
2011-11-04 22:38:00
Update - 11/23/2011: MWR announced that Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip will honor the sponsor (Aaron?s which was founded back in 1955) by driving the #55 in 2012 and 2013. (Read NASCAR.com article)Original Article:Last month, the first domino fell at MWR as Michael Waltrip Racing announced that they had signed Clint Bowyer to drive the #15 Toyota with 5-hour energy starting in 2012.But then came the second domino earlier this week as after a few days of rumors and speculations, MWR announced that they will be parting ways with David Reutimann at the end of the season (2011). This would leave an open seat, the #00 at MWR.Now the third, but not last domino has fallen as MWR announced earlier today at Texas Motor Speedway that they have hired Mark Martin and extended the Aaron?s sponsorship through 2013.The deal will give Mark Martin what he has been looking for, a part time ride in the Cup Series for the next two years as Martin will share the #00 Aaron?s Dream Machie with car owner ...
NASCAR: Stewart-Haas Racing and Danica Patrick unveils the #10 GoDaddy.com

Earlier today at Texas Motor Speedway, Stewart-Haas Racing with Tony Stewart and driver Danica Patrick unveiled Patrick?s 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule and her 2012 #10 Godaddy.com Chevrolet Impala SS.Three things caught my eye from this announcement.1. The 10-race schedule, 2 of which will be chosen at a later date are all races that would make even get the attention of a veteran driver and this schedule starts off with the 2012 Daytona 500 in late February. This is a bold move for sure as this is NASCAR?s superbowl race.Follow the Daytona 500 up with Darlington, Bristol, Atlanta, Chicagoland, Dover, Texas and Phoenix and you have one helleva race schedule.May 12:     Darlington (S.C.) RacewayAug. 25:     Bristol (Tenn.) Motor SpeedwaySept. 2:      Atlanta Motor SpeedwaySept. 16:    Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.Sept. 30:    Dover (Del.) NASCAR: Tony Stewart fights back, holds off Jimmie Johnson to win a wild Tu
2011-10-30 22:44:00
(Photo by John Harrelson/Getty Images for NASCAR)Damn, this one especially from where I was sitting here at home was a wild one for sure. When NASCAR dropped the green flag, all of the drivers that were actually running the entire race must have said, ?I?m going to give it everything and nobody is going to get in my way no matter what? as the word ?wreckfest? was used several times during the race. Can you say 18 cautions.Notebook:1. Tony Stewart had a good car earlier on, but fell back outside the top 20. However when it came to 100 laps to go, there was Tony Stewart making his way up through the field, picking them off one by one. And after a late race restart caused by Brian Vickers yet again, Smoke passed a hard charging Jimmie Johnson to win the race.2. Brian Vickers was one name that was in the headlines all race long and not in a good way. It seems Brian Vickers had a very busy day with him driving way too far over his head and was either getting into other drivers or other d...

2011-08-16 07:24:00
This article is part of a cross-promotion between both my two blogs RaceDriven.com and ThinkingBrian.com. Over on ThinkingBrian.com, I discussed the massive wreck on the final lap with Boris Said, David Regan and David Reutimann, the confrontation between Boris Said and Greg Biffle, and Marcos Ambrose winning at Watkins Glen. (Credit: Jason Smith/Getty Images for NASCAR) As NASCAR fans continue to talk about Monday?s Heluva Good! at the Glen Cup Series race that included a massive last lap wreck with Boris Said and David Regan getting together and David Reutimann getting the worst of it to Denny Hamlin losing his brakes and hitting head on in the turn 1 wall. The big story coming out of Watkins Glen is that Marcos Ambrose has become the 5th driver to pickup his first Cup Series victory in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Personally, it was cool to watch Marcos Ambrose hold off a hard charging Brad Keselowski and Kyle to pickup his first career Cup Series victory at Watki...

It has been a long week for Brad Keselowski for sure. Last Wednesday, Brad was testing with his #2 Miller Dodge Cup Series team at Road Atlanta when during testing, Brad had a practice crash. (Read entire article) But fast forward to earlier today at Pocono Raceway where the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series were in action for the Good Sam RV Insurance 500 were after a hour plus long rain delay with 76 laps to go, Brad Keselowski took the lead late on a restart and held off a charging Kyle Busch to capture his third career Cup Series victory. NASCAR: Travor Bayne winning the Daytona 500 is the biggest surprise win so
2011-07-31 23:18:00
Earlier today in the Brickyard 400 presented by BigMachinesRecords.com at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NASCAR fans saw the third surprise victory of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series when Paul Menard, yes that Paul Menard with his father's Home Improvement store sponsoring his car, won the Brickyard 400 over Jeff Gordon. (Read all about on ThinkingBrian.com) But the question that I had before me was, "what was the biggest surprise win of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season?" Well I had three to choose from: 1. Trevor Bayne winning the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway2. Regan Smith winning the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway3. Paul Menard winning the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway But in my eyes this question is simple to answer, I truly believe that Trevor Bayne driving the famous #21 Ford Fusion for the Wood Brothers and winning the 2011 Daytona 500 over Carl Edwards back in February was the biggest surprise win of the 2011 ...

2011-07-15 06:02:00
(Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images) Welcome readers, for the past two weeks now, NASCAR has been taking a big hit from the fans following back to back disappointments when it came to both of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Daytona International Speedway and Kentucky Speedway. It looks like a black eye for sure to me. However in and among all of the racing and talk, I?ve managed to come up with 6 things I?ve learned from both races. 1. Most NASCAR fans don?t like the tandem two-car drafting ?prom date?, ?tag team? or whatever you call it racing at Daytona or Talladega. In my 20 years of watching NASCAR, I don?t think I?ve really seen one thing that NASCAR fans have hated more than this tandem racing. I believe that NASCAR should change there view here and rework the restrictor plate racing and at least make one rule change for the upcoming Talladega Superspeedway race this fall during the chase to have these races become more entertaining for the fans and that also puts...

2011-07-08 00:40:00
Yesterday?s press conference at Indianapolis Motor Speedway confirmed the last few weeks? speculation that the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Grand-Am Road Racing Series including the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge would join the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to create a 4-race Brickyard 400 super weekend. The Grand-Am Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge would race on the 13-turn IMS 2.523-mile infield road course Friday, July 27, while the Nationwide Series and of course the Sprint Cup Series would complete on the 2.5-mile oval on Saturday (Nationwide) and Sunday (Cup Series). But while the press conference was good news on NASCAR, IMS and the Grand-Am Road Racing Series, fans were left with mixed feelings and left some unanswered question marks as well. Like for example, why NASCAR would take a good race from the 0.686-mile short track and move it to the 2.5-mile oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway? Will the Truck Series continue to race at the ne...

2011-07-01 21:11:00
As the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season nears the halfway point, I?ve been for the most part enjoying several of the races so far this season. But there are a few things that have caught my eye that I truly believe that NASCAR should address in the coming months and especially for the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series season. Now of course I?m sure that several people who read this will say, but Brian if it isn?t broke, don?t fix it. And while I do agree with that statement, I have to say that in all of these cases, in my opinion, these are broke or could be simply improved, so they need to be fixed. Anyway, here is a top 6 bold moves NASCAR should consider in the near future and for the 2012 season... As the Coke Zero 400 at the Daytona International Speedway is coming up this Saturday night, Pepsi has gotten in on this upcoming race with a new video with the Pepsi Max truck driver driving cross country with NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. Pepsi seemed to have a lot of fun with this video including who is going to drive, does Jeff Gordon actually know how to change a tire to donuts in a big rig. Have a look. 2011 NASCAR Silly Season: What about Carl Edwards to JGR and Joey Logano to
2011-06-28 23:27:00
As the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season nears the half way point, this is the time of the year that rumors and speculation begins to ramp up on who is going to go where in 2012 and beyond. However unlike in past seasons where major drivers have made big moves like in 2007 where Dale Earnhardt Jr., joined Hendrick Motorsports for 2008, in 2008, Tony Stewart on the move to his own team, Stewart-Haas Racing for 2009. Or even more, in 2009, where Jamie McMurray which ended up at EGR for 2010 and of course last year (2010), where Kasey Kahne that right now is at Red Bull Racing, but signed a deal with Hendrick Motorsports for the #5 ride in 2012. For 2012, no big named drivers look to be making any big moves for there future. I mean, Clint Bowyer says him staying at RCR is his number 1 choice. I haven?t heard too much in the way of Ryan Newman, it looks like Stewart-Haas Racing will be his home for another few years as well as Juan Montoya, he looks to be re-signing with EGR. Of ...

2011-06-20 00:12:00
Welcome readers, while I was watching the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Heluva Good 400 race at Michigan Speedway on TNT earlier today, I found two things to be interesting. 1. You see in watching the Cup Series race on TNT, I found the race boring. Now I don?t put much of this on NASCAR as such as its just a fact that some races are simply boring and most Michigan races are included on that list. It seemed to me that it was a cross between long green flag runs that strung the entire field with minimum passing opportunities as passing is what key element to a good race. And unfortunately for TNT broadcast crew and I?m talking about the three in the announcement booth, there broadcast was hard to listen too. 2. However, during the Michigan Cup Series race, today was the first time that I logged on to TNT?s RaceBuddy on NASCAR.com since it was made available and I can see what many NASCAR fans are raving about. The several enhanced cameras, leaderboard and chat on the right side is...
2012 Brickyard 400: Grand-Am Series and NASCAR both on the road course? Not
2011-06-15 22:25:00
Welcome readers, after last season?s Brickyard 400 that let?s be honest was an ok race that also had low attendance (keep in mind, that?s low attendance for Indy, not for a track such as Homestead mind you), I began to think about the future of the Brickyard 400. Since I don?t want to see NASCAR leave the Brickyard, something else needed to change and after that race I thought that maybe the Cup Series should race on the infield road course instead of the oval. Well that idea went nowhere as the chase was on the horizon. But fast forward to today as SPEED.com?s Robin Miller reported that the GRAND-AM Rolex Series will be racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2012 on the Brickyard 400 race weekend either on Friday or Saturday for a three-hour race on the infield road course. Now at this moment, this is only a report (rumor/speculation) and nothing is official. But think about it for a moment, the Grand-Am Series possible coming to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to run a t...

Welcome readers, for the third class, today at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, it was announced that Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Inman, Richie Evans and Glenn Wood would be the 2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductees. I believe that each year, this process is going to get harder and harder as we go along, but I have to say that unlike the 2011 class, I?m not as surprised as I thought I would be except for one. So without further delay, here we go, here is the 2012 class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame and what a class it is including well deserved and overdue. 1. Cale Yarborough, Driver (1957-1988), winner of three consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup titles, 1976-78, 83 Cup wins and 4-Time Daytona 500 winner. Simply put well deserved and overdue. I thought Cale should have gone in 2011, but you know the biggest deal here is at least he got in and that?s what?s going to happen with everybody. 2. Darrell Waltrip, winner of 84 races, three NASCAR Sprint Cup championships, 1989 Daytona 500 winn...

8 Bold moves NASCAR should make before the 2011 NASCAR season to get fans b
2010-12-14 02:10:00
Today, I?m finishing off my three-part series that focuses on looking back at both the 2010 NASCAR season and the 2010 Motorsports season. In this edition, I?m putting myself into the shoes of NASCAR for one day and addressing some of the hot topics and problem areas in NASCAR. In 2010, NASCAR had amazing competition on the racetrack and they had a good product too, however that was over shadowed as I would actually describe the 2010 season as a year of frustration and that was primarily due to NASCAR announcing last January ?Boy?s Have at it?. Nevertheless, here are my top 8 bold moves that I would make before the 2011 or at least 2012 NASCAR season to get NASCAR fans back. 1. Repeal ?Boy?s Have at it? and replace with a simple set of rules including conduct. Right now NASCAR seems to want to be more like the NFL and if that?s the case, then they need to have black and white rules like the NFL does too. With the introduction of the ?Boy?s Have at it?, it opened the door for blata...
Top 12 Biggest Moments and Stories of the 2010 NASCAR Season
2010-12-01 21:14:00
Today, I?m kicking off my three-part series that focuses on looking back at both the 2010 NASCAR season and the 2010 Motorsports season. In this edition, I?m focusing on highlighting some of the biggest moments and stories from the 2010 NASCAR season. I would describe the 2010 NASCAR season as action-packed, competitive, but because of the ?Boy?s Have at it?, I would say very frustrating at times as well. However I?m focusing on the biggest moments and stories, so here we go: 1. ?Boy?s Have at it? got way out of hand and is a classic example of Letting The Inmates Run the Asylum. In some ways, I will give NASCAR credit that they would let the drivers be more open sort of speak, but NASCAR would end up taking this way too far and NASCAR new policy ended up letting the inmates runs the asylum. A classic example of this new frustrating policy had to be the Edwards vs. Keselowski at the spring Atlanta Cup Series race when Carl Edwards lost it and a lot of fans respect at the same ti...
Jimmie Johnson captures his 5th straight NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions
2010-11-24 22:30:00
Credit: Rusty Jarrett/Getty Images for NASCAR Welcome ladies and gentlemen, sorry for the delay, I was under the weather. But wow, here we are the last edition of the top 7 NASCAR things learned from a particular race weekend of the 2010 NASCAR season and unlike in past years, Homestead finally lived up to most of the hype as it should every year. Of course most of the hype was around the final three chase drivers still fighting for the Sprint Cup, namely points leader Denny Hamlin, second place Jimmie and third place Kevin Harvick. But Homestead was a 400 mile race that includes 43 drivers, not 3 like the Disney?s movie Cars. So I was watching a lot of battles including the highest finishing non-chase and personal victories. 1. A perfect example of NASCAR?s new policy of Letting The Inmates Run the Asylum with ?Boy?s Have at it?. Feud part whatever: Logano vs. Montoya. During the race, Montoya wouldn?t give Logano any room and ended up wrecking him on a restart in front of huge...
Final Predictions: Who will be the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion:
2010-11-17 23:43:00
As the sun set in Phoenix last Sunday, Carl Edwards and the #99 team found themselves gambling on fuel mileage and it paid off big time as they went to victory lane in the Cup Series for the first time in 2010 and break a two-year winless drought. At the same time, while Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick made their fuel mileage game work for both of them as well to finish 5th and 6th, the championship leader Denny Hamlin found himself pitting for fuel late on, finishing in the 12 spot and frustrated. Personally I thought that everybody was going to have to pit for fuel as well. It didn?t even cross my mind that several drivers could actually make it on fuel to the end. But thank god that they did, because the Phoenix II race was shaping up in a unusually boring race and a large championship lead heading into Homestead. Now of course after the fuel mileage finish at Phoenix, NASCAR, the media and some of the NASCAR fans have gotten there wish, we now have one of the closes chases...
Inside NASCAR not impressed with Jeff Gordon vs. Jeff Burton fight at Texas
2010-11-11 01:54:00
The media and the NASCAR fans are still buzzing about several key moments during last Sunday's AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway from the Kyle Busch penalty, the #48 and #24 pit crew swap that is also in effect for the remainder of the season, but the big one is the so-called fight between Jeff Gordona nd Jeff Burton had even lite up Twitter for a while during the race and in post-race. Well now even the Inside NASCAR on Showtime bunch has had there say in it and from the video above, they weren't too impressed especially Michael Waltrip. Personally the 1979 Daytona 500 fight on the last lap inside the infield on the final lap was a classic as well as Kevin Harvick vs. Greg Biffle at Bristol with Harvick clearing two cars just to land right in front of Biffle, man was Biffle surprised. Of course for more of my comments on all three of these key moments from last Sunday at Texas, besure to check out my blog post entitled "NASCAR: Jeff Gordon vs. Jeff Burton, Kyle Busch vs....
NASCAR: Denny Hamlin leads chase over Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick head
2010-11-08 22:38:00
As the 2010 NASCAR racing season is coming down to the end, at this point, we are normally talking about at least one NASCAR championship in one of the three national series that will come down to the final race. However this year we are in fact only really talking about one championship and that would be the chase for the Sprint up in the Cup Series. But did you know that in fact there are three championships still yet to be determined in NASCAR? The Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship is on with 3 drivers in the hunt Heading into this past weekend?s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, Jimmie Johnson held a slim 14 point lead over 2nd place Denny Hamlin and a 38 point lead over 3rd place Kevin Harvick. However with just 3 races to go heading into Texas, the fact is that a good top 10 finish just simply isn?t going to be enough if the other points contenders finish in the top 3 or win the race. And that?s exactly what happened at Texas. All three chase contenders each had ...

2010-11-03 21:10:00
As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rolls into Race 8 of the chase for the Sprint Cup Championship in the Long Star state at Texas Motor Speedway for Sunday?s race, the numbers have changed in the points standings after the spoiler Clint Bowyer survived the Big one and narrowly beating his teammate Kevin Harvick to win at Talladega Superspeedway. Right now, Jimmie Johnson has a slim 14 point lead over second place Denny Hamlin and a 38 point lead over third place Kevin Harvick. As of now, it?s the top 3 in points that are contending for the championship with 3 races to go. However as the top 3 in points as well as chase driver Jeff Gordon are the favorites heading into Texas Motor Speedway, the non-chase drivers are more of the ones to watch again this week including MWR driver Martin Truex Jr. who is coming off a 6th place finish at Talladega last week and heading into Texas will be driving a special NAPA Paint Scheme that features more than 2,400 names of breast cancer survivors an...

NASCAR: Harvick vs. Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon vs. Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch vs.
2010-10-30 02:06:00
As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has already unloaded and practiced at Talladega Superspeedway, I just wanted to take this moment and put a period on last week's episode if you will in the chase for the Sprint Cup. The above clip is from this past Wednesday night's Inside NASCAR on Showtime and after hearing what these four guys thought, here is my take, and yes Chris Myers was right, Harvick does come off sounding like a jurk on the radio. Note: Inside NASCAR seems to be a show that I'm actually enjoying and that is mainly due to the multi-part recaps of the previous race including all of the unedited radio chatter which gets heated at times. And as I say that, Martinsville was some of the most heated radio chatter I've heard all season long from Harvick vs. teammate Burton, Kyle Busch vs. Jimmie Johnson to Jeff Gordon vs. Kurt Busch. Isn't amazing, we basically have most of the case of suspects on this list. First, Johnson vs. Busch: Jimmie Johnson's job isn't to pull o...
Video: Tony Stewart on Inside NASCAR: ?We can win this championship.?
2010-10-15 20:41:00
As the Charlotte 500 approaches tomorrow night at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, it will be Race 5 in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. So far after 4 races, Jimmie Johnson has a slim 36 point lead over 2nd place Denny Hamlin and a 56 point lead over 3rd place Kevin Harvick. But after a good finish at Kansas Speedway and a victory last week at California Speedway, Tony Stewart has made up a good 60 points on championship lead Jimmie Johnson and now finds himself 5th in points and more importantly only -107 points out of the lead. Right now for the top 5 in points, any one of them have a good shot at winning the Sprint Cup this year. However just like at any race anything can happen. Personally, I believe that Tony Stewart can win his 3rd Cup Series championship this year, but in order for Smoke to win, he would have to continue finishing in front of the points leader (in this case Jimmie Johnson) and gain a good 20-30 points per race. And yes history has sh...

2010-10-13 22:29:00
Today at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, NASCAR (with Brian France announcing) announced the 2011 NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductees. I believe that each year is going to get harder as we go along, but that?s the way it should be. But even more after all of the debate, including who should be in and why vs. who shouldn?t be and why, we finally have the second class of the Hall of Fame. So without further delay, here we go. 1. David Pearson. The Silver Fox was one of the best drivers just about every time he came to the racetrack. Pearson is a three-time NASCAR champion (Those were his only three full seasons), has 105 wins that?s spans from 1960 to the 1980 Darlington 500 and is most famous for his 1976 Daytona 500 when he was battling Richard Petty on the final lap as they slammed into each other which ended with Petty and Pearson both wrecked in the grass, but Pearson was able to limp across the finish line for the victory. 2. Bobby Allison. 1983 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and winn...
