National City Bank v. Hill
2008-05-30 18:07:00 Ok, here?s the deal. Banks made tons of loans while ‘looking the other way’ and not verifying income with a little bit of security in knowing that if the loan goes bad, the loan can?t be discharged in bankruptcy because the bank can claim the borrower committed fraud. And now we find this recent ruling ...
Balance Transfer to National City
2008-05-05 12:06:00 I'm always looking for a good balance transfer deal - even now that all of my rates are fairly low. I called up National City to see if they had any deals going on. They offered my 3.99% APR for six months with no fee. I'm taking $3500 from Citi Card over to National City. Here's why:Citi CardBalance: $3500Credit Limit: $4400APR for 6 months: 6.99%Estimated interest for 6 months: $112Initial Credit Utilization: 80%National CityBalance: $3500Credit Limit: $8250APR for 6 months: 3.99%Estimated interest for 6 months: $63Initial Credit Utilization: 42% As you can see, both my finance charge and credit utilization are almost cut in half with this transfer. I'd love to see some improvement in my credit score, reducing the individual card utilization should help. Plus, that will be a little extra cash going towards the principal balance each month - snowflakes on autopilot from just one phone call. I should be able to have the full balance paid off within the 6 month time frame ...

A Debt Snowball Dilemma: The Promotional Balance
2008-03-02 14:36:00 The Debt Snowball MethodIf your looking to get out of debt, you're bound to run into the phrase Debt Snowball again and again. And with good reason - its a great strategy! You'll typically see it outlined in one of two ways: lowest balance first or highest interest first. There are advantages to each. Ultimately, the best method for you is the one you will stick to. It takes focus and determination to climb out of the hole. Here's a quick overview of two common strategies:Lowest Balance FirstList all of your debt in order from the lowest balance to the highest.Designate an amount to put towards debt each month... as much as you can spare.Pay only the minimum on all debts except for one with the lowest balance.Put the rest of the into the lowest balance debt and don't stop there. Use Snowflakes to Turn National City Points into Cash
2008-01-09 12:02:00 This is similar to a previous post, but I'm seeing it in a new way. If you have a National City Checking account you should sign up for National City Points program. Its free, run by a standard visa rewards program.Don't Use it for the RewardsThe rewards aren't great. You get a point per dollar of qualifying purchases which you can redeem for rewards including cash and gift certificates. If you're looking for cash (which I am) then you can expect less than 0.2% (yes, a fraction of a percent) return. Like I said, not great. Especially when you compare it to Chase Freedom or Discover's Get More program with up to 3% and 5% respectively. On the other hand, its definitely better than nothing if you are a debit card user anyway.Use it for the BonusesNot only do they offer 5000 bonus points for sign up, but they also offer bonus points for using some of the other services. (See details here.) Notably, you can earn points each month just by using the card to pay bills. Each transa...

Using Credit Cards Responsibly Pays Off
2008-01-06 18:28:00 Credit Cards: Good or Evil? The debate is ongoing and the answer isn't as simple as black and white. I personally dislike the credit card companies -- all of them that I have dealt with to date. However, when used responsibly credit cards can be financially rewarding. In fact, I'm almost inclined to say that if you aren't using a rewards card, you are being overcharged.Carrying a balance on a credit card generally doesn't count as responsible use (unless, of course you are using it for arbitrage which is a subject for another time). But even if you are in debt, there are ways to cash in on rewards and use that money to your advantage. Before considering cash back rewards card you must:Have a zero balance on a rewards cardThis one might seem obvious, but I've seen people spending money to get rewards on cards with carried balances. Its not worth it! Pay off the card first. Wait a month and then reconsider your strategy.Track your spendingYou need a budget or at least an...

Largely because of a far larger scale of these projects. From now, despite the 200% growth since the past 3-4 years, real estate projects (whether residential, commercial or retail) are expected to reach astronomical levels of a colossal 1,000%. That’s one of the key reasons why rates across the board are shooting through the roof. The first phase of the 2,504 acre hi-tech township by Ansal Properties and Infrastructure Limited in Greater Noida, for which it has signed an MoU with the Uttar Pradesh government, is estimated at a whopping Rs 20,000 crore.Natraj Buildwell Ltd has launched NRI Hills-International City at Jaipur at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
