Ko Olina residential neighborhoods, pictures and information

La Isla (The Island), one of the best kept secrets in Buenos Aires
2008-04-03 20:25:00 La Isla (The Island), enclosed between Gelli y Obes, Copérnico, and Galileo streets in Recoleta, is dominated by sophisticated and high class buildings and embassies. Due to its particular layout, with stairs and slopes, this spot is almost free of traffic and noise. All these features make this one of the most exclusive and upscale areas in Buenos Aires. The area, up and behind the slope where the monument to Bartolome Mitre is located, occupies only 5 square blocks, and is little known even by locals, even though it is located in one of the most visited neighborhoods in the city, surrounded by the National Library, Plaza Francia, Plaza Mitre, Buenos Aires Design Center, and Las Heras Avenue. This peaceful retreat was once a country estate owned by the Hale Pearson family, with an English style park. Around 1910 the estate was sold and divided into different plots of land, and the final design was performed by architect Bouvard, director of Parks in Paris. From the original estate ...

Properties in central Jerusalem neighborhoods - Talbieh, the German Colony
2008-03-20 23:27:00 Property deals in the second half of 2007 were closing at levels similar to the first half of 2007, as israel real estate price increases began slowing. The flow of overseas buyers has slowed greatly in recent months. The primary explanation for this slowdown is the economic crisis in the U.S. and the collapse of the dollar. Nevertheless, there is a feeling among prospective apartment buyers that Jerusalem property owners are asking too much for exclusive homes."There certainly is a slowdown," one agent says. "There is a feeling that while foreign residents behaved naively in the past and bought just about anything for any price, they are now wiser."

Santa Barbara CA Neighborhoods - The Riviera
2008-03-12 17:12:00 The Riviera Bridging the two mile span which separates Mission and Sycamore Canyons, the sylvan uplift which the padres knew as the "mission ridge" has for the past 65 years been known as "the Riviera" due to its resemblance to slopes along the Mediterranean coasts of France and Italy. Residents lucky enough to live on this ridge attach premium value to their homes because of their unsurpassed views of the city, mountains, sea and islands. Most of the area has curving streets with mature trees and foliage. The topography of the Riviera is relatively steep and not easily reached via walking or biking. Best Neighborhoods
2008-02-28 23:15:00 While living and working here in the Foothills since 1996, I have come across many wonderful neighborhoods. My intention is to highlight them as time permits. Keep in mind the "bests" I blog about here on this site are those I have seen or know about that have wowed me, but definitely not to say they are the only good ones. That includes this neighborhood category. Other beautiful neighborhoods I hope to get to soon include: Kalithea in El Dorado Hills with lots overlooking Folsom Lake and the Sacramento Valley, Hacienda De Estellas in Shingle Springs, and Highland Hills in El Dorado Hills. The homes for sale and prices are as of the date I write the blog, so if you are interested in a particular neighborhood and the blog was written more than 2 weeks prior, please email me for an update on available listings and prices in that neighborhood.
Santa Barbara Neighborhoods - San Roque
2008-02-28 19:25:00 San Roque - Santa Barbara Few residential neighborhoods of Santa Barbara can boast the rich historical background of the San Roque and Rutherford Park areas. Ten thousand years ago the area, bounded by Ontare Road, Foothill Road, Alamar Avenue and State Street, was an open expanse of treeless grassland, sloping up to the knees of the foothills and bisected by the jungled course of San Roque Canyon. Now a built-up, economically stabilized suburb, it is admired for its sweeping curved streets, its luxuriant landscaping, and its harmonious blend of many architectural themes - Spanish Colonial, English Tudor, French Normandy, California Redwood, Italian and American Colonial, mostly built since 1925. San Roque features older, custom homes with charm. For many, San Roque is Santa Barbara's quintessential family neighborhood. The entire area is relatively flat and great for walking or biking. Most homes have views of the mountains. Learn more about ...

Santa Barbara CA Neighborhoods - Mission Canyon
2008-02-23 01:18:00 Mission Canyon Mission Canyon, which with the Old Mission complex and the area bounded on the south by Mission Street, making up Santa Barbara's "Mission District," is unique. No residential neighborhood in the city boasts a richer historical background, or offers more relics and landmarks of Old Spanish Days Fr. Junipero Serra, when he helped found the Royal Presidio of Santa Barbara in 1782, intended Santa Barbara's Franciscan mission to be built in El Montecito near the present site of Our Lady of Mount Carmel church on East Valley Road. But four years later, when his successor, Fr. Fermin Lasuen OFM, arrived to establish our mission, he decided that Montecito was too infested with grizzly bears and renegade Indians to risk building a mission so far removed from the protection of the presidio soldiers, so he looked elsewhere. 2008-02-12 21:31:00 I'm not quoting, but I want to let Clarksville neighborhood residents know that the very well-respected Kiplinger's magazine mentioned that Clarksville TN was expected to be one of the top real estate markets in the country in 2008. Home prices are expected to go up over 6% during this year, and it will be a good year for both buyers and sellers.

2008-02-12 13:00:00 Sacramento Channel 3 news reported on a website that ultimately could have a devastating result on neighborhoods. Range of Neighborhoods in East Chapel Hill High School District
2008-02-06 16:19:00 I’ve mentioned before how nice it is to live in a school district that is considered one of the best in the country. It is also nice that we have a wide range of neighborhoods that allow parents in all income brackets to move into the district.  The chart shows just a small sample of the many neighborhoods in the district and their average selling prices over the past six months. Of course, there are homes well above the figures on the chart, but you get the idea. There is a home for you in the district if you want to move here, At the lower end of the price scale you will find mostly condos, then townhomes at higher prices, then single family homes, but there are some of each in every price range. For more information on ALL the areas in the East Chapel Hill High School district hit the search button on my blog and check out the results. When you are ready to buy, give me a call. Share This

2008-02-01 01:48:00 A great comment was made this morning asking me for my take on the various neighborhoods in Miami. Excellent topic and one that I’m sure my nonlocal readers would appreciate. The map above is a portion of a larger map that was created by the Miami Downtown Development Authority. It is a great resource for people to see where various condo buildings throughout Miami are located. I realize that it is very difficult to view the above image. I do, however, have a PDF of the map on my file sharing page. Click on the file called “Miami Developments Map Aug07″. You may also want to view the file called “Miami Developments Report Aug07″. There you will find profile pages for several condo developments in Miami. The map does not encompass all of Miami, however. It basically covers just those neighborhoods in Miami that had the most condo development during our recent boom. It also doesn’t show every condo development on the map. I’m not s...

Where to Stay - Best Buenos Aires Neighborhoods: Palermo - Overview
2008-01-29 19:13:00 Palermo is the largest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, with the most extensive green lung in the city, the area known as "Bosques de Palermo" or "Parque 3 de Febrero", which covers 740 acres between Del Libertador Avenue, Salguero, Rafael Obligado Avenue and Pampa, comparable to Hyde Park in London or the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. At the beginning of the XIXth century, Palermo was a site with farms and country estates. During the decade of 1830, the governor of Buenos Aires, Juan Manuel de Rosas, buys extensive plots of land and builds a colonial house and a religious chapel, in the intersection of the present avenues del Libertador Gral. San Martín and Av. Domingo Faustino Sarmiento. When Rosas is defeated in the Caseros battle in 1852 by Justo José de Urquiza, governor of Entre Ríos, the zone is completely abandoned and neglected. The colonial house is destroyed at the end of the century.During the presidency of Domingo F. Sarmiento, in the year 1874, the "Parque Tres de Febrero" i...

Where to Stay - Best Buenos Aires Neighborhoods: SanTelmo
2007-12-25 20:51:00 San Telmo neighborhood is a bohemian quarter, the birth place of Tango in Argentina, and a source of inspiration for many artists. Today is one of the most visited places in the city, especially by Tango lovers for its many ?milongas? (Tango dancing salons), and Tango shows. In its beginnings it was inhabited by the workers of the nearby port of Buenos Aires. They settled around Plaza Dorrego and on Defensa Street, considered as the oldest street in the city. The neighborhood grew, becoming the place of residence of many of the wealthiest and most traditional families in Buenos Aires. During the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1871, these families abandoned their mansions, which still exist, and moved to the North of the city. These large houses were occupied by immigrant families, and became what we know today as ?conventillos?, communal houses in which each room was occupied by a whole family. Today many of these old houses have been restored, and hold stylish shops, hotels, loft-styl...

Foreclosures Causing Unkempt Lawns In Neighborhoods
2007-12-11 13:03:00 Unkempt lawns can be a serious hole in the reputation of a certain suburban neighborhood.
