Unusual question from one of my neighbors
2008-05-14 23:21:00 I was talking to one of my neighbors today (they know we own a second property in the neighborhood). Anywho, they rent, and according to her, have been in the house 2 years now. They got the standard "intent to renew" and it was for the same rent amount as this past year. I saw the form, it's pretty standard and the amount they are currently paying is fair (if not slightly high) for the neighborhood.Well, apparently they turned in the form and a few days later received a call from their landlord. Now the landlord wants to increase the rent $100 per month for the next year (keep in mind the landlord has not signed the agreement yet, only the tenants). She asked if they could legally do that. I told her I thought they could (though morally I think it is wrong), but I wasn't 100% positive.So I thought I would ask all of you! While it's rare for it to get high, there is always the question in the back of our mind about whether or not it will rise above the shoreline. The 2 year old constantly is running and jumping and the mother stomps when she walks. I can hear every friggin step she takes!! I have made multiple complaints to management and had security sit in my apartment a couple times to listen so he could log it in the books. Still nothing!
