Photo Hunt #28 and 29: Wrinkled/Beauty
2008-08-30 05:28:00 I am re-posting the image below, same one I used in last week's PH. For some reason, I couldn't leave my comment and link at the PH home. Anyways, I used the photo again because I think last week and this week's theme can be found in the said photo. Her face may be marred by age and years of hard work , yet, I find her beautiful. Who says being wrinkled and old can't be beautiful? The picture above portrays both.
Fuel Lines Kilometers Long in Nepal
2008-08-25 03:41:00 Imagine if this happens in Amerika: How to get hold of petrol is one of the hottest topics in Nepal ever since its sole supplier, India, began refusing to sell fuel on credit a year ago to Nepal’s state-run fuel monopoly, which owes it millions of dollars. The ensuing shortage has led to rationing and pump queues ...

Litratong Pinoy #009 : Mithi (Wish)
Iyan...

Nepal To Abolish Monarchy
2008-05-26 15:39:00 The Nepal monarchy is not expected to be part of the nation’s ruling elite much longer than a few weeks as a newly elected Assembly meets to formally end the kingdom of Nepal which has been in existence for 239 years and proclaim a republic. The government has banned all demonstrations in and around the royal palace and the private homes of King Gyanendra in order to avoid any incident of violence against him by a population which has grown to distrust his rule. The radical Maoists won a surprise election in April during which they campaigned to remove the king. However, Dinanath Sharma, a senior leader of the Maoists said “we have urged the people to come to the st reets on that day(voting to abolish the monarchy) to celebrate the republic day.’ The Maoists have a day of celebration but then must turn to many problems that will face the new republic including dealing wth poverty and creating a viable democracy.

Nepal-India Border Crossing
2008-05-19 07:29:00 As much as I enjoyed playing chicken with oncoming traffic in Kathmandu’s little white taxis, I was happy to have a seat on Yeti Airline’s 11:40am flight to a small border town in southeastern Nepal. The 30 seat twin prop plane had a nice green and yellow paint job and I felt at ease boarding it for the short 45-minute trip. I noticed I was the only white guy, which surprised me given I was on the preferred morning flight for those heading to Darjeeling, India. Seating was first come, first serve and I nabbed a single window seat in the front left, hoping to catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest on my way out of the country. A pleasant stewardess kept us hydrated and the plane took off and landed exactly as scheduled. We flew at 15,000 feet however the clouds hid any potential mountain views. As we disembarked at a tiny airport, I was immediately struck by the heat and humidity of the lower elevation. I went to use the men’s room and after a few seconds at the uri...
