New Hampshire Primary
2008-01-09 21:52:00 As Election Day approaches, one of the most publicized presidential races of the past several decades has captivated the minds of people around the world and set records for participation in the US democratic primary system. As the first woman to run as a mainstream candidate for president, New York Senator Hillary Clinton has quite a race in front of her by anyone's standards. Even though equal rights for women have existed in the United States for almost a century, it has been a long time coming for a presidential race between Clinton and her fiercest competitor, Illinois Senator Barack Obama. Although she had led polls initially for several weeks, as the Iowa caucus started to get underway, Obama had the lead. After her third-place finish in Iowa, things were looking a little desperate for Mrs. Clinton, whose campaigning in recent weeks has been relentless. As Obama picked up the pace to match, it seemed inevitable. With the opposition taking double-digit leads in most polls in ...

New Hampshire Primary Results
2008-01-09 06:40:00 The results are coming in for the 2008 New Hampshire primaries. It looks like John McCain and Hillary Clinton are the big winners tonight. Apparently Hillary’s carefully prepared emotional display struck a chord with voters. A McCain victory was predicted, so there’s no big surprise there. Interestingly Ron Paul was within 3 percentage points of three of the “mainstream” candidates despite having been excluded from Fox New Channel’s most recent debate. Thompson scored only 1% of the vote, but he didn’t really campaign in New Hampshire. I’m sure he will do better in South Carolina. Republicans Democrats McCain 37% Clinton 39% Romney 32% Obama 37% Huckabee 11% Edwards 17% Giuliani 9% Richardson 5% Paul 8% Kucinich 1% Thompson 1% Biden 0% Hunter 0% Gravel 0% Dodd 0% Tags: new-hampshire, primary, hillary-clinton, john-mccainShareThis

McCain Delivers in New Hampshire
2008-01-09 04:57:00 John McCain has came back in a campaign where he had no money left and very little support, to win New Hampshire. On Tuesday night John McCain defeated Mitt Romney who came in second in the New Hampshire primary. McCain won New Hampshire in 2000 over George W. Bush and that may have helped him win on Tuesday. McCain does well among Independents and more than 45 percent of voters in New Hampshire are registered ?undeclared?. Independents were key to McCain?s victory on Tuesday and the Republican race will continue to go on. Ron Paul had 8 percent of the vote almost matching Rudy Giuliani?s 9 percent. Mike Huckabee finished with 12 percent. Mitt Romney finished second with 32 percent. McCain won by 5 percent as of 10:45 PM (EST) with 37 percent. In a hilariously embarrassing defeat, Fred Thompson lost to the total number of write-in candidates. McCain 37% Romney 32% Huckabee 11% Giuliani 9% Paul 8% Total Write-ins 2% Thompson 1% Hunter 1%

019. On the New Hampshire Primary
2008-01-09 03:30:00 If you didn’t believe this is still anybody-and-everybody’s race, believe it now. From third place to first, John McCain has edged out Mitt Romney in New Hampshire, after Romney won in Wyoming. And of course on the Democratic side, Obama and Clinton are apparently caught in a dead heat, with formerly second-place Edwards now coming in third. I’m starting to feel a bit like a horse-race announcer just talking about it. I don’t think ANYONE has decided who they’re going to vote for yet this year, except the people who have chosen third-tier candidates like Ron Paul, Fred Thompson or Chris Dodd, none of whom have a snowball’s chance in Hell of getting the nominations. Me, personally? Well… here’s what I think. First of all: the message of both Obama and Edwards is clear: CHANGE. And I think it’s going to be a platform of change that wins in November. All three of the Democratic frontrunners know that you and I are sick and tire...

New Hampshire Primary Predictions
2008-01-07 22:23:00 My New Hampshire predictions:DemocratsBarack ObamaHillary ClintonJohn EdwardsThis state will be another success for Obama in a string of successes. After winning in an overwhelming majority white state (Iowa), he will take the lead here. From there, he will lose the Nevada caucus but go on to win the South Carolina primary, with the state?s large African-American population. That could potentially springboard him to Tsunami Tuesday. That is Clinton?s biggest worry. Also expect Richardson to stay in the race; he?s waiting for Hispanic Nevada.RepublicansJohn McCainMitt RomneyRudy GiulianiMike HuckabeeRon PaulThe maverick is back and Romney is down. Romney lost a decent amount of his aura in Iowa, and the few Evangelical Christians in the state will be supporting Huckabee, who in turn will not receive much of the NH vote. This is Ron Paul?s chance to shine. His nonconformist, libertarian stance in a nonconformist, libertarian state will allow him to stand out of the crowd. Could he beat ...

No Election In 2007
2007-08-11 01:41:00 "We're still going to have Christmas" was what Governor Chet Culver (D-Iowa) said, rejecting calls to hold the state's first in the nation caucus in December as other states, including Florida and South Carolina begin to move their primaries and caucuses up.South Carolina moved their GOP primary to January 19th. The Iowa Caucuses are scheduled for January 14th. Culver hinted there may be a deal with the first primary state of New Hampshire in the works to keep both in January.Iowa's caucuses are held eight days before New Hampshire's primary, which, under the current calendar, would happen after South Carolina.Either way, in six months, we're going to know who the candidates for President are.

Clinton, Obama Gets Big Endorsements
2007-07-26 01:19:00 Hillary Clinton got a big endorsement today...from the Senior Senator of the nation's biggest state.Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) officially endorsed Clinton, becoming the seventh US Senator and 56th member of Congress to endorse Clinton.Senator Obama also got a major endorsement out of the most important primary state. Freshman Congressman Paul Hodes (D-New Hampshire) endorsed Obama. Hodes' endorsement will no doubt help Obama in the all important primary state where he has been trailing Clinton by large margins.Obama has got the endorsement of Rep. Steve Rothman (D-New Jersey). Rothman decided to endorse Obama despite the movement of New Jersey Democrats toward Senator Clinton. So far prominent New Jersey Democrats like Governor Jon Corzine, Senator Bob Menendez and Representatives Frank Pallone, Rob Andrews and Albio Sires have all thrown their support behind the Senator from the state next door.

In 1992, Tom Harkin won Iowa and Paul Tsongas won New Hampshire and Bill Clinton ended up winning. Steve Forbes came in second in Iowa in the GOP race in 2000.However, with the primary sea...
