Patriots Trade 7th Pick To Saints
2008-04-26 21:53:00
Rather than select with the 7th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots have traded the pick to the New Orleans Saints. The Patriots also traded their 5th round pick (#164) for the Saints 1st round pick (#10) and 3rd round pick (#78).

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #10 - New Orleans Saints
2008-03-27 18:13:00
With the 9th pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC. Ellis picked up 80% of the vote, which is the largest total so far.  A distant second place was Keith Rivers with 5%. So here's how the last 5 picks in our draft have gone: Kansas City Chiefs - Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St. (30%) New York Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio St. (56%) New England Patriots - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tenn St. (32%) Baltimore Ravens - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU (41%) Cincinnati Bengals - Sedrick Ellis, DT, LSU (80%) To see the entire draft so far, click here. Next up, rounding out the top 10, are the New Orleans Saints.  Below are the Saints' needs, courtesy of NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Defensive Tackle: Brian Young, Hollis Thomas & Kendrick Clancy are all okay but there is not an impact player among them and it is probably time to bring in a difference maker in the middle of the line. 2. Outside Linebacker: Scott...
In The Red Zone: Patriots Considering Pacman
2008-03-09 02:00:00
The New England Patriots are reportedly interested in Tennessee Titans cornerback/suspended bad boy Adam “Pacman” Jones. Detroit, Oakland, Kansas City, Houston, New Orleans and Dallas are among those to also have expressed at least some level of interest. Jones, who was suspended all of last season, could come up for review for re-instatement prior to the NFL Draft in April. Jones who was the 6th overall pick in the 2005 draft is considered a top cover corner and is an extremely dangerous punt returner. But he is becoming more well known for his off field behavior than his actions on Sundays. He’s been arrested six times since being drafted by the Titans and was at the center of a Las Vegas strip club melee in February 2007 that left a man paralyzed. He’s currently serving three years probation, stemming from an incident in Fayette County, Ga., where he was alleged to have bitten a police officer’s hand. So the questions begs to be asked. Does “Pa...
In The Red Zone: Free Agency Day 4
2008-03-04 04:49:00
TE Alge Crumpler has a two year deal with the Tennessee Titans for which the terms aren’t available yet. DE Bobby McCray signed a five-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, terms were not disclosed. The Chicago Bears traded QB Brian Griese to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it will be his second go around with John Gruden’s team. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed QB Ben Roethlisberger to an 8-year $102 million contract extension with $36 million in guarantees. Excuse me while I call my new friend Ben. The New York Giants signed S Sammy Knight no terms were released. Two days ago it was reported that the Miami Dolphins had signed Calvin Pace but something must have fallen apart somewhere and now the New York Jets signed LB Calvin Pace to a 6-year $42 million contract with $22 million in guarantees and RT Damien Woody, a former Patriot, to a 5-year $25.5 million contract with $11 million guaranteed. The Atlanta Falcons released RB Warrick Dunn one day after signing “The B...

The Atlanta Falcons signed RB Michael Turner to six-year $34 million contract with about $15 million guaranteed. They also signed TE Ben Hartsock to a 4-year ...

In The Red Zone - Breaking News: Thomas Chooses Cowboys

Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas has chosen a contract offer from the Dallas Cowboys over one from the New England Patriots and another from the New Orleans Saints. Patriots Court Free Agent Thomas
2008-02-19 12:00:00
The New England Patriots brought in former Miami Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas on Monday. They wanted to talk to Thomas and see where he was medically. 2008 NFL Mock Draft: New Orleans Saints
2008-02-17 22:27:00
Previous Five Picks 5) Kansas City Chiefs: Chris Long, DE, Virginia 6) New York Jets: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas 7) New England Patriots: Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State 8) Baltimore Ravens: Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State 9) Cincinnati Bengals: Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC Click here to see the entire Mock Draft. The Longest Mock Draft in NFL History Continues... If I’m wrong about the Dolphins taking Glen Dorsey with the number one overall pick, I wonder if I can file a lawsuit against them for ruining my mock draft? Filing lawsuits against NFL teams seems to be the hip thing kids are doing these days. I surely don’t want to be left out. I’m also wondering if there will be a congressional hearing if a good player drops to the Patriots. Those lousy cheaters. Videotaping other teams. Forget Bin Ladin, someone lock up Bill Belichick! You know, I was only kidding in my Roger Clemens column when I said there would be a Congressional hearing on spygate. I’m ...
Gameday Thread: Tampa Bay Buccaneers AT New Orleans Saints 4:15pm
2007-12-02 18:04:00
Its no secret the Bucs have their hands full in terms of competition today. The Saints have been one of the hottest teams in the Division despite losing to the Rams and Texans in consecutive weeks. Sunil from Canal Street Chronicles claims last weeks win over the Panthers may have been the Saints best performance of the year. That doesnt bode well for our Bucs who go into Sundays Match-up a little banged up........ QB Jeff Garcia practiced limitedly on Friday. I don't expect him to play... On one hand, it would be nice to have him out there with the possibility of sealing up the Division, BUT on the other hand, if he gets hurt, ITS ALL OVER . . . GUARENTEED. Garcia is the glue that makes this team stick. Expect QB Luke McCown to start today, with QB Bruce Gradkowski waiting in the wings. The last time these two teams faced each other, the Bucs came away with a dominating win over the Saints. I dont expect a win to come as easy this time and wouldnt be surprised at all to see the ...

2005 Maxim?s Girls of NFL Mud and Turf Wars

Back in 2005 Maxim introduce some ladies from the gridiron. I personally like these pictures the most out of the entire gallery. It’s no surprise that the first picture contains a couple from the Cincinnati Bengals squad. Move those chains! No clue what team these two are on. No matter. No ...
Dick Nolan - Coaching Legend of Cowboys, 49ers, and New Orleans Saints Pass
2007-11-12 08:39:00
Former 49ers, Saints coach Dick Nolan dies at 75 - Canadian News SAN FRANCISCO - Dick Nolan, the former coach of the San Francisco 49ers and the father of current coach Mike Nolan, died Sunday, the 49ers said. He was 75.Dick Nolan, a former NFL defensive back who also coached the New Orleans Saints, had been in declining health with Alzheimer's disease and prostate cancer for several years. He spent the last few months at an assisted-care facility in the Dallas area, near his longtime home with his wife, Ann.Mike Nolan missed practice with the 49ers on Friday and Saturday, travelling back to Texas to be with his father. Team spokesman Aaron Salkin said Nolan would coach the 49ers on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks.Dick Nolan played nine NFL seasons before becoming a coach, assisting Hall of Famer Tom Landry in Dallas and going 71-85-3 in nearly 11 seasons with San Francisco and New Orleans. He led the perennially downtrodden 49ers to 56 wins, three division titles and two...
Saints Love Ex-Eagles
2007-11-09 00:54:00
The Saints signed linebacker Matt McCoy on Sunday and threw him onto kick coverage teams against the Jaguars, where he made a good late tackle to draw welcoming applause.McCoy, a starter for the Eagles since he was drafted in the second round of the 2005 draft out of San Diego State, lost his starting job and was cut by Philadelphia last Monday..McCoy drew a $7500 fine for a late hit on Vikings punter Chris Kluwe. McCoy missed time last year with a neck stinger and in 2006 due to hip and shoulder injuries. Undersized at 5'11", 230, McCoy makes up for his lack of bulk with a non-stop, motor. Aggressive sometimes to a fault, McCoy was a fast riser in the 2005 draft but was made expendable with the ascension of Omar Gaither and the trade for Takeo Spikes. The Saints placed LB Alfred Fincher (concussion) on injured reserve, and McCoy took the place of the Saints' 2005 third round pick on kick coverage teams.
Reggie Bush?s Ex- Girl Kim Kardashian?s Playboy Photos
2007-10-27 07:43:00
Following the Sportaphile tradition of clamoring over the top flight chicks athletes use as their temporary playtoy, we present to you Kim Kardashian’s Playboy spread. Reggie Bush’s ex girl Kim beats out Barry Bonds ex girl by a mile, but maybe we’re biased because Ms. Kardashian is just about the baddest chick on the planet ...
Can We Give The Rookie Of The Year To Adrian Peterson Early?
2007-10-15 07:09:00
Without a doubt, Adrian Peterson has stuck out head and shoulders above the rest of the the rookie class of 2007. While Marshawn Lynch has done great in Buffalo with his rough style, Peterson is completely blowing defenses out of the water. Adrian is doing what Reggie Bush was supposed to do last year. Like ...
Message Board Marauder
2007-10-09 16:09:00
Our weekly look at the musings taking place on sports internet message boards, including a Yankees curse, the South, Matt Millen, and Kyle Boller vs. Tony Romo.- BroncosFreak: "TRADE CHAMP. Corners are too replaceable in this league to have so much stock in a single one. Currently, Champ is just passing his peak when it comes to trade value, and the Broncos have the wrong formula right now." - SwingBringsPain- ESPN.com - New York Yankees: "Curse is alive and well in NY. What we are seeing today is a direct result of the Red Sox reversing the curse on the Yankees in '04, and since that date the Yanks have gotten worse ... The reason for this is plain and simple. The curse has been reversed and the Yankees, inexorably, cannot keep themselves from failing no matter how "great" they are." - daedalo- FinHeaven: "Mike Greenberg reminds me of the little punk on the playground who won't stop talking about the stupidest things. Then, after you beat the tar out of him, he gets right back up...

1.The San Diego Chargers Norv Turner managed to turn a 14-2 super bowl bound team into joke. L.T. can’t run the ball, Shawne Merriman had 2 tackles last week..TWO TACKLES! This is the same guy who had seventeen sacks in 12 games during the 2006 season. They’ll still making the playoffs, but you think this charger ...
The Best Worst Team Money Can Buy
2007-09-26 16:06:00
There have more than a few offensive players in the NFL who have underperformed thus far, much to the chagrin of fans and fantasy football players.Three weeks into the season, as the first bye week is among us, it seems like an appropriate time to delve into the realm of repugnant play, and devise a team of the underachieving.QB - Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints: To fully comprehend his awfulness, there is but one stat you need to know. Of the 34 QB's who have started at least two games this year, only two have a worse QB rating than Brees - Rex Grossman and Tavaris Jackson. Brees' stands at 57.1, while Sexy Rexy's is 45.2 and the injured Jackson's is 40.0.Brees' 1 touchdown throw means his TD% (percentage of passes thrown for a TD) is .8%. Only the injured J.P. Losman is worse, with a 0.0 TD%. Even Joey Harrington has a 2.1 TD%. Being compared with Grossman, Jackson, Losman and Harrington is not company Mr. Brees should be keeping.RB - Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars: ...

New Orleans Saints - Two Weeks A Pattern Makes
2007-09-17 04:16:00
Resoundingly, the Saints have answered any questions about their 2006 season in the first two weeks of their 2007 season.  The answer rhymes with "puke", which ironically is what they have made everyone do who has invested in them for 2007. Normally, one should not draw conclusions based on a sample of two, but, in football, one only has total population of 16 and must make allowances.  In fantasy football, the population to sample from is even smaller as most leagues only use 13 weeks because Weeks 14-17 are either play-off weeks or the last week of the season. What is important in fantasy football is making the play-offs.  To do so, teams making adjustments quickly to changing circumstances is vital.  What do you do with all the Saints who have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks status attached?  Can you wait for a good performance in Week Three only to start them in Week Four in the hope they are what they were in 2006 and not what 2/3s of the 2007 season ...

2007-09-16 17:26:00
CADDY IS STARTING!!!!! If you click here you'll be taken to ESPN's Scoreboard Page where they have this lovely innuendo to Today's game against the New Orleans Saints: "Winning in Tampa should be a `Brees' for Saints" What looked worse? A (41-10) ass whipping from the Colts or a (20-6) demoralizing loss to the Seahawks? 31 Points looks bad ... Thanks ESPN for counting us out, I appreciate that. anyway ...... There is a ball game today at RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM, otherwise known as our HOME OPENER ........ Indianapolis Colts crushes New Orleans Saints in the NFL season opener
2007-09-07 12:15:00
Indianapolis Colts, the Super Bowl champions have started the NFL season opener well as they crushed the New Orleans Saints 41-10. Many of us will know that during the off-season there was not much talk about football itself, but rather the turmoil involving Michael Vick and the scandal of dog fighting, however it seems that ...
NFL Opening Night 2007 - New Orleans Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts!!
2007-09-07 06:14:00
Indianapolis Colts Rout New Orleans Saints 41-10 in Regular Season Opener. And so begins yet another exciting season of NFL football. John Madden and Al Michaels hosted, 80,000 thousand fans attended, and once again beer drained the boredom out for everyone watching the game. But The NFL is as american as a New Osama video, and thank God baseball season is almost over.

Buffalo Bills vs. New Orleans Saints - Open Game Thread
2007-08-11 02:01:00
13 at 10 FINAL SCORE Game Preview :: Canal Street Chronicles Update [2007-8-10 22:50:17 by Brian G]: Game, set, match. Solid way to end it for our defense, who sent a few blitzes to keep Palko from pulling a Falco and winning the game. I've seen better pre-season performances, but the young guys made enough plays to win this one. Full analysis to come early tomorrow morning; be sure to cast your vote for Player of the Game in the new poll to the right! Update [2007-8-10 22:42:55 by Brian G]: Two-minute warning, and Palko (Falco?) is driving the Saints down the field. I'd love to see our young defense make one more play to lay this thing to rest, but they've looked more like a broken dam than a defense tonight. Update [2007-8-10 22:38:58 by Brian G]: This is why I love the pre-season. Why not try a 54-yard field goal? Rian Lindell had a ton of leg on that one and drilled it right down the middle; the Bills lead 13-10 with about 3 minutes remaining. Fred J...

SBNation Mock Draft Pick #27 -- New Orleans Saints
2007-04-11 02:33:00
With the 27th pick of the 2007 SBNation Mock NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select..... Dwayne Bowe, WR -- LSU I could go on and on about our resident LSU blogger going "homer" on us and picking one of his own for the Saints, but I think I'll let him try to explain.... Were I not the LSU blogger, I don't think I'd have to offer much justification at all for this selection. I absolutely HATE being the "homer" and I would much prefer to go defense with our first pick, but here's the bottom line: I think Bowe is the best player still available by a fair margin, and regardless of how well our offense performed last year, a solid WR is a big need for us at present. Neither Devery Henderson nor Terrance Copper have proven to be legitimate #2 WRs (just ask Steeler fans, who saw Copper's dropsies first hand while we tried to mount a last minute drive at Pittsburgh last year), and the declining Joe Horn has sold his services to the devil Falcons, robbing us of at least some measure ...
