The Next Food Network Star
2009-08-03 14:45:00
I love how these things happen. Yesterday, the tv was on in the background in the kitchen, and, while I'm not a frequent Food Network viewer by any means, my son and his girlfriend are big fans. They had been here for the weekend and we were just hanging out in the kitchen. I switched the channel to the Food Network and my son's favorite chef, Bobby Flay, was on.  Yesterday was the recap of the previous episodes of The Next Food Network Star, with the winner to be announced last night.  Eventually, my son and his girlfriend left to return to their home (ok, mine, where they're living in NYC, lucky kids) and I found myself, now in my office, keeping the Food Network channel on for the rest of the day, up to the final show, and getting more and more into the series in the process! Throughout the day, the series took me from kitchen to office to bedroom (I know, it's a sad state of affairs when I have to admit the Food Network channel was yesterday's entertainment ALL DA...

Amy Finley, Where Are You?
2008-02-19 06:06:00
After six episodes of “The Gourmet Next Door”, I’ve lost track of Next Food Network Star Amy Finley. I still see Guy Fieri doing spots and hosting gigs, so I hope to see more of Amy at some time. She hasn’t checked into her MySpace since 1/11 and I wonder if there’ll be any new ...
Gourmet Next Door - Amy Finley
2007-10-15 07:02:00
Now, if you know me, I enjoy watching an occasional Food Network show, but I am not a cook. After watching the most recent season of “The Next Food Network Star“, I wanted to watch Amy Finley’s premiere of her prize show “The Gourmet Next Door”. Of all the contestants on last season’s competition, I knew ...
Food, Scandal and The Next Food Network Star?!
2007-07-23 02:42:00
Before tonight’s finale, I caught up on the previous episode of The Next Food Network Star. My husband said it had a surprising twist at the end, but wouldn’t confirm or deny any of my guesses. After the challenge du jour on Rachael Ray’s show, I wasn’t sure who to pick as my favorite out of ...
The Next Food Network Star
2007-07-16 17:42:00
I don’t know about you but I really like cooking, which means I really like watching The Food Network which means that in the slow summer months The Next Food Network Star becomes one of my regular shows. The Next Food Network Star is basically a culinary competition that starts with 11 culinary hopefuls and through lots of challenges each week 1 person gets eliminated by 3 Food Network judges. Last night we were down to 3 contestants. Rory, a down home Texas beauty, Amy, the Frenchy gourmet nextdoor, and JAG, the G.I. with Latino flare. When it came down to it though I guess for some reason they had to eliminate Amy, making Rory and JAG the 2 finalists that America gets to vote to be The Next Food Network Star. Right? WRONG. During the last 5 minutes of the show it comes out that bi-polar, tight lipped, “you never know which one of me your gonna get” JAG has lied about his past. *Gasp* JAG told us that during his military experience he got a chance to serve in Afg...
Reality Bites - Hell?s Kitchen vs The Next Food Network Star
2007-07-13 11:30:00
Ever since Iron Chef of Japan became a cult classic U.S. television has been experimenting with cooking contests (including Food Network’s excellent American version of Iron Chef itself). From cakes to risotto we all want to know whose ‘cuisine reigns supreme’. Allez Cuisine! Two of the most popular are ?Hell?s Kitchen? which has even made it ...
