He is the first driver to repeat as champion since Jeff Gordon did it in the 97′ and 98′ seasons. Matt Kenseth won the race with Jimmie coming in at 7th place. Gordon finished 4th in the race but it wasn’t good enough to pass Johnson and Jeff finished the season in 2nd and 77 points behind Jimmie. Both Gordon and Jimmie drive for Hendrick Motorsports and in fact Jeff Gordon hand picked Jimmie to be his teammate. The video contains footage of the last 9 laps at Homestead.

Starting off in New Hampshire which I watched from live in person in the pit area and on top of the #29 Shell pitbox was not what it was in past seasons, but in the same respect it showed that one team is a chase contender being Clint Bowyer, who dominated the field throughout the day and picked up his first career victory.However, Dover was completely different and ironicly has been the theme for the chase races so far with the exception of New Hampshire, Dover was a game of survival with Carl Edwards being victorious and with that victory also fined and docked 25 points for right rear being too low which was the right call by NASCAR. This question was asked a couple of nights ago on NASCAR Now and I really think it deserves a classic answer, simply put NO way, its not just a two-man race (being last weekends Talladega winner Jeff Gordon leading by 9 points of his Hendrick teammate Jimmie Johnson.). There is still six races left in the chase, I will say that both Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are had chargers right now and seem to be unbeatable at times, but I wouldn’t count out any driver in the top 6.At this time last season, Jimmie Johnson was a full race out of the lead by -156 points behind Jeff Burton going into Charlotte and we all know he won the championship by 56 points over second place Matt Kenseth. Kurt Busch, Dodge's only driver in The Chase, was part of that on-trace mishap and now ranks 11th in the standings, 157 points out of the lead. Carl Edwards won the race and created a logjam at the top ? at least for now because Edward's car did not pass post-race inspection. Fines possible and point deductions will be handed down later this week. Roolkie Juan Pablo Montoya finished ahead of all the other Dodge drivers with a 10th-place run in his No. 42 Texaco Dodge at the track known as the Monster Mile. For now there's no room at the top of The Chase; Jeff Gordon leads by one point over Tony Stewart, three points over Edwards (stayed tuned) and Kyle Busch 10 points back.

2007-09-15 23:46:00 Picture taken by me last June at NHIS Saturday event.The sights are set on tomorrow's NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race in Loudon, New Hampshire for the Sylvania 300 as it's the first Chase for the Nextel Cup race.Congrats to Clint Bowyer on grabbing the pole for the 300, the other chase contenders are starting well throughout the field including Martin Truex jr. will lineup second right behind Bowyer with 3rd is Kurt Busch, 4th is Jimmie Johnson, 6th is Tony Stewart, 8th is Kevin Harvick which he is also the defending winner of this race, 11th is Carl Edwards, 12th is Kyle Busch, 14th is Denny Hamlin, 18th is Jeff Gordon, 23th is Jeff Burton and last, but could be the spoiler for the championship starting 30th is Matt Kenseth. MIS Nextel Cup Race Rain Update

Looking at the radar it looks like they have a pretty good opportunity to get this race underway and maybe get at least 101 laps in to make it official. There definetly is more rain the area and from looking at the radar it is building and heading in the general area of Brooklyn, MI where they are trying to get the 3M Performance 400 underway. But, if you are optomistic like I am, I see the radar showing that the rain will go slightly north of Brooklyn. But I am no meteoroligist. It has also been confirmed that if NASCAR can not get this race done this week, that it will be moved to the end of the season and become the final race in the Chase for the Nextel Cup.
