NLCS Thoughts and Playoff Reflections; Markakis & A New Contract...
2008-10-09 15:33:00 The 2008 playoffs resume tonight as game one of the NLCS is played in the City of Brotherly Love.Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers take on the Phillies; thus, for me, although I am a fan of the Orioles, the NL style of baseball appeals to me a lot more. That being said, I am very interested to see how this series turns out. Both teams match up well with their lineups, as well as their pitching staffs although I think Philadelphia might have a slight edge with their bullpen (because of Brad Lidge). I think the starters for the first three games are suitable, there?s a significant drop-off from there with their starting rotations for both teams. That?s why I see things so even matched up.Right now, I am picking the Dodgers in seven games for the upset. Why?I think the Dodgers have been greatly underestimated, and obviously Manny in that lineup makes the difference; however, I think Joe Torre has also been a calming influence on this team as well by virtue of his experience dealing in New Yor...

A Side of Nick Markakis You Don't See; He Having Fun...
2008-03-08 05:12:00 This is probably my favorite part of today. If you all remember the Tiger Woods commercial where he juggles a gold ball on a driver, Nick Markakis does something similar with a baseball and a bat. It was quite remarkable to see...Perhaps MASN or the Orioles might want to shoot a promo of him and his skills with a ball and a bat...

The Ceiling of Nick Markakis...
2008-02-07 00:04:00 Amongst a lot of baseball heads and other fans, I've contended that Baltimore's Nick Markakis is probably one of the under-rated players in the game. I've said time and time again during the offseason if Markakis played in either Boston, or one of the New York teams, he'd not only have a Gold Glove, but would perhaps be a perennial All-Star and the toast of the town.Despite his lofty numbers in 2007, he pretty remained under the radar. Well, considering the turnover going on with the Oriole franchise, there's one thing we all know -- Markakis is a sure thing. The national press may turn their eye to Markakis since he plays in Baltimore, anyone who has seen him play on a regular basis knows that he may becoming something special and the cornerstone of the franchise. So at this point, what do you think his ceiling is?

Nick Markakis in Under Armour Commercial...
2007-10-11 06:21:00 In light of the Baltimore Orioles sucking badly in 2007, we have a moment in the sun thanks the apparel company, Under Armour which is also based out of Charm City.Anyhow, take a look at the commercial, and you'll see a very familiar face towards the end of the video -- that's right, our own Nick Markakis finally getting some national prominence. The video also features Braves' fireballer Tim Hudson and the Cubs' Alfonso Soriano.Go Nick, and much love to Under Armour that makes the best athletic gear money can buy.

Nick Markakis at the ESPN Zone; Pictures and Thoughts...
2007-06-14 23:57:00 Nick Markakis at the ESPN Zone - June 14, 2007On a unseasonably cool summer afternoon, fans got to meet Nick Markakis, as held a Q&A & autopgraph session at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore's Inner Harbor on Thursday. The place was packed as there was a standing room only crowd in the facility as Nick took questions from fans about the Orioles and also off the field items.WHFS and Oriole radio broadcaster Fred Manfra moderated the event. The Q&A portion was fairly brief, but fans who were able to play hooky from work or visit the ESPN Zone during their lunch hour got to get their memorabilia signed and get some face time with Markakis.
