Nielsen ratings for the week ending March 9
2008-03-11 11:25:00 Filed under: Industry, ProgrammingHere are the weekly TV ratings, by number of viewers. No shock that American Idol grabs the first three slots again this week (and helps push both New Amsterdam episodes into the top 20), but I'm curious as to why the Thursday results show isn't higher than the...
Making Nielsen Ratings Even More Irrelevant
2008-02-27 16:46:00 ABC announced Monday that it will now start offering their hit shows Lost and Desperate Housewives on on-demand cable services. I think it's a good idea. Cable shows on HBO and ShowTime have been doing that since on-demand's conception, and they haven't lost sales on DVDs or suffered much in the ratings as a result. The hitch in this announcement is that you can watch them whenever you want, but the ability to fast forward through commercials, will be disabled. A poll was taken and apparently 93 percent of the people polled, said they found forced commercial watching was acceptable with the inclusion of free service.Free? You are paying for cable right? You are paying for on-demand. That shit aint free. If it were, then this post would mean something to me. If I'm paying all that money for cable and on-demand, I don't want to be forced to watch cartoon bears discuss wiping their asses with toilet paper...I want to be able to segue past that. It's at least a start in the right d...

Progressives lied. Nielsen ratings died.
2007-10-05 02:04:00 At Newsbusters, Mark Finkelstein catches the Clinton-Soros left in yet another fabrication. At the 2007 YearlyKos konvention, Hillary claimed she'd helped found the Soros-funded Media Matters front group. Yesterday, on MSNBC, Tucker Carlson interviewed Paul Waldman, who is a "Senior Fellow and Director of Special Projects" of Media Matters. Pressing Waldman on Hillary's claim, Under close
