2008-05-04 00:39:00 A report from Nielsen finds top websites benefit from the growth of mobile-accessed Internet, reports Brandweek.Nielsen's study found a major site's audience can increase by an average of 13 percent with the inclusion of mobile-friendly websites.For niche or specialty sites, growth can be even greater. Weather and entertainment sites saw 22 percent growth. And sites focusing on games or music drew 15 percent more visits.Coming in below average were web-based email services, whose audiences grew 11 percent; sports sites grew 10 percent; business and finance sites by 4 percent.At the bottom of the list were shopping sites, which only saw one percent audience growth through mobile sites.The report came from Nielsen's new TotalWeb unit, which measures Internet audiences across all platforms. We know from our regular coverage that almost all of Olbermann?s (and O?Reilly?s too) viewers are over the age of 55 on cable, and it would seem NBC was doing their own little Katie Couric experiment to see if it could capture the youth using Keith Olbermann. Cable shows on HBO and ShowTime have been doing that since on-demand's conception, and they haven't lost sales on DVDs or suffered much in the ratings as a result. The hitch in this announcement is that you can watch them whenever you want, but the ability to fast forward through commercials, will be disabled. A poll was taken and apparently 93 percent of the people polled, said they found forced commercial watching was acceptable with the inclusion of free service.Free? You are paying for cable right? Nielsen research sue by ABS-CBN
2007-12-18 16:14:00 ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. has sued media research agency AGB Nielsen Media Research Philippines over its alleged "systematic, organized and well-funded attempt" to rig television ratings.ABS-CBN filed a P63 million civil case before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Friday against AGB-Nielsen for damages and injunction with an application for a temporary restraining order, the network's chief legal counsel Maximilian Uy told a press briefing Friday."We regret to bring this matter to the public but the Filipino people and the entire media industry deserve to know the truth," ABS-CBN chair Eugenio Lopez III said in a video clip shown during the briefing.Charina Dy, the AGB Nielsen's human resources and administration manager, said it was premature to issue a statement at this point.
