I went up and down his Pitch F/X data from last night and recent starts and outside of the curve weren’t any tangible differences with his other offerings (velocity and movement wise, although he’s toned down his change). Here are some Pitch F/X vertical charts lifted from Brooks Baseball. Below 0 represents sink, drop, etc. I’m using these charts because sometimes the Pitch F/X data incorrectly lists curveballs as sliders. What we’re after is looking at pitches that are below 0 on the vertical chart. Since our manager doesn't seem to care about putting a decent lineup out there, and my team doesn't much care about hitting or scoring runs, I'm resorting to using profanity in reference to the other team. I plan on spending most of the game thread quoting "Anchorman" lines. Anyone have a better idea? Harden felt a twinge in his last outing last Sunday, and in a subsequent side session this week in St. Louis. With Harden's injury, the Cubs don't have to make any move with the bullpen to reactive Carlos Zambrano, who starts tonight against Jake Peavy. Harden will be eligible to return during the Atlanta series, which begins June 2nd at Turner Field. It's his seventh stint on the disabled list since 2005. Julie's love interest, Aaron Heillman, destroyed a decent start from some guy named Randy Wells (5 innings, 5 hits and 2 BBs but 5 Ks and no runs) and two nice innings from the guy in the pen with the surgically repaired arm -- Angel something? Anway. Point being that Heillman came in and gave up a loooong two run HR on a meatball to Braun. Maim, after this shit, you better stop talking about Braun's "good looks". Game over, Brewers take the lead and 84-year-old Trevor Hoffman completely shuts down what's left of the Cubs lineup. Oh yeah, and Ramirez died or something. Great. So that's that for my first attempt at a game thread this year. This team sucks, my favorite player is dead, and the pigpen did what it does best -- gave up the game. Small scoops* are available from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at participating Baskin-Robbins locations. In honor of 31 cent scoop night, Baskin-Robbins will donate $100,000 to the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program. From past experiences, I recommend arriving around 9 since you will have to wait at least 30 minutes between approximately 6:00 and 8:30. 31-cent ice cream is a good deal, but it's not worth waiting that long.* 2.5 oz. scoops (or 3 oz. Soft Serve cones) are 31 cents plus tax where applicable. Limit 3 scoops per person. Sorry that I have nothing funny to add to this note.
