2008-01-18 00:37:00 Norbit (Widescreen Edition) I saw Norbit the other night, and 2 things struck me very strongly. First, in the last few years, Eddie Murphy has really proven that he is one of the premier performers of the last few decades. When you compare Murphy's performance in "Dream Girls" to his performance in Norbit, it's pretty amazing that one guy is able to do both roles. As Murphy has been doing lately, he had a number of roles in Norbit, all in dramatically different costumes, so it's hard to realize it's him each time. In Norbit, Murphy plays the title role, a nerdy, low-self asteem character. And he plays, Raspucia, a heavy, mean black woman. And he plays them both very convincingly. If I didn't know Murphy does this, I might not have noticed it was him in both parts. Pretty impressive. And yes, he's very funny. => Read more!

2007-10-19 10:54:00 Eddie Murphy takes one step closer to reclaiming the comedy king mantle that he squarely held in the 1980s. Some of the highlights in his Nutty Professor movies were the disguises he wore when he played members of his family. He takes that one step further here and it definitely works in most part. Thandie Newton and Cuba Gooding Jr are good support but the story tends to ramble and feels flabby in places. However when the movie is funny it hits it squarely. This is a JM SUCK IT AND SEE.

I was afraid going in that it would follow a predictable pattern wherein all of the funny scenes would have been featured in the various trailers, hence defeating the purpose of actually watching the film. I was wrong, as I so often am. It certainly took the sting out of the unpleasantness that unfolded this evening, even though I extend my congratulations to the Red Sox equipment staff for corking as many bats as they did prior to the inexplicable 11 run explosion this evening and getting away with it.I also wish I cared about the latest Pacman Jones incident. I can't shake the feeling that as a sports fan and a citizen, I ought to have some sort of opinion on it, one way or the other. But I just don't give a damn. Let him play, don't let him play. 2007-02-12 04:43:01 I was originally gonna rate this movie like I do all the others, but I’m not because I admit that it can be offensive to not so much black women in general, but those that are overweight. When I first heard the protests I thought it was uncalled for because Eddie is only portraying a comedic character, but as I kept watching and laughing at different scenes, I wondered if I would be laughing if I was an obese woman. I don’t think so. Now, I’m sorry to say, but Rasputia is an accurate depiction of some women. I’m sure many of us know a Rasputia, someone that is loud, aggressive, confrontational, has an attitude for no apparent reason and is in wardrobe and wiggy violation at all times. But at the same time, the question must be asked why are they acting that way? And I believe the answer is how they are treated in society. They are only reacting to others perceptions of them. Is Norbit Demeaning? Protesters Think So!
2007-02-03 22:28:01 Eddie Murphy has attracted the attention of some Los Angeles area protesters for his upcoming movie, Norbit, that hits theaters on February 9. The protesters, led by Najee Ali, think that the movie is demeaning to African-American women. Basically, they are saying that the big girls are being portrayed in a bad light - “aggressive, unattractive, violent and promiscuous” - to be exact. Murphy plays several roles in the movie, including Rasputia, the offensive character in question. To be shown these images during Black History Month is “a slap in the face and disrespectful,” says Ali. They want Eddie Murphy to apologize for the offensive portrayal. Bar Opp, Inorbit - Malad
2006-04-18 05:17:00 Before visiting So_a bar at Goregaon West, I went to one more bar located at Malad Link Road, Opp. to Inorbit..the bar name is “_reen G___en Restaurant and Orchestra Bar”. As i entered inside, it was full of middle age people, most of them were form high class societies, how i knew that???? there were loads of cars parked outside… Again, I had to cross 2 doors to make a move towards the bar. It was small place, with sofas covering all the 3 walls & at the stage at 4th wall. The orchestra was also matching to the people sitting there….I felt like some one had made all the people including customers and bargirls and singers and muzicians to sit there on a gun point. No action, no excitement, and no hot chips….oh chicks! So, finally I didn’t stayed there for more than 2 minutes and left out.
