North Georgia Foreclosures. Foreclosure Listings
2008-04-06 22:20:00
North Georgia Foreclosures North Georgia foreclosures offer fantastic buying opportunities because they are often available for below market values. When a homeowner defaults on their mortgage and the mortgage lender seeks foreclosure proceedings, whether the homeowner sells through a pre-foreclosure or the home goes to foreclosure auction, it must be sold. Since the mortgage lender only needs to reclaim the amount still owed on the mortgage foreclosure loan debt and not the entire loan amount, North Georgia foreclosures are often sold for below their true market price. In some cases, savings on North Georgia foreclosure homes can range from 10% to as much as 50%, which means not only incredible savings to you but a greater chance to make a big profit on future sales. Because of the recent downturn in the economy, there are a record number of foreclosures taking place, which means you will find plenty opportunities to purchase a home at discounted ...

He brought the deer back to North Georgia
2007-09-10 14:30:00
Deer hunting season got underway in Georgia this past weekend. It’s all too easy to forget that in the early part of the 20th century, there simply were no deer to be had in the northern part of the state. Arthur Woody never forgot that, and today’s hunters in Appalachian Georgia owe him a debt of thanks.Arthur “Kingfish” Woody (1884-1946), served the U.S. Forestry Service from 1911 to 1945, starting out as a surveyor. In 1918 the Federal Government combined various local land holdings into the Cherokee National Forest, part of which extended into North Georgia. A short time later additional land the government purchased was consolidated with portions of the Cherokee into the Georgia National Forest (later renamed the Chattahoochee National Forest) and Woody became the Blue Ridge District’s first Forest Ranger. The district was the first wildlife management area in the South. In the midst of the depression the CCC began to improve the area around Suches, GA thanks to e...

Back from an adventurous weekend in North Georgia. We rented a cabin on Screamer Mountain in Clayton, Georgia. First stop Tallulah Gorge State Park to see the water fall, next on to the Dillard House for a huge dinner. Day two, we crossed the state line into North Carolina for some rafting down the Tuckaseegee River Gorge. Our last day was spent gem mining in Franklin, North Carolina. We had a blast! Check out some of the pictures for our North Georgia Adventure.

Active Adult Communities Take Hold in North Georgia
2007-03-11 16:20:00
Baby Boomers are the buzz. No doubt about it.Less than surprising of course . . . just check out the numbers! (Boomer Stats)Marketing dollars follow the money, and Boomers control a lot of that money -- which is probably why there's a related story every time we log on or tune in! While builders and developers in the real estate arena have been somewhat slow on the uptake, there are a growing number of residential communities that now cater specifically to the growing ranks of active buyers among seniors in residential real estate markets around the country. These developments are mostly located close to major urban areas, but a few now dot the North Georgia landscape as well, with more sure to follow. These "Active Adult" or "Retirement" Communities take many shapes and forms, and it falls on the buyer to understand these differences and make an informed choice based upon individual needs. Some communities bill themselves as catering to active adults or retirees, but don't place an...
North Georgia Development on the Rise
2006-10-21 13:24:00
With all the talk of market slow downs across the country, builder incentives to help sell new homes, and sellers unable to sell their homes, it is surprising to see the numbers on proposed new developments for the North Georgia area.Cherokee County has proposals on the books for approximately $500 million worth of new residential and mixed-use projects, including a 4,000-acre development just north of Lake Allatoona in West Cherokee, currently projected at around 12,000 homes. The Waleska and Ball Ground areas of the county are likewise seeing some large scale projects in the works. Cherokee however has had a very strong real estate market for the past few years and is growing the infrastructure to handle this growth (although expansion of 575 is likely to become a hot button issue before long, as bottle-necks continue to increase and as commute times lengthen from Canton to I-75). But what of Jasper?According to the latest numbers from the Pickens County Land Development Office, d...
