Northern Lights - Sweden my beautiful country ! Have a peaceful night !
2007-12-07 07:49:00
Northern Lights The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are an unforgettable sight, surging in the sky in a variety of colours. They are often visible in Sweden during the winter from early evening until midnight. They are seen more frequently the further north you go. The phenomenon is caused by energy from the sun carried towards Earth on the solar winds. --- The night is designed to end the worries and fears of the day, it signifies to leave it all to God and prepare for another day to come. Have a peaceful night and a blessed tomorrow!

Review: Northern Lights
2007-11-08 10:13:00
Northern Lightsby Nora RobertsFormer Baltimore cop Nate Burke accepts the post of police chief of Lunacy, Alaska (population 506), to stave off the depression caused by divorce and the traumatic death of his partner, for which he holds himself partly responsible. His early days in the close-knit town are quiet except for minor disturbances and a dalliance with a feisty bush pilot, Meg Galloway. Then Meg's father, who disappeared 16 years before, is found frozen in a remote mountain cave, an ice ax in his chest. The discovery that Pat Galloway was murdered—most likely by a local—shakes up the town and drives his murderer to commit a second, cover-up killing. Though state authorities dismiss that death as suicide, Nate pursues it as a crime—a decision that puts him at odds with many outspoken Lunatics, as the townspeople call themselves. With quiet strength he fields the criticism, uncovers long-forgotten events and finds a tough but loving balance with the fiercely independent...
Aurora Borealis or "Northern Lights"
2007-10-13 18:54:00
Should you be outdoors one evening during winter, take a minute and glance up at the skies. If you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of some flickering curtains of lights, apparently dancing across the dark sky. You are watching the northern lights, a celestial phenomenon that has amazed people for centuries. The northern lights have had a number of names through history. The scientific name for the phenomena is Aurora Borealis, which is Latin and translates into the red dawn of the north. It was the Italian scientist Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) who first used the expression. On the latitude where Galileo was living, northern lights consist of mainly red colour. What causes them?Northern lights originate from our sun. During large explosions and flares, huge quantities of solar particles are thrown out of the sun and into deep space. These plasma clouds travel through space with speeds varying from 300 to 1000 kilometers per second. But even with such speeds (over a million kilometer...

He is highly regarded among professional photographers many of whom have used his services extensively. "When the electrically charged particles hit the outer layers of the atmosphere it causes them to glow. Different gases in the atmosphere cause different colors as can be observed from Earth in the many color variations of the auroras. When solar activity is high the sun releases solar particles. These particles travel with solar winds towards the Earth and are drawn into the atmosphere by the earth's magnetic field. The auroras have been a source for all kinds of ideas from the supernatural to reflection of warfires at the edge of the world. Later, more realistically, people thought they were reflections of the Sun.They can be seen in auroral belts that form 20-25 d...

A scenic natural phenomenonThe Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, shines above Bear Lake here Jan. 18. The lights are the result of solar particles colliding with gases in Earth's atmosphere. Early Eskimos and Indians believed different legends about the Northern Lights, such as they were the souls of animals dancing in the sky or the souls of fallen enemies trying to rise again.
