Thoughts from Robert Novak
2008-05-30 19:43:00 Bob Novak needs no introduction. I?ve been a fan of his column since I became interested in politics, and though I?ve disagreed with some of his views every once in a while, I can certainly recognize his keen intellect and wisdom. A couple good points from the Washington columnist: Over 80% Americans believe the country is going ...
Edyta vs. George Novak
2008-05-22 16:24:00 During Tuesday night?s Dancing with the Stars finale, Jason Taylor said that his dance partner Edyta Sliwinska, was the best coach he had ever had. (Yes, I?m admitting that I watched the season finale. Before you make fun of me, how many of you can say that someone who played sports at your high school was a finalist on Dancing with the Stars? I thought so!) Therefore, I thought we should go back and compare Edyta to Taylor?s Woodland Hills High School football coach, George Novak.- Woodland Hills High School football coach for over 20 years- WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League) Championships in 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2002. - NFL players from Woodland Hills coached by Novak include Taylor, Ryan Mundy, Shawntae Spencer, Lousaka Polite and Steve Breaston.- Has never won the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) championship.- Dancer for over 15 years. - Emerald Ball Latin Amateur Champion; 1st place - 2001 International Grand Ball (San Fra...

Rafael Nadal have tough opponents at the Pacific Life Open but he managed to beat them all including Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and James Blake to be in the semifinal. Zellweger, as Novak (again)
2008-02-07 20:23:00 In Down With Love, Renée Zellweger played Barbara Novak. Now she poses as Kim Novak in Vertigo for Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue.I just watched Vertigo last week and was reminded that it really is one of Hitchcock's most beautiful films. Here's Zellweger, and here's a classic clip from Vertigo. Here's a montage accompanied by U2 (I'd mute it - the movie is better than the music). Keep your eyes open for Kim Novak's fabulous costumes.

Congratulations Novak and Maria
2008-01-28 09:51:00 Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova took the singles crowns at this year's Australian Open. It was a pretty fantastic tournament all round, with plenty of spectacular matches and shocking upsets and finally two champions that very few would have picked at the very start as champions - both would have been expected quarter/semifinalists, but they really performed well to take home the coveted title.Novak made his way swiftly to the semifinals without dropping a set and with minimal fuss. He then made surprisingly quick work of world No. 1 Roger Federer in straight sets to set up the final with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a surprise finalist much like Marcos Baghdatis two years ago and Fernando Gonzalez last year. Tsonga took the first set with some spectacular play but was unable to continue his form throughout the match, and Djokovic stepped up the ante to take the next two sets. The fourth set was an arm-wrestle as Novak struggled with a hamstring injury but prevailed with a dominant perfo...

Coulter, Novak and Newt are Fredheads
2008-01-20 00:10:00 Just over a week ago, the news that the conservative propaganda clearinghouse known as Human Events heartily endorsed Fred Thompson for President barely made a ripple outside the righty blogosphere. That’s probably because Drop Dead Fred, despite his ample frame, has barely made a ripple himself in the primary pool thus far. He’s limping along in 4th or 5th place in Nevada right now, beaten once again by Romney, McCain, even the relentless Ron Paul. He might get a boost in South Carolina, where his demonizing brand of redneck swagger unfortunately seems to resonate. Perhaps that’s what Human Events is banking on. Founded in 1944, the magazine has developed a safe Net haven for a murder of right-wing crows, including Newt Gingrich, Bob Novak, Phyllis Schlafly, Pat Buchanan, and the Vladimir Zhirinovsky of the West, Ann Coulter. This blog has previously noted Mr. Novak’s peculiar obsession with Thompson as far back as May 2007, but it was muddled in August wh...
Robert Novak: McCain Shreds Romney's Plan, Is Likely Nominee
2008-01-09 15:47:00 During four final days of campaigning after the Iowa caucuses, New Hampshire's Republican primary was one-on-one between Arizona Sen. John McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Because the winner would become the party's most likely nominee, McCain's decisive victory puts him in a commanding position after being counted out for much of the last year. McCain won a majority of registered Republican voters here as well as New Hampshire independents who voted in the GOP primary (as he did in 2000 when he swamped George W. Bush). Romney's attacks on McCain's liberal immigration policies were popular with Republican voters, but did not resonate with McCain's independent base. Diminished by losing in Iowa, Romney entered the final weekend in New Hampshire some five percentage points behind. His strategists hoped the immigration issue would erase that lead. In fact, accusing McCain of advocating amnesty for illegal aliens had no more impact in New Hampshire than it had i...

The Malevolent Ignorance of Robert Novak
2007-12-25 13:50:00 by Larry C. Johnson When Forrest Gump, aspiring shrimp boat captain, was asked, “Are you stupid or something?” He replied, “Stupid is as stupid does.” So what is Bob Novak’s excuse? Stupidity seems too simple an explanation. I wonder how many people will be required to pull Novak’s fat head out of his ass. It is obviously lodged in a deep, dark place. His latest column, Subverting Bush at Langley, is one of the most ignorant, error-ridden diatribes I have read in quite sometime. How can he even be considered a credible journalist? Oh wait, never mind, he’s commenting at Fox News. Answered my own question. Consider these nonsensical assertions from today’s piece: ...but the Republicans stand alone in protesting the CIA’s defiant undermining of President Bush. In its clean bill of health for Iran on nuclear weapons development, the agency acted as an independent policymaker rather than an adviser. Now I can understand the average American living in Hooverville not kn...

How Robert Novak Sees Mike Huckabee
2007-11-26 22:17:00 Novak seems a little perturbed by Huckabee’s popularity in Iowa: Huckabee, a former Baptist minister educated at Ouachita Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The danger is a serious contender for the nomination who passes the litmus test of social conservatives on abortion, gay marriage and gun control but is far removed from the conservative-libertarian model of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. Like I said before, I like Mike on some things, but there is more bad than good.

ROBERT NOVAK *I'VE SEEN NO EVIDENCE OF DIRT ON OBAMA
2007-11-19 20:42:00 In this video, Fox News interviews columnist Robert Novak, also called "The Prince of Darkness" who in this case spread darkness about Senator Barack Obama by stating that the Clinton campaign claimed to have news about a sex scandal about Obama. Robert Novak: Rudy’s Coup
2007-09-22 22:09:00 Rudy Giuliani scored a hit with conservative activists by getting ahead of his Republican presidential competitors in blasting Sen. Hillary Clinton for not denouncing MoveOn.org’s attack on Gen. David Petraeus. Giuliani caught the spirit of Republican rage over the left-wing MoveOn.org’s full-page ad in The New York Times. On the day Petraeus presented his report on Iraq, the ad demeaned him as “General Betray Us.” Giuliani asked: “Who should America listen to — a decorated soldier’s commitment to defending America, or Hillary Clinton’s commitment to defending MoveOn.org?” Washington-based conservatives this week voiced approval that Giuliani was hitting Clinton instead of other Republican presidential hopefuls. The benefits and pitfalls of flashing the plastic Posted By : Ben Novak
2007-08-27 07:00:00 It was a momentous occasion when credit cards were first introduced. No longer must one have cash before purchasing things, because as the name implies, anyone can pick up goods or services with a credit card and pay up later. The benefits to the economy were obvious as people purchased goods and services that previously they would often had to save up for, or quite possibly never purchased at all
Robert Novak: DEMS DEBATE PICK FOR VEEP
2007-08-19 07:14:00 For some time conventional wisdom leaned towards Barack Obama being Hillary Clintons choice for VP running mate. Robert Novak brings up some good points that might point to Obama being left out in the cold. Hillary ClintonÂ’s numbers for Illinois and blacks are very high to begin with. In some cases even higher than ObamaÂ’s. And taking a historical perspective it has been a long time since a Democrat won the presidency without a southern running mate. Maybe political necessity will win out over political correctness. But that makes sense if you agree that HillaryÂ’s ambition will over ride all other factors. ~RJH New York Post article link DEMS DEBATE PICK FOR VEEP By ROBERT D. NOVAK August 18, 2007 -- ANTICIPATING that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will clinch the Democratic presidential nomination, some supporters are beginning to argue against her principal rival - Sen. Barack Obama - for vice president. They maintain that Obama provides no general-election help for Clinton. As an...
Robert Novak on Hagel and Ron Paul
2007-08-15 17:11:00 Sen. Chuck Hagel, the Senate's toughest Republican critic of President Bush's war policy, has not ruled out a campaign for the GOP presidential nomination and will use the August recess of Congress to make up his mind. A major reason for the unexpectedly strong professions of support for Rep. Ron Paul's libertarian-conservative candidacy is that he is the only announced Republican presidential candidate opposed to the invasion of Iraq. Hagel as an anti-war candidate might attract a broader base of support than Paul. He has received many offers of financial support should he run. Hagel must decide what to do: run for president, run for Senate re-election, or get out of politics. The betting in the Senate Republican cloakroom is that he will retire, but Hagel has given no signal of his intentions and tells friends that he has yet to make a decision.
House of Corruption
2007-08-14 17:16:00 With the midnight hour approaching Saturday Aug. 4 near the end of a marathon session, Democratic and Republican leaders alike wanted to pass the Defense appropriations bill quickly and start their summer recess. But Republican Rep. Jeff Flake's stubborn adherence to principle forced an hour-long delay that revealed unpleasant realities about Congress. Flake insisted on debating the most egregious of the bill's 1,300 earmarks placed in the Defense money bill by individual House members that authorize spending in their districts. Defending every such earmark was the chairman of the Defense Appropriations subcommittee: Democratic Rep. John Murtha, unsmiling and unresponsive to questions posed on the House floor by Flake. Murtha is called "King Corruption" by Republican reformers, but what happened after midnight Aug. 5 is not a party matter. Democrats and Republicans, as always, locked arms supporting every earmark. It makes no difference that at least seven House members are unde...
Congratulations Novak!
2007-08-14 11:56:00 Rising Serbian star Novak Djokovic had a scorcher of a tournament in Montreal last week, claiming the Rogers Cup title in amazing style; he beat No. 3 Andy Roddick (seeded 5th as the seedings were set before Roddick's win in Washington DC the previous week) in the quarterfinals, and No. 2 Rafael Nadal in the semis, before posting his biggest win yet by beating No. 1 Roger Federer in a tense final 7-6, 2-6, 7-6.This is Novak's second Masters Series title... for those of you who aren't too familiar with these things, the Masters Series is a top-class catalogue of nine tournaments throughout the year, second only to the four Grand Slams and the Masters Cup (a year-end elite invitational tournament) in terms of prestige, ranking points and prize money. Novak won the Miami Masters event earlier this year and can add Montreal to his resume. Many see Novak as a future No. 1 player, and so far this year he has been one of the most consistent performers on the tour, really being the only p...
Novak Djokovic wins the Rogers cup.
2007-08-13 13:39:00 The final match of the Rogers cup between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic was at the image of the rest of the tournament. Yesterday's final was a high quality match that ended in a three set victory for Djokovic by 7-6 (7-5), 2-6 and 7-6 (7-2).This was the very first win for Djokovic over Roger Federer in his career. During the course of the week, Djokovic went perfect: he defeated the No3 player in the world (Roddick) during the quarterfinals then defeated the No2 player in the world (Nadal) in the semifinals to finally defeat the No1 player in the world (Federer) during the final.Another challenger for Federer has just shown his colors. Now Federer has to watch Rafael Nadal closely, but now he also has to worry about that 20-year old challenger from Serbia too.An unforgettable week for Novak Djokovic.
