2007-08-10 17:18:00 In some misguided spasm of "she'll use them wisely", I signed Busy Girl's phone up for a measly 200 messages/month. She's had them about a year, and, it's been close to the limit each month, but, it's been OK. Enter: nearly 13 years old. Yes, I know you did just fine without a phone when you were her age (we can debate that later), and, that your darling "messages" you by just calling to the next room because they never leave you, but, the fact is that for many (certainly not all) kids, texting and IM is just the way they communicate. When I was 13, we spent hours on end gabbing on the phone about nothing. Now, fingers fly on the keyboard about nothing, yet everything, to them. At least this way, the phone is still available for my use which is more than my parents could say when I was that age. She's asking to move to unlimited messages, and, she's offering to pay half of it each month. That's fine and dandy, but, she doesn't have a regular income. She could have...
