Nut Nutrition Information For Fitness Energy
2008-06-01 04:26:00
As a young aspiring bodybuilder who was just starting out learning a lot of different methods of building muscle, I was taught "by experts" that fat in the diet was taboo. Any kind of fat. It didn?t matter the source. It was just bad. They were wrong. If you still believe in this myth, I hope I can change your mind after reading this article. The fats I am talking about are from nuts. Peanuts, walnuts, almonds and all other nuts. Being mainly composed of unsaturated fat provide an excellent source of energy. They are also rich in nutrients that are lacking from most people?s diets. Nuts also have phytochemicals, which help prevent cancer, diabetes and hypertension. High in natural fiber. As a whole, nuts are a very healthy nutrition treat that tastes good.As a bodybuilder that is trying to gain muscular weight, nuts can provide the extra calories that are needed. You can snack on them between meals. They are easy to take along with you anywhere. For the bodybuilder that is trying to l...

Vegetarian Nutrition - Joan Sabate
2008-05-27 15:09:00
Vegetarian Nutrition - Joan Sabate Vegetarian Nutrition - Joan Sabate* From antiquity, vegetarian diets have been followed for a variety of reasons, albeit with widely differing nutritional outcomes. As a result, numerous scientific and professional questions have arisen. Currently, professional interest in vegetarian nutrition has reached unprecedented levels. This is only partly explained by the growing number of vegetarians and the increased popularity of vegetarian diets. As disease patterns shifted away from nutrient deficiencies and toward diet-related chronic diseases, vegetarian nutrition research also changed emphasis, and the benefits of vegetarian diets have begun to emerge.* As a practice, vegetarianism dates to quite early times in Western society, at least to Pythagoras, the Greek natural philosopher of the 6th century BC, who founded a religious community in southern Italy in which vegetarianism is supposed to have been part of the rule of life.Pythagoras’ rejec...
Nutrition for Recovery - Post Workout Drink Controversy
2008-05-27 06:44:00
I’ll ask the question: What is the best Post Workout Drink for Nutrition and Recovery? Specifically, what should the ratio of protein and carbohydrates be? Should you also add glutamine or BCAA? How about creatine? Several theories exists, depending on your sport (speed/power or endurance sports), the number of workouts per day (two for swimmers, hockey players or distance runners) or frequency, intensity, and duration of workouts (i.e. the Tour de France) But at a simplistic level, what are your goals? What is most important to you? Performance & recovery, weight loss, or muscle gain? Tom Venuto talked about Post-Workout Recovery Drinks and Fat Loss in a previous article. It is fair to say the most important element is hydration after a hard workout. Second, there are conflicting reports that protein and/or carbohydrates are the critical components after the workout. Thus, a post workout drink makes sense. It should also be noted that for every gram of carboh...

Nutrition Almanac, 5th Edition
2008-05-21 17:21:00
Book Info:Published in 2001Published by McGraw HillISBN 0071373381 Size 3.15MBBook Description:If you eat it, you’ll find information on it here. This 2001 fifth edition of the popular Nutrition Almanac includes updated nutritional composition of close to 1,000 foods, including 35 different cheeses, 25 legumes, 71 fruits and fruit juices, and 17 cuts of chicken. (Prepared foods are not included.) The tables are in bigger, bolder print than the fourth edition, a great improvement for those of us with aging eyes.Despite the title, this is not strictly a nutrition resource. Author Lavon Dunne also includes brief overviews of 15 alternative therapies, whether or not they’re related to nutrition, with resources for more information. However, Dunne does not list the Web sites for any of the resources--a defect surprising in a 2001 edition. When Nutrition Almanac’s first edition appeared in 1973, little was known about the connection between nutrition and disease. In thi...

Just a shout out to one of the guys currently using the Diet Plan.Rich has a few cheat meals per week and does no cardio although he does play footie once a week. He is on a 'full body' plan made up of mainly compounds and although I haven't met Rich he has managed to make some pretty good progress these last few months. Even with a reduction in calories we can see improvements in the upper body with a significant drop in the man boobs (moobs for short) and gut.The reason I wanted to use Rich as an example is the fact that he hasn't tried to lose weight over night or starve himself. He doesn't live on nuts and seeds while beating himself up over an extra piece of toast in the morning. The success has come because his diet IS BETTER THAN IT USED TO BE!You don't have to live like a monk or train twice per day - just make consistent improvements and you will see results!
The 10 Nutrition Rules of Weight Loss
2008-05-20 17:24:00
WebMD Feature from "Runner's World" MagazineBy Nancy ClarkNutritionist Nancy Clark shares ten tips every runner should know if they want to lose some weight.1. To lose 10 pounds of body fat a year, you need to eat 100 calories less per day. Cutting too many calories from your daily intake will sap your energy level and increase your hunger, making you more susceptible to splurging on high-calorie foods.2. Don't skip breakfast. Eat within two hours of waking.3. In fact, eat more breakfast than you think you should. Trade in some of your dinner calories for more calories at breakfast.4. Don't allow yourself to get hungry. Eat at least every four hours, and split a meal in half to make sure you properly fuel up pre- and postrun. For example, eat part of your breakfast before your morning run (a banana) and the rest of your breakfast afterward (a bagel with peanut butter).5. Eat at least three kinds of food each meal from these four categories: breads, cereals, and grains; fruits and...

Look and Feel Younger And Healthier With These Foods
2008-05-16 14:17:00
by Cindy Papp “We dig our grave with our teeth.” This old saying sounds funny and odd, but unfortunately it is true. We are told from the time we are young that food provides calories or energy. But there’s so much more to food nutrition than that. Foods can make you feel healthier and younger - or they can make you deathly ill. It is important to eat healthy with today’s hectic lifestyles. Nutritious foods can help prevent heart disease or allow it to happen. The right foods can help you lose weight or get fat. Some foods even keep your hair and skin healthy and young looking well into your golden years - or allow them to fall out. If you think genetics is responsible then consider this - the nutrition you consume determines which genes are activated and which genes are dormant. By incorporating certain changes to your daily diet, you can look younger while greatly cutting your risk for disease. As time goes on, your healthier food habits can lessen your cha...
30 days
2008-05-16 01:56:00
A lot of times I get hit with this sort of question . ."My mates birthday is on the 15th this month. What should I drink when we head out to keep my calories low?""I have a stag doo at the end of the month and the plan is to go to an Indian restaurant then head out. Whats the best low carb meal you can get from an Indian restaurant?"My reply is usually the same. When creating a good physique you obviously need to get to grips with the diet. Nutrition is vital regardless of goals and people often get so into the whole process that they do worry about going out with friends etc.Lets say you have an average month of 30 days and in that month you have a night out with work which will be messy both in terms of food and alcohol. My advice is just to go out and blow out. One blow out night in 30 will not undo all the hard work you have put in whereas 30 days and nights of poor eating will have more of an impact on your progress.Look at it this way . .Mr A -Eats a textbook diet with quality...
