Offbeat film fever grips Kumar Mangat
2008-05-22 07:57:00 Kumar Mangat, whose film Omkara catapulted him to the position of one of Bollywood's leading producers, says he prefers to fund subjects that would get national awards. "I don't produce films for just money. My aim is to fund films which will give me revenues as well as earn me respect," Mangat, who first produced the Ajay Devgan-Kajol starrer Dil Kya Kare in 1999, told IANS. "I'm eyeing scripts that would get national awards and also win accolades globally," he added. Mangat tasted success in the industry with Omkara, Bollywood's take on William Shakespeare's classic tragedy Othello, which fetched rave reviews and critical acclaim and caused film distributor Eros International's annual profit to jump. "I loved the script of Omkara. It was a very different script, which Bollywood had never worked on. I knew it would do well and as expected it worked wonders and since then I have decided to produce at least one different film in a year apart from fundin...
R. Kelly Trial: Mood Lightens In Court As Offbeat Potential Juror Discusses
2008-05-14 17:53:00 Five more jurors are selected for child-pornography trial on second day of questioning.By Jennifer Vineyard R. Kelly arrives at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse in Chicago on Monday Photo: Charles Rex Arbogast/ AP Images CHICAGO — For the past two days, when prospective jurors have been interviewed as part of jury selection in the R. Kelly trial, Judge Vincent Gaughan has done most of the questioning, trying to provide whatever levity he can to make the process more bearable. Still, it's no wonder, given the cramped confines and uncomfortable chairs of the back room where this all takes place, that the singer was starting to look tired, possibly even bored during the proceedings in his child-pornography trial. That all changed when potential juror Number 37 walked in on Tuesday afternoon. Number 37 was a white male who appeared to be in his 60s, and with his constant looking around and leaning in, he projected an aura of anxiety. Right off the bat, Number 37 set...

North American Occupation Health and Safety Week (2008)
2008-04-25 22:03:00 NAOSH week was first launched in June of 1997; Canada had been running it 10 years prior to that. In 1997 the United States and Mexico joined in. NAOSH week helps to bring safety and health to the forefront for all North American workers. It starts the first week of may every year. Getting started : Participation and enthusiasm are critical for success. We need to establish long term partnerships during NAOSH week. From business leaders, safety committees, the government, suppliers. We want all safety and health organizations to participate through education, meetings and safety demonstrations. This should be a week of fun, friendship, knowledge and safety. When the week is over and you return to work, we want you to be excited and share your experience with those you work with. Get them involved, start planning what you can do as a person, a company, or a community...

Though it's a very long one, we will give a shorter version of it: What to do during peak hours in a shopping complex which is mainly visited by women & there is rush & queue near the elevator leading to reduction in sales. Some things to be considered: no changes can be made to the building or the structure to increase the number of elevators & all the other stuff. Construction and The Economy
2008-03-19 00:55:00 While getting ready for work this morning, I was watching the news, and as you well know the housing industry has been dominating the news. New construction is way down, People can?t afford to build right now. Most are struggling just to make it from week to week, gas for the cars, heat for the homes, groceries. It?s tough. The economy whether it?s up or down affects our industry greatly. Money is tight for everyone from the large corporation to the single family. A lot of it has to do with the lending industry; they have made a mess for all of us. In the construction industry we have been forced to lay off our people, new home and business sites are being bid on by everyone, instead of a few. There just isn?t enough work. We all know the economy will turn around, hopefully sooner than later. We just need to hang in there cut costs where we can, for example; car pooling, running our equipment only when necessary. Put emphasis on controlling waste. There is so much we can do to ...
