An Open Letter to General Wesley Clark (Ret.)
2008-07-10 06:41:00
-By Vince Johnson Dear Wesley: Your recent comments on MEET THE PRESS June 29, 2008 are disturbing and entitled to rebuttal: For example: You said: ?He (John McCain) hasn’t held executive responsibility. That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded — that wasn’t a wartime squadron.? Don?t you realize that the entire United ...

An Open Letter to Velo News : The Journal of Competitive Men
2008-06-01 00:14:00
..Dear Velo News,I'm sick of seeing man after man after man across the pages of your commercial "Journal of Competitive Cycling".Now I'm not what you call a long term reader of your magazine, but wanting to see what all the fuss, gloss and color are about, I picked up two copies from the local supermarket during grocery shopping, over a period of maybe 2-3 weeks. If you want to know how bad this problem is, here, I inspected two issues from the recent past, Vol 37, no. 7 and 8 dated April 29 and May 13.In 98 pages of no.7 above, 2 teeny weeny sections on 2 pages were devoted to female pros.In 110 pages of no. 8 above, one, I repeat, just one page was devoted to women.Whats worse, it was an ad for Continental tires that featured two of the most ugliest, wicked looking, fattest women I have seen in my entire life. It beats me how they can promote tires! After seeing that, I had to puke my Cliff Bars out, the only time I have ever thrown up such magnificent food.If this is some weird p...

An Open Letter to Einstein
2008-05-21 00:00:00
-By Vince Johnson The media has reported that Einstein wrote a letter containing the following quote: ?The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.? (The word ?god? was not capitalized in the article.) The comment ...

2008-05-18 22:43:00
Open Letter to fellow Georgian Ron Paul Supporters:Many of you already know me as someone who worked very hard in support of Rep. Paul in his quest for the GOP nomination for President, that is, up until the business end of the GOP started.  With the assistance of some very dedicated individuals, we were able to give Dr. Paul the highest percentage of votes in the state in our area of concentration, Athens/Clarke county Georgia.  After reading the AJC article by Aaron Gould Sheinin this morning on how awful you all were treated at the GOP state convention, I was  compelled to write this letter. For some of you, this past year was the first time you became active in politics.  Others have been at it for a while.  Many came to recognize some time ago that it is futile to try to change the BIG government parties from within.  I can be counted among those with this belief, which is why I did not participate once the business portion ...

Open letter from Lance Lamberton about Bob Barr
2008-05-17 23:45:00
Dear Libertarian Party Delegate:       As a delegate from the great state of Georgia, I am writing to ask that you vote for former Georgia Congressman Bob Barr as our nominee for President of these United States.  I first became acquainted with Mr. Barr when I moved to Georgia in 2001 and he was serving at that time as a Republican member of Congress.  My impression of him was that he was a strong social conservative who had an impassioned commitment to our fundmental right to privacy from the government as guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.  In other words, he didn't fit the typical social conservative mold which is more than eager to sacrifice liberty for security at any cost, as witnessed by the Patriot Act and other unprecedented assaults on our right to privacy.       After Mr. Barr was gerrymandered out of his House seat in 2003, I witnessed a transformation and evolution from conservative to libertar...

An Open Letter to Attorney General Mukasey
2008-05-17 00:25:00
by Jayne Lyn Stahl Dear Attorney-General Mukasey: It is my understanding that the government now plans to collect DNA from anyone who is arrested by federal law enforcement, and that the samples will be stored in an effort to reduce violence in our society. Moreover, the U.S. government reportedly now intends to take a cheek swab from foreigners we detain, whether they've been charged or not. While Congress may have authorized Justice to expand DNA outreach, as citizens, and taxpayers, we're entitled to know what your intentions are. The concept of DNA collection is, in itself, not a heinous thing. Indeed, if science were to be used to combat wrongful conviction instead of setting up a blueprint for pursuing future incarceration, then I would be a strong proponent of taking DNA samples from everyone who is arrested, and storingthe samples. But, instead, the database in which the DNA will be stored, CODIS, may one day be a holding cell for vital genetic information, as well a...
Open Letter to DNC Rules Committee -- Seat Fl & MI
2008-05-16 19:34:00
Inter-party debates aside, it is time that the Democratic party rise to the expectations of the voters. This is my letter to the DNC Rules Committee urging them to seat the delegates in Michigan & Florida. This is not about candidates, but about how much we as Americans value our right to vote."Dear Sir or Madame:I am writing today as a concerned citizen that wishes to see the higher moral ground of the Democrats preserved in light of the mistakes in Michigan & Florida. I know this issue is complicated, and that the stakes are high for the two candidates seeking the party nomination, but this question of votes is much more fundamental to who we are as Americans, and it demands your careful and thorough consideration. In the United States of America, when votes are cast by citizens, they are then counted and acted upon accordingly. Our Democracy has always stood by this basic and righteous approach to government. Well, until the failed votes of Florida in 2000; that trave...

Open Letter to Michael Putney : Channel 10 News
2008-05-13 06:01:00
Dear Mr.Michael Putney;Channel 10 reporter, Miami-Herald columnistWe are writing to you not only for ourselves but for a number of other people. We would like to have a meeting with you to discuss the following serious concerns:Did you know that anyone can call Elder Affairs, and this in turn could set in motion a chain of events which could land an elder person (or Britney Spears) in front of a Probate/Guardianship judge who can have this person declared incompetent? This judge has the power to take all of the elder persons? constitutional rights away, name a court appointed corporate guardian, their attorneys, caregiver personnel, which could cost everything he or she owns [bank accounts, financial portfolio, social security checks, IRA?s, 401K?s plus ALL real property (home, furnishings, collectibles, cars) everything]!Please read AARP article "Stolen Lives" by Barry Yeoman (on the web). This is an eye-opener. Among the many things stated is that this kind of elder abuse is rampa...

An Open Letter to My Congresswoman
2008-05-09 20:00:00
I knew she would do it, but it doesn't make me any less pissed off.My Congresswoman, the (used to be) Honorable Jane Harman, yesterday voted for HR 3221, the Foreclsoure Prevention Act of 2008. I won't go into why this bill is such a piece of shit other than to say that I am livid that Congress would take money from the vast majority of us in order to bail out the speculators, builders and lenders that got themsleves into this mess, but basically it looks like you and I will be on the hook for 300B of shit mortgages once the FHA insures them. And believe me, we will pay.Hi! I'm a Stupid Old Bitch Who's Too Fucking Stupid To Do What's RightAt any rate, I wrote the dumb cunt a letter on her website - feel free to use it if you would like to drop her a line via copy and paste. Here you go - Dear Congresswoman Mongoloid Harman:Way to go. Good job on voting for what is quite possibly the worst piece of legislation to come in front of the House in recent years, HR 3221. How dare you u...
Dave Grohl Writes An Open Letter To Metallica

What the crap? According to Blabbermouth, Dave Grohl has penned an open letter to Metallica, urging them not to release their new album until it’s ready. I have to say - I don’t understand it. I keep thinking “What’s Dave’s motivation for writing an open letter to Metallica?” I mean, baiting Metallica is huge. And Foo ...

An Open Letter to Mexican President Calderon [Digg]
2008-05-01 14:02:00
OK, back on point. First off, what your “diplomat” Rafael Quintero Curiel did is called “espionage,” otherwise known as spying. At the very least it is called theft, as one can always make the argument that your “diplomat” Rafael Quintero Curiel is not on the take in any way and simply planned to sell the BlackBerries on eBay to augment his income.

2008-04-27 17:09:00
Dear Shane & Andrew, I appreciated your press release "Libertarians call for increased communication to combat child pornography." http://www.lp.org/media/article-_578.shtml Your press release was powerful in that it illustrates how libertarians can lead government (and society) into a more libertarian direction by using such controversial issues to express a better approach. You correctly balanced your statement condoning the need for greater communication between law enforcement agencies while simultaneously focusing upon protection of privacy rights. Further, you elucidated a clear libertarian perspective contrasting victim-less crimes (and the enormous resources wasted on them) versus real crimes such as those in which the the individual rights of the life and liberty of , in this case, children, are at stake. Thank you for having the courage to express a libertarian perspective on such a matter and for defending the integrity of the LP on this issue. The last thing our ...
Open Letter on 'Toronto 11' to Authorities from 19 Groups

by Faisal Kutty In an open letter, the Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) in partnership with the Canadian Arab Federation (CAF), Canadian Islamic Congress (CIC), Federation of Muslim Women (FMW), Islamic Ahlul Bayt Assembly of Canada, Islamic Circle of North America Canada (ICNA Canada), Islamic Society of North America Canada (ISNA Canada) and Muslim Association of Canada (MAC), along with an additional 11 organizations, today asked authorities to consider reasonable bail terms and re-examine the use of solitary confinement for the "Toronto 11." In the letter the 19 organizations wrote: Subject: Authorities asked to consider reasonable bail terms and re-examine solitary confinement for 'Toronto 11' April 22, 2008 During the week of April 14, 2008, charges against four more of the "Toronto 18" were stayed. My Heartfelt Thanks and Apologies...An Open Letter To The MHR Community
2008-04-25 06:32:00
Today was a trying day, to say the least, for the techies hard at work behind the scenes here at SBNation.  It's obvious to everyone that the last 48 hours has been a trying time and I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for hanging in there with us.  What I can tell you is this.... The upgrade to MHR 2.0 HAD NOTHING to do with the extended down time.  This is NOT what you will come to expect form MileHighReport.com.  The platform is as stable as they come and I am damn proud of it, as many of you are. With the draft right around the corner I want you to feel confident that MileHighReport.com will be YOUR SOURCE for Denver Broncos news and nuggets up to and including all of draft weekend.  Tomorrow will be filled with draft primers, getting you ready for the most important Broncos draft in 15-20 years. Thanks again to EVERYONE who makes this site what it is and what it will continue to be. Sincerely, TSG
An Open Letter To The Brother I Wish I Didn't Have - Part II
2008-04-17 07:04:00
Part I of this open letter can be found here.**************************-**********It began the very night of Dad's death. My 13 year old nephew Kenny, my sisters son, was home by himself. He couldn't stand being at the hospital any more and needed some level of normalcy. Dad was very much a father figure to him, and this was going to be so difficult for him. When my mother called you to tell you Dad had died, you asked if she wanted you to go tell Kenny. She specifically told you no. She didn't want you to tell him, he barely even knew who you were, the devastating news needed to come from family. She explained why, she said that we would tell him when we got home. Why, WHY, was the first thing you did after hanging up the phone was to call that child who was alone at home to tell him the only real father he ever knew had just died? How did you think that it was your place to do so? Both you and the grandparents were enraged about the burial plans. Whether or not Dad wan...
An Open Letter To The Brother I Wish I Didn't Have - Part I
2008-04-16 19:59:00
This is the first of a two part letter, because there is too much to say for one post.Part II can be found here.*********************Chatt-er in a small town spreads far and wide, and to my surprise I've heard that I've rebuked you. That you have sincerely offered your love and friendship only to have that brotherly love thrown back into your face. I wish I'd been there, it must have been quite a show. Oh wait . . . I wasn't there because it isn't true.As a child I asked my mother repeatedly "Why doesn't J live with us?" The answer was always the same, though it never satisfied me. "When your dad and his first wife divorced, it was just better for J to live with your grandparents, your dad traveled too much to care for a baby all by himself".As I later found out, it wasn't just a divorce. Your mother took you, 9 months old, to the babysitters in nothing but a diaper. She returned home only to pile all of yours and Dad's belongings in the middle of the living room, set ...

2008-04-14 23:00:00
Last week's Glossop Chronic showed how desperate the Longdendale Siege Committee are to keep themselves in the paper. Last week's article about the 'hacker' that somehow broke into Robert Haycock's email to send a message to his mate David Jones was reprised again! It's often said that if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes true, and that's what Siege and the Chronic are up to here. So we've decided to write to them both, and we'll display our email below:Hello Bob & DavidWell, it's very interesting to see how you are spinning the story of the 'hacker' who broke into Longdendale Siege's email address. Trying to stretch this story across 2 whole issues of the newspaper seems pretty desperate to us.By us, I mean our blog - known either as 'No Mottram Bypass' or 'Stop the A57/A628 Bypass' - we've been writing on the bypass for over 12 months now and you've done your best to ignore us. An open letter to Aamir Khan!
2008-04-14 08:14:00
The Indian national football team captain, Bhaichung Bhutia, barely squeezed in 11 minutes of the mandatory 15 minutes of fame for his principled decision not to carry the Beijing bound Olympic torch in Delhi on April 17. Reason: somewhere between the 10th and the 11th minute his thunder was stolen by actor/director Aamir Khan who stated that he had a different way of wearing his conscience on his sleeve. He would carry the torch but with a prayer in his heart for the people of Tibet. He said, "The Games did not belong to China but to the human race". On screen, it would be called a nuanced piece of method acting. Off-screen it is called positioning. Or is it just a coincidence that among the human race that owns the Games are official sponsors Coca-Cola, a brand Khan carries a torch for through endorsements? Poor man, he will be running multiple overlaps - carrying the Olympic torch as a Coke team member, for humanity's claim to the Games and for the Tibetan cause a...

2008-04-05 00:43:00
Synopsis:On April 3, 2008, Adora Obi Nweze, President of the Florida State Conference of the NAACP and Richard McIntire, NAACP national spoksperson apologized privately for the press conference called by the West Palm Beach Branch of the NAACP and Al Sharpton during a podcast, The Black Women's Roundtable, but publicly claimed they were misrepresented and their views distorted.NAACP employed a ?Muddying the Waters? strategy bringing up unrelated issues when the only criticism levied against the NAACP was its decision to hold a press conference to find injustice without showing that that there has been any injustice.NAACP national spokesman, Richard McIntire, repeatedly stated that the suspects have a right to bail. The Florida State Conference President said that the West Palm Beach chapter was wrong and has been counseled.NAACP said it does not have a stance on Dunbar Village-yet they HAVE spoken on the case, they are just on the wrong side of the fight.A ResponseThursday evening t...
An Open Letter to Matt Walsh
2008-04-04 06:32:00
Dear Mr. Walsh,Enough is enough. It was fun for a while, but now it's just getting ridiculous. It's time to put up or shut up.Your insistence to draw out this Spygate drama as long as possible is beginning to effect my ability to enjoy the greatest sport on Earth.I just recently witnessed one of the biggest Super Bowl upsets in NFL history. Yet, I can't enjoy it because of this dark cloud you've cast over my team. Your insinuations and accusations have almost completely destroyed the NFL for me.Right now, I'm having a hard time being a fan. And it's because of you.The sad part is, I personally don't believe you have anything of substance.I mean, if you did, wouldn't you have come forward already? You claim this has been a strain on your family. If I were in that position, I would want this to go away as soon as possible. As soon as the NFL offered me legal protection, I would have hopped on the next NFL funded plane ride to the NFL Network studio with every piece of evidence I...

Open Letter to Obama Supporters from an Obama Supporter: Let the Contentio
2008-03-30 19:57:00
Senator Patrick Leahy called last week for Hillary Clinton to bow out of the Democratic Presidential contest. Not only is that not likely to happen, it's likely counterproductive to call for it. Hillary Clinton will drop out of the race when she's ready, and the only people she's likely to take counsel from about that are Bill and Cheslea. Further, if there is any chance, however slight, of Hillary winning, then why should she withdraw now?I'm an Obama supporter. But here, from that vantage point, are my takes on various contentious issues in the Democratic race to the White House:1. Let all the voting continue, in every primary yet to be held. There will be more than enough time, after the last primary in June, for the candidates to reassess their positions before the convention in August.2. Calls for a reduction in criticism of Obama and Clinton by Clinton and Obama are foolish. Although I by no means support some of the name-calling that has been going on (such as Jame...
An Open Letter to Entertainment Weekly, Re: Diablo Cody
2008-03-26 18:15:00
Dear Entertainment Weekly, While this rant may come off as slightly bitter since my year of stripping under the name HighDef Daniel wasn’t nearly as successful as Diablo Codys. But I’m completely perplexed as to why you’ve awarded Ms. Cody her own monthly column in your illustrious magazine. Don’t get me wrong, this TV Addict is a huge fan of JUNO and wishes Diablo all the success in the world. But when did Entertainment Weekly become Diablo Cody Monthly? See Diablo travel Europe to promote JUNO! Read Diablo’s Oscar Weekend Diary! Follow Diablo to ‘Movie Camp’ as she hobnobs with the likes of Hayden Panettiere, Gillian Anderson, Adam Brody and Will Smith! We’re living in the digital age here. If we cared that much about Diablo Cody we could easily stalk her virtually. Isn’t that what MySpace, twitter and blogs are for? It’s time you handed Entertainment Weekly’s back page back to the likes of Stephen King and Mark Har...
Open Letter to ?Baseball Tonight?
2008-03-26 04:56:00
I am a huge fan of the show Baseball Tonight but what I witnessed a few days ago almost made me vomit, in a metaphorical sense, of course. Google's Open Letter to FCC for Opening Up the White Space for Wireless Int
2008-03-26 00:20:00
After losing to Verizon in the much-hyped spectrum auction, it is speculated that Google has written a letter to the FCC asking for permission to use the "White-Space" between channels 2 and 51 on TV sets (which is not used by cable services) to offer wireless broadband services. Such a move would offer up more coverage and maybe even faster, more reliable and affordable internet over air-waves. This could surely open a lot more possibilities for consumers, but what urges Google to take the... Please Click the Title for the Full Story

Open Letter to John McCain
2008-03-22 12:09:00
by Joel S. Hirschhorn Every few days I get yet another mailing begging me for money for your campaign. There is always explicit language about my being one of your supporters. But I do not support you for president. You are an abomination, because of your support for President George W. Bush and his unjustified, immoral and illegal Iraq war. Everyone who sees a McCain presidency as a continuation of the Bush administration is totally correct. Apparently I receive all of your solicitations and phone calls because years ago I contributed a small amount when you were running in the primary against George W. Bush. As an independent, back then I saw you as someone with integrity and honesty. That is no longer true. Your unabashed support for Bush’s war and your public actions showing admiration for him are an insult to your military and public service career. It is not, as you assert, that the presidential race “will be won on experience, issues and ideas, because that is wha...

Easter: Open Letter To Friends and Family
2008-03-20 17:50:00
Well folks, I have been away from the blogsphere for a week or so, but not away from work that needs to be done. Hope all has been well. Since Easter is coming up this Sunday, I will just post the open letter I sent my friends and family as a reminder to what is most important this holiday season. At the end of January I told you ?I Love You,? but I don?t have a perfect love. I could feel the pressure of your new growth under the skin next to my nose, and I had that excited feeling I get whenever I anticipate something I enjoy.I know that happily anticipating the growth of a deep, infected zit may sound odd, but I really do enjoy the satisfaction that comes from squeezing out all the junk after one of you has risen to full pus capacity. So, really, I was only excited to see you because I knew that I would eventually murder you.It is not a sweet life into which you are born, and for that, I am sorry. But that was way back in the days when you were known as Deep Pimple. Now, as butterflies transmogrify from caterpillars, you are known as Festering Sore, and I am much less crazy about you.
