Why the "Opie and Anthony" Suspension Scares Me
2007-05-25 12:41:00 When Don Imus was fired a little over a month ago this action sent a direct message to radio hosts around the country to watch what they say or else they will be fired. When the firing happened I thought this was just a one time scenario that was bad and the issue of policing the radio waves would be swept under the rug. I was wrong. Since the firing of Don Imus two other shock jocks have been fired. Jeff Vandergrift and Dan Lay who hosted "The Dog House with JV and Elvis" were fired by CBS Radio because they made a prank call to a Chinese restaurant which was offensive. I don't have much of a problem with this, but what I do have a big problem with is the recent suspension of "Opie and Anthony" on XM satellite radio."Opie and Anthony" were suspended for 30 days for airing a segment in which a guest expressed desire to have sex with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, as well as First Lady Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth.
