What are your opinions on Zune Pass?
2008-07-09 02:19:00
Is there a lot of popular songs on there? Are there any hidden fees? Can you use it on multiple computers or do you have to buy it for each computer in a house? Do you have to have a Zune to use it? Or can you use Itunes? I have an Ipod, just the Zune Pass seems cheaper ...

Right Wing looney tunes subverting the minds of America?s youth
2008-06-07 02:40:00
You hear it every night on late night talk shows such as Rollye James and Art Bell and George Noory and it’s expected that some losers actually believe the talk about North American Unions, Superhighways to benefit Mexico and China and the like, and each time I hear these claims, I shake my head in ...
Damn Their Opinions!
2008-06-07 02:36:00
The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls. –Elizabeth Cady Stanton A common question I get is, “When is a girl ...
Advanced Opinions
2008-06-04 08:52:00
This month I?m back to teaching all lower level classes, although during April and May I taught an advanced class. It was loads of fun, as my students were actually able to share their opinions with me (as opposed to the lower level classes, where conversation revolves around simple questions like ?What did you do yesterday??). I?m really going to miss my advanced class. Anyway, here are some of the (unedited) answers they wrote on their exam; I thought you might be interested in their opinions. What is your opinion of the ?compensation culture? that has developed in America? In America it is very stupid I think. Because in some situation the person guilty by himself, not because floor is wet or coffee was very hot. People should be more careful. If I were a judge, I never decide that people should take money if they wasn?t be careful. But in our country, if you are say truth and you are right, unfortunately, to win in judge is very difficult. You must give bribes for a jury. But if y...

Valued Opinions
2008-05-31 19:35:00
Hi, after so many days I thought of updating about a new popular survey site. The only thing is this site, Valued Opinions is not for international members. Only people from Australia, United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland are eligible to participate in these surveys. Also they are providing surveys to Indians, but the site which is related to India is not stable. Any way right now this site is climbing up in survey sites list. The money we get for completing these surveys is not worth the time we participate. So those who are much free without many survey offers can participate in these. Also the surveys will take time to come after registering with them. Hence its a slow process but they are getting many survey offers.
How to Observe Memorial Day
2008-05-26 22:55:00
Each year, Canadians observe a national day of remembrance on November 11. Fracas has many American friends… good, kindhearted and wonderful souls who have helped me over the years, understand that as a Canadian, the typical smug, self-righteous attitude many Canadians hold towards our American neighbours is just wrong. So today, I choose to support and honour my ...

Why Chrysler?s New $2.99/gallon of Gas Promo Is Merely So-So

By now everyone?s heard of Chrysler?s new incentive in which they offer to lock in a gallon of gas at $2.99 for up to three years on a new Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicle, up to 12,000 miles a year of course. Sweet deal, aye? So that leaves just one question; what?s the catch? And ...

A Touching Story About A Mother and Her Car
2008-05-11 09:15:00
I’m not one who shows his emotions a whole lot. (The word “never” comes to mind.) However, a story I read yesterday in the Wall Street Journal really struck a chord with me. It was about a man who had to come to grips with the loss of his mother by finally getting rid of ...

Rush Limbaugh appeared on Fox News this week and insulted Los Angeles? Hispanic mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Arai Yenn 305 il kadavul - tamil movie review
2008-04-28 07:27:00
I heard about this movie in the evening and watched it a couple of hours back. Till date, I've seen movies I loved, movies that were boring and movies that were OK but this is the first time I'm confused so much between the goods and bads in a movie. There were scenes that kept me spell bound and even before I could recover from the impact of the messages there'll be the silliest scene I could imagine, coming up. But despite all the oddities I should say the movie is a pretty decent entertainer.Shankar has proven that he is a smart producer investing minimally and producing a good movie. Somehow he doesn't turn out to be an economical director and his budget never stays within 30 crores (300 million). The movie is a mix of philosophies, fantasies, absurdities, science and realities but the only problem is that all these don't form a homogeneous mixture. The director is confused by too many things and at one point, I could sense the movie's screenplay going out of control. Imag...

Brutally Honest Monday #3 Bring your opinions and snark
2008-04-21 20:11:00
© Mrs. Flinger 2008. It’s that time of the week again! Time for you to get judgey and tell me your opinion. (Yes, this is different than any other day of the week. See? I’m ASKING for it.) This one is easy: Keep? Or Toss? Exhibit 1: Old Navy sweater Circa 2000. Lime green with thick banding on waist and wrist. Comes to just below navel. Looks fab with high waisted pants. Except that I’m afraid the short preppy sweaters and high waisted pants aren’t in anymore. Unless you’re 56 and working in the principals office at the local elementary school. And then it’s hip if you were your white sneakers so you can walk on your thirty minute lunch break. Dude, I can know fashion. Exhibit 2: The Banana Republic “The Only Thing I Could Ever Afford There” shirt: It’s black, waist length (again! what’s with that?), with three quarter sleeve. If I lift my arms, mah VERY SEXAY belly pokes out just a wee bit. Hel...

Is outsourcing bad?
2008-04-20 03:42:00
A few months back, the client company for which I was deputed in US decided to switch software/software service vendors and eventually that means that employees from our company would be replaced by the employees of the competitor. But quite unexpectedly this created a buzz in the little town where we live. The link below is an excerpt from a local newspaper's website.http://www.tampabay.com-/news/business/article456721.ec-eThere are a lot of legal and moral issues listed in the article but what attracted me was the comments section. There were so many people who considered that outsourcing is a threat to the employment of US population and foreigners especially Indians take away a lot of their opportunities. Looking at this whole thing from a conservative bird's eye view, there are a lot of reasons to believe so. Some of them are1. A lot of Indians could be spotted in Oldsmar (the town where I live) especially in and around the client location.2. Apartments meant for the economical...

Opinions on Whole Life Insurance as an Investment Tool
2008-04-09 06:11:00
By Elizabeth Newberry Yes, it costs more, but whole life insurance packs a few perks that term life insurance doesn’t. The perk most people are interested in is the fact that whole life insurance usually offers fixed premiums; since it covers you for life, you could have fixed premiums for life. Term life insurance doesn’t cover you for life, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing; however, you could end up paying higher premiums upon renewal. Opinions vary from person to person as to whether fixed premiums are enough to make whole life insurance the better life insurance. The perk that tends to form stronger opinions, however, is the investment component that comes ith whole life insurance policies. Whole life insurance policies come with an investment component, often referred to as “forced savings,†which is money your policy accumulates based on dividends the life insurance company pays you, and life insurance companies that sell whole life insurance policies label t...

Non-Resident Indian parents
2008-04-08 21:00:00
I've already spoken about the problems faced by Indians in completely adapting to a culture due to ideology conflicts. The height of that, I'd say is the way Non-Resident Indian parents bring up their kids.Americans bring up their kids in a totally different fashion. The syllabus is limited and the elective concept is brought in at very early stages of their curriculum. Parents hardly shout at their kids and even when committing mistakes, kids will not be reprimanded. Indian education traditionally has been of high standards and until the child comes to an age where s/he can decide what is needed and what is not, choices are not provided. In the recent past, things have become tougher with parents forcing their kids to excel not only in education but in extra/co-curricular activities too. An average Indian parent would say his/her child should rank first in the state, play cricket like Tendulkar, chess like Viswanathan Anand, sing like SPB/Chitra as the case may be and be an obedi...

Top 10 Class 'A' actors ever...
2008-04-06 00:02:00
If you had a chance to read my post named 'Anderson... Sam Anderson', I spoke about three flavors of actors and this post is about the first flavor of actors I spoke about - actors who dedicate themselves and provide the best quality output to their fans. Again, it's not a universal constant and art is complemented by the reach, interest and admiration of the viewers. So out of the movies I've seen, the acting I've enjoyed and the performances that made a difference (in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English movies), I've picked 10 great actors and their (arguably) best performance, of course limited by the availability in You Tube.Sivaji Ganesan:He's considered to be the best actor in Tamizh film industry so far. I've embedded the clip from Devar Magan where he and Kamal haasan talk to each other about the violence in their village. Kamal would try his best to match him, but Sivaji just outranks Kamal.Kamal Haasan:Not a surprise entry in this list! One of the best and arguably th...

The Pursuit of Happiness
2008-04-04 04:08:00
One of my all time favorite movies is 'The Pursuit of Happyness' starring Will Smith. But as the spelling for happiness indicates in the subject, this is not about the movie and is yet another philosophical crap resulting from a few hours of glare at the roof of my bedroom. Hope it doesn't get too heavy for you...As the movie states happiness is something pursued and not something that is existing. A beggar gets happy if he gets some food to live on, while a millionaire (and a software engineer too) hardly cares about timely food. The situation is the same but the context is different and one is immensely happy about it while the other hardly considers it.Thinking down this path to the days when man evolved from a bunch of apes, I could observe the best catch 22 situation I've ever seen. After all it is God who assembled the pieces in the puzzle and it is bound to be beautiful. Animals spend all their life roaming around, feeding and reproducing; and hardly any sense could be ma...
