Ramsay is a terror...but a terror who you could respect because he leads by demonstrating. It's not just hot air and postulating....I learnt that shrimp, when they are caught...go through so much stress....that their color intensifies, and the taste of their flesh changes. Can you imagine that....shrimp...they get stressed.... and they release some sort of chemical that causes a change in their taste...It made me think about stress and humans... then I remembered advice No. 100 from "Life's little Instruction Book" which says...."Spread crunchy peanut butter on Pepperidge fram Gingerman cookies for the perfect late-night snack"..... Ahhh....the perfect anti-dote to any stressful situation!thought du jourMISC. RAMBLINGS HEREOhh...here's one of my favourite thing...

2008-04-11 16:29:00 Not in the Dana Carvey way, but more like Elijah on Passover. This applies not only to Goldman Sachs but to lots of other companies in this space. Jamie Dimon realizes this and has done some bargain shopping. He's a great operations guy and he imagine to get the remaining meat off the bones and left the Fed with the carcass. I am eyeing Goldman Sachs(GS) really hard, like she's the one girl at a party full of guys. Goldman is trading at a discount to the market and its peers when it comes to P/E, P/CF, P/S, and P/B. Remember, these are the guys who avoided the whole subprime meltdown. I think it's only going to get cheaper when everyone else reports and get killed; it'll be guilty by association. I'm thinking about picking up shares at the end of the week. This may be the last time left to buy Goldman at a single-digit P/E. As for the latest socialist bailout, I am reminded of the Rolling Stones' "Salt of the Earth." I think it applies here. Raise your glass to ...

2007-10-05 06:51:00 New Mexico Republican Senator Pete Domenici announced his retirement today, ending speculation over his political future after being implicated in a Justice Department scandal earlier this year. The 75 year old veteran lawmaker becomes the fourth Republican to opt against re-election, joining Wayne Allard of Colorado, John Warner of Virginia, and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. As with those open seats, New Mexico is sure to become a prime target for Democrats looking to build on their narrow majority.Domenici suggested health concerns were the primary reason for his decision, revealing he has a form of dementia. The on-going Senate ethics investigation, however, certainly made Domenici's decision all the easier. It is alleged that Domenici called former US Attorney David Yglesias to pressure him about political sensitive indictments. Newman, who hails from South Bend, Ind. raced at one of those tracks a couple of weeks ago when the NEXTEL Cup hit the famed Indianapolis Speedway.Newman arrives at his other "home track" this week, as Michigan is the next stop on the "Race to the Chase."With just four races remaining until NASCAR heads into its post season, Newman is on the outside looking in - but just barely.
