Week eleven: Oswald & Danny
2007-05-03 16:52:00 ----As noted in my original recaplette for the week, the course layout for the leg 12 in Guam of "The Amazing Race: All-Stars" did not allow much of an opportunity for teams to build long time gaps. Such a gap would have been needed for friends Oswald and Danny to make the finale as the team was required to either finish in first place or more than 30 minutes ahead of another team to stay in the race.As it turned out of course, Oswald and Danny didn't finish ahead of anyone on the penultimate leg even without factoring in the "mark of elimination." The friends took what would be an obvious elimination from All-Stars.----Equalizations worked both for and against the team. Oswald and Danny were equalized in the positive way by barely making a connecting plane from Tokyo to Guam after missing the first flight out of Hong Kong. The friends were then the first to leave Guam's airport driving to the U.S. Air Force base only to discover that the needed military escorts to access the base...

2007-04-30 03:44:00 ----There really weren't any major controversies on this next to last leg of "The Amazing Race: All-Stars," hosted by the United States military in Guam. Racers being closely supervised by America's best for most of the leg prevented any possible race shenanigans. The military theme was a commendable one but didn't necessarily make for the most interesting racing. ----Dustin and Kandice ran another virtually mistake free leg, to win yet another race leg by a significant margin. With no opportunity for hijinks, the beauty queens proved themselves as legitimately solid racers in excelling at the Roadblock and Detour tasks. I wish that they would realize for their final race leg that the low road tactics just aren't necessary for them and probably never were necessary.----Eric and Danielle had some of the feared internal bickering but hardly enough to threaten either their relationship or standing in the race. 2007-04-25 23:16:00 ----The focal point of the tenth episode, eleventh leg of "The Amazing Race: All-Stars" from Macau, China was clearly Oswald and Danny's decision to cede the Yield power to Dustin and Kandice in order to replenish their lost monetary funds. The irony of course is that we heard Oswald and Danny explain at the start of the episode that they didn't want to backstab anyone in order to stay in the race. (We don't know when those comments were really made due to editing.) Of course, Oswald and Danny came to believe incorrectly that they would in fact have to backstab Eric and Danielle at the direction of Dustin and Kandice to stay in the race.What the friends didn't know at the time was that there was a third option to become available, the option to receive funds from Charla and Mirna without selling their collective game souls in the process.----Without Charla and Mirna though, the question was a very simple one. 2007-02-20 00:00:04 I spent most part of the day outside to see what exactly is this phenomenon called Carnaval that stops Brazil for almost a week. I took my camera with me hoping to find nice shots of authentic Carnaval on streets of Rio to show Loronixers. Unfortunately, I could not make good shots in the middle of the crowd swinging and singing. Actually, this was a useful day; I could realize what exactly is my problem with Carnaval. I cannot feel happy as everybody uses to be in the middle of a parade. Carnaval is great, if you live outside of Brazil, come to see it next week, but it is something that I cannot explain is why everybody gets happy at Carnaval. Anyway, perhaps the problem is with zecalouro.Let's continue today with that series of posts that zecalouro never had the nerve to share due several reasons. Everybody knows that zecalouro does not have Samba Rock authority to make a serious evaluation of this friend statement. I will tell you honestly what I think: this is a crazy record that mix several things together such as: samba, baiao, forro and sometimes ROCK on a dancing set. If you are looking for something to make you kick around the house, this is the LP for you. Oswaldo is teamed with another Brazilian band called The Pop at this LP.Oswaldo Nunes died early, murdered at his apartment in Rio. The reason of his death is still a mystery.
