We might as well call ourselves tree trimmers as Christians

?This is turning into the I Hate America Tour.?By Mike Palecek5/11/07"I ain't got no home. I'm just a ramblin' round, I go from town to town."---Woody Guthrie#20 The American Dream Book Tour & Protest Across the USANOT IN PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND ?These perfect towns of Connecticut make me want to puke.Yesterday I was heading toward Providence on I-95. I started to shake, sweat, and pulled the Honda off onto the exit for Madison, Conn. After waiting for one hundred traffic lights I saw to my right a big yard, maybe a park. I pulled around, down the lane, hurried out and got on one knee and dry-heaved on the front lawn of the First Congregational Church of Madison. You would think the yard would be filled with folks leaning out their windows, beside their cars, on both knees, hurling ? to see this sight. This humongous white church: six pillars on the front porch that two strong men could not reach around and touch pinky fingers. And behind the pillars, blowing in the breeze. Of cours...
What Do We Have To Say For Ourselves
2007-05-06 17:03:00
Dearest readers, As you will have noticed, we've gone into Blogging Lite mode as of late, missing last nights game and possibly today's as well. In my neck of the woods, the big bad Finals monster has reared its ugly head and has cut my blogging time short. RK, meanwhile, is a roadtrippin', enjoying these lovely gas prices and celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Fear not, though blogging may be sporadic this week, the true dialogic nature of our posts will return in due time, once I vanquish once and for all the big bad Finals monster. In somewhat good faith, WV
Prepare Yourselves for the Inevitable Zombie Revolution
2007-04-06 07:20:00
I’m generally not a person who concerns himself with impending disasters. I didn’t load up on food and water when Y2K rolled around. I didn’t duct tape my doors and windows after 9/11. Sometimes I don’t even wear underwear after a trip to Taco Bell. However, I feel very strongly that we ...
Discuss Amongst Yourselves: Wooden or Auerbach?

A little March Mannyness: the voices were pondering aloud what I found to be an interesting, logically impossible scenario... And being the Libra I am, I can't really make up mine own mind! Who would I want as my coach in a championship run? Imagine there was no concept called time and you
Discuss Amongst Yourselves: Reaching the Homer Plateaus (in 2007)
2007-03-27 20:47:00
Sure there's this Barry guy possibly surpassing a career mark.... There are currently FOUR players within shouting distance of the formerly illustrious 500 career Home Runs plateau. Coming into the 2007 season, Frank Thomas (487), Jim Thome (472), Manny Ramirez (470) and Alex Rodriguez (464) are

[MLB] To protect and serve, ourselves
2007-03-19 22:56:00
What are the perks of being a major metropolitan police officer in America today? Well, the pay is decent, they offer a good retirement plan, medical and dental are included, and as an officer you are free to pick and choose what you want to use as your ...
Time to barcode ourselves?
2007-03-16 11:21:00
&-nbsp;    &n-bsp;    &nb-sp;    &nbs-p;     -;     -     &-nbsp;    &n-bsp;    &nb-sp;    &nbs-p;   Does anyone get tired of carrying around credit card?  I wish I could just let them scan my palm print or retina or maybe a bar code on my wrist, I know some want to embed chips under the skin.  But I am one not to be tracked by satellite.  Just away not to have a debt card, barcode on hand and pin number. We current have barcode on cans cloths, tires, DVD, books, If products do not come with barcodes,  pipes, large objects, then we will have to make our own or buy cheap asset labels for that product to inventory in and out of a computer.  Barcodes and computers : with a barcode you could scan it and bring up description and detail on produ...
Discuss Amongst Yourselves: Bracketology and the NBA
2007-03-14 02:08:00
Talk about MADNESS! I still haven't looked at the NCAA Tournament brackets yet. At this point, I'm trying to see how long I can go! So I'm not qualified to answer this crumb of ponderment: How would the worst NBA teams do in this year's bracket? Say the Memphis Grizzlies or Charlotte

Steel Yourselves

If the current House and Senate Democratic leadership were sitting atop Capitol Hill when the US entered W.W.II, you'd be eating schnitzel in celebration of Oktoberfest, or ringing in the new year with a nice warm sake.
Real real estate professionals please help yourselves
2007-02-08 17:57:01
I just still don’t understand it. Real real estate professionals need to get out and show that they do bring value to a real estate deal. I believe there are some who are trying, but they are caught in the brokers vise. Brokers have the most to lose as we head into the new online real estate transparent relm, and they want to stay relevent to the transaction in order to stay in business. Surfing around for real estate news I found the Buzzmachine Blog and this post “real estate agents are next”. This article and the comments are a small fraction of what is brewing out there in real estate clients and potential clients heads.
Discuss Amongst Yourselves

It's Christmas Eve, y'all. I've got WAY more fun/interesting/necessary things to do today than sit in front of the computer and pour my guts out to you. So...A co-worker of mine gave me this book as a Christmas gift earlier in the week. It is truly awesome! I love giraffes and have collected all things giraffian for several years now. So this is perfect. The humor is just my cup of tea. Also, browse around this website from the authors. It will give you an excellent sense of the whacked out, non-sensical tone of my book. And, while you're at it, I think you should all become well versed in this language. So get crackin'. There'll be a test later.Merry, Merry and all that. Catch ya on the flip side.
Entertaining and Amusing Ourselves Till Death Do Us Part
2006-12-20 15:22:00
Ever been married? Ever been married unofficially? Have you ever experienced the idea of being virtually married to an idea or concept in your head ? This is not an online SWF seeking anything blog or anyone blog. This is a piece about Baby Einsteins. In Baby Einstein land everyday is Christmas. Preferring not to specifically not to mention any copyrighted names, I'll refer to this huge conglomerate company as Baby E=mc2 Land. According to KidFluence, not to be confused with Affluenza(there's a lotta flu's goin'around today on the Free Speech and Link T.V. docudrama T.V.) they claim we are turning kids into screens and screens only kids. Screens and Screen only! I just had to repeat that line so it would sink in there. Which only leads me to believe that my grandsons and granddaughters will be amusing, and entertaining themselves till death as like no other time in history (that's human history, not just My Country Tis' Of Thee his...
Bringing problems upon ourselves
2006-12-02 15:40:13
In considering the effect of obedience to the laws on individual lives, one must remember that the purpose of this life is to prepare the soul for the next. Here one must learn to control and direct one's animal impulses, not to be a slave to them. Life in this world is a succession of tests and achievements, of falling short and of making new spiritual advances. Sometimes the course may seem very hard, but one can witness, again and again, that the soul who steadfastly obeys the law of Bahá'u'lláh, however hard it may seem, grows spiritually, while the one who compromises with the law for the sake of his own apparent happiness is seen to have been following a chimera: he does not attain the happiness he sought, he retards his spiritual advance and often brings new problems upon himself.Universal House of Justice 6 February 1973
Men! Keep Yourselves in Hand!
2006-11-15 18:11:00
It is not a secret that the majority of men are overwhelmed by the passion for cool cars and mechanical items. It is really difficult to imagine their surprise and reverence when there appeared Breitling for Bentley watch line - two legendary awe-inspiring names united by one thing that is small enough to be put on a wrist. Men all over the world appreciate British-made Bentley automobiles not just as the most prestigious ones, but as works of art, with every single detail being perfectly crafted. Breitling creations need no introduction - the brand's watchmakers follow the same priority - create watches with major concern for detail. In 2006 the watchmaking company made Breitling for Bentley fans happy with the introduction of a new luxurious and sophisticated timekeeping creation - the Flying B. I'm sure no matter of your sex - you would not be able to take your eyes away from the timepiece. The elegant case featuring slightly-bent rectangular lines and original combination o...
Deceiving ourselves
2006-10-13 20:03:03
Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, declared, “I personally will not head any government that recognizes Israel.” The message is straight and clear. Even if we squeeze a half-hearted yes from Hamas, what would be the value of that agreement? They would lie, and seek a way to undermine Israel. Arabs are unburdened by ethics, always a product of centuries of civilization. Just like the Europeans in the Middle Age, Arabs today are notoriously crafty, deceptive, and do not honor the agreements. Even if they sign peace with Israel, they would wait for a chance to strike.  Arab leaders and factions pay little regard to their own promises, but specifically denounce treaties signed by their predecessors, their internal enemies. Israel reached silly and treacherous Oslo agreements with Arafat; Hamas rejected them. Israel had essentially a peace treaty with Lebanon in 1983, and saw it revoked a year later. Palestine will have to justify Saudi and Iranian subsidies. Sharjah emirat...
Seeing for ourselves
2006-08-20 20:24:03
As soon as the cease-fire went into effect on Monday (14 Aug) Irit suggested that we drive up for a few days to the Galilee (northern Israel) which bore the brunt of the 4000 Katyusha rockets that were fired at Israel from 12 July ? 14 August. We drove up on Tuesday and were amongst the very first visitors after the war. It was a fascinating trip and I have a lot to report, which I?ll start tomorrow. Meanwhile you can take a look at the photos I took on that trip. They are in http://www.flickr.com/photos/dl-isbona/sets/72157594212420512/- . For those that relate directly to the war, see http://www.flickr.com/photos/dl-isbona/sets/72157594242301485/- (will be updated in the next couple of days). Thanks for your patience. The picture on the right shows one of many tracts of land in northern Israel that were burnt by brush fires caused when Katyusha rockets landed in open spaces.
