The real estate industry is the search technologists' siren's song.  They find a better way to search and look for applications to industry verticals. They see real estate, with its complex data parameters and believe that any iteration that makes search a little bit easier will become the consumer Holy Grail. In addition, they perceive the industry as a cash cow with agents and lenders, etc. making commissions of 4 to 5 digit fees, and believe it's more lucrative to capture a small % of these huge fees than to apply search to lower fee capture products like dating or retail.Of course, the reality is simplifying search doesn't matter to the consumer. Just today, I read a post on a popular local message board from a member called "JJS" detailing several of the things in Playa del Carmen he found "overrated" by fellow forum members. While, I did agree with a few of his list items, (I too find the blueberry margaritas at Babes to be just awful) one stuck out like sore thumb. In his ESPN chat yesterday, Nate Ravitz was asked which five players in the Top 50 he wouldn't touch with a 5' pole.  He answered Albert Pujols, Erik Bedard, BJ Upton, Cole Hamels or Robinson Cano.  This immeidately made me think of which ones I would avoid in most circumstances. Top get a Top 50 list, I used the ADP list from Mock Draft Central posted yesterday afternoon.  Man, I wish it included Cole Hamels and Robinson Cano because it was much harder to find five in the Top 50.  But choose five I will.  The ADP is also noted. 1. Albert Pujols 1B (7): I am scared of the elbow and see too many similarly-skilled players worth taking (Chase Utley, Miguel Cabrera, etc) to risk losing Pujols for the season to Tommy John surgery. 2. One of this winter's biggest free agent winners was CF Aaron Rowand, formerly of the Philadelphia Phillies now current mantle holder of Most Expensive San Francisco Giant.  In his walk year, Rowand put up career high power numbers with 27 HRs and 89 RBIs while batting 5th behind All-Stars Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. The majority feeling was that at the time, Buffalo's defense was underrated; they had been the catalysts of a 5-1 run for the Bills and were surrendering just 18.4 points per game. It didn't matter who the Bills were beating, so long as the scores were low and ticks were going in the win column. Turns out that this Bills defense is, at a very minimum, overrated in their underrated-ness. Just two weeks later, the Bills have surrendered 92 points in two weeks (bumping their season average to 23.5 per game), and some of the problems that cropped up early have resurfaced. This defense played well against some league bottom-feeders, but the going has gotten much tougher as the competition has. This week is huge. Whenever Dallas comes to town, the intensity rises, that intensity has even risen since the 2006 addition of Terrell Owens. But now from a strictly Eagles perspective, the pressure is on. The 6-1 Cowboys are coming to town on Sunday Night Football, off of a BYE and with Quarterback Tony Romo ready to confirm that he is worth the 6 year $67.5 million contract that he was signed to this week. Romo has far exceeded my expectations in what he has been able to accomplish so far this year, but I know what our defense is capable of and I'm not afraid to declare this team as far overrated.Are the Dallas Cowboys a good team?
