As you can see, I am still in the USA … … but Italy is not far from my mind! A lot’s going on in my family, so it’s been wonderful to be here, but I am homesick for Italy, the blogosphere, and most of all, Angelo. I look forward to catching up with everyone in June. ...
Panoramic Stitches from Around the Pacific Northwest
2008-03-26 06:44:00
This last weekend, my friend and I headed into Central Washington State for a "Spring Break" roadtrip adventure. Our first stop was Seattle, and then we headed over the Snoqualmie Pass into Central Washington where we stopped by Grand Coulee Dam before heading down to the Tri-Cities area before heading home. I took with me my Dell XPS M1530 (PRODUCT) RED Laptop with me running of course Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED. I also took my Canon HV20 HD Camcorder, and a Canon Digital Rebel XTi - both of which are Certified for Windows Vista. On the road, I focused mostly on photography. Many of the places we visited didn't really work well for video and I didn't feel me standing in front of the camera playing "tour guide" would be of any real value. I relied heavily of course on Windows Vista and Windows Live Photo Gallery to import and manage my photos. Because the Canon Digital Rebel XTi is Certified for Windows Vista - it was hassle free to import sometimes up to 400 pictu...

2007-12-02 15:59:00
According to my family’s emails, it’s snowing in the Pacific Northwest, which is why I’m posting a photo I took last year. Thought I’d better not crop out the flag, lest someone think it was snowing here in southern Italy at first glance. You can tell this is a western Washington snowman, because he’s already wilting. ...

Eucalyptus trials in Oregon Country: Stan & LeeSome early work with Australian trees in the Pacific Northwest Gustavo Iglesias Trabado GIT Forestry Consulting - Consultoría y Servicios de Ingeniería Agroforestal - www.git-forestry.comEUCALYPTOLO-GICSThe cultivation of Eucalyptus in the Pacific Northwest has had to do with trialling of species for relatively a long time now, sometimes as ornamentals and other times as part of forestry hardwood trials. It is however a relatively recent trend, especially if compared to the very old tradition for the cultivation of Eucalyptus in California. One of the steps in this process of increasing eucalypt growing had to do with the works of an Oregonian forester, keen tree grower and adventurous fan of the Australian trees.Lee O. Hunt (1912?-2002), who would later be President of the Douglas County Small Woodland Association, started methodic experimentation at nursery and field trials with 14 species of Eucalyptus back in 1971, focusing ...

In Seattle!- pacific standard time is ridiculously annoying. Everyone's sleeping and it's not even 8pm here.- it really must rain here a lot, because everybody from the airport to my friends here were raving about the blue skies today. You'd think they'd never seen sunlight.- positives: they have a 24 hour Starbucks, Ralph Lauren Rugby and most importantly, 7-11.- negatives: really, it's like they've never seen the sun before.- tomorrow: adventures in the badass rental car. Might have to revisit Pike's and Niketown for old times sake.Stay tuned from the left coast. Will be back in A-town in time for the Cubbies game.
