Al Awda Convention Urges Palestinian Return
2008-05-25 09:01:00
The Sixth International Al-Awda conference was held in California as Palestians spoke of their intention of returning to Palestine. ‘Palestine is and will be Arab until the Day of Judgement. Occupations come and go but Palestine perevered and maintained the Arab-ness. Plstinian cities will remain forever Arab.”Speakers denounced Israel and said there was but one goal and that was a return to Palestine. Bishop Atallah Hanna compared his God, who is one of peace, in contrast to the justifications that Zionists use which are “stantic and have nothing to do with God.” The overwhelming majority of speakers insisted all Arab refugees had to be allowed back into Palestine and there could only be one state in which the majority–Arabs– would decide who is in charge. The non-ceasing rhetoric led Salman Abu Sitta to term Gaza the “new Auschwitz” while Abu Khalil, professor of political science at California State University, noted that “af...
The farmer who followed his dream | a palestinian folk-tale
2008-05-25 07:06:00
1.In the village of Sirees there lived a poor farmer. He lived in a small house with two lemon trees in a garden at the front. The farmer and his seven children worked all year round, but money was short. One morning, while they were having breakfast, his wife said, "You look worried. What is the matter?"The farmer replied, "I had a dream last night, and I can't explain it. I dreamt that I had to go to Jerusalem - I don't know why - and had to wait at a certain place by Damascus Gate.""Wait for what?" asked his wife."That's it," said the farmer. "I have no idea what I was waiting for."He went off to work and by the end of the day forgotten all about his dream. But that night and night after, he had the same dream again. After having same dream three times and consulting with his wife, he decided to follow the dream's instruction. After three days of walking (being poor he couldn't afford to hire a horse or mule), he reached Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. There he stood and waited. P...

Qurei Urges Israel to Acknowledge Palestinian 'Right of Return'
2008-05-23 09:56:00
by Nicola Nasser 'We Persist Now on Fighting a Fierce Battle of Peace' Agreeing to the Israeli neo-historian Ilan Pappé's interpretation of the term "Nakba," Palestinian chief negotiator Ahmad Qurei said that peace and peace negotiations with Israel "could not hang on forever," warned that "the horrible alternative option could not but be the total collapse of the dreams of coexistence and the resumption of the bloody struggle," urged Israel to reach a solution for the Palestinian refugee problem "based on the principle of acknowledging the Right of Return, and compensation for the sufferings of the Palestinian people," and to adopt a "culture of confession" and "apologize" for what happened, and "to uphold the responsibility for all that happened" in 1948 as "a necessary first step that would pave the way to achieve a just and lasting peace, which makes room for all on the land." Qurei'...

Bin Laden: Palestinian cause fuels terror war
2008-05-16 21:58:00
I seem to remember Yassir Arafat completely denouncing Bin Laden right after the 9/11 attacks because he was panicked that the United States was going to slaughter everyone in the Middle East, and the celebrations that the Palestinians had after the attacks. So, for Osama to claim he's trying to "defend Palestinians" is pure bullshit. He's trying to portray himself as a hero to them. What he completely misunderstands is, when the Palestinians celebrated the 9/11 attacks as shown below, they've completely destroyed any support I might have had for them to have their own state. Their election of Hamas as their government reinforced that ideal. So go fuck yourself Bin Laden. My only hope is that you are found and you get the receiving end of a rifle shot. Or maybe a slow torture. I really don't care one way or another.

Palestinian Media Lies
2008-05-10 23:48:00
by Akiva at Mystical PathsIt's just 2 weeks ago we wrote about the Palestinian Humanitarian Disaster of the moment. In that one, they killed the fuel delivery guys, then complained that they were about to be plunged into darkness (due to lack of fuel at the power plant). Oh my.Today, they shot 21 rockets and numerous mortars into Israel, including at the fuel depot, killing 1 innocent civilian. And now they complain that they didn't get enough fuel and shut down their power plant, plunging part of Gaza into darkness. Oh my.Funny thing that, it seems to me that if you keep killing the fuel delivery guys, at some point you just might find yourself short of fuel. When you see pictures of the poor Palestinians in candle light, keep in mind they blew up the delivery guy. You'll probably find the news media fails to mention that. So will the UN when they start screaming about the horrible humanitarian situation.Burma/Mynamar, now that's a true horrible humanitarian situation.Support ...

Carter: Hamas ready to accept Israeli-Palestinian peace
2008-05-07 10:46:00
The Islamic Hamas movement would be willing to accept a peace treaty with Israel negotiated by President Mahmoud Abbas, if the deal was approved by Palestinians in a referendum, former US president Jimmy Carter said Monday. 'They said they would accept a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders if approved by the Palestinians and that they would accept the right to live as a neighbour next door in peace, provided the agreements negotiated by Prime Minister (Ehud) Olmert and President (Mahmoud) Abbas will be submitted to the Palestinians for their overall approval,' he told an audience in Jerusalem. The comments, and similar remarks by exiled Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in a recent interview with a Palestinian daily, reflect a major change in the stance of Hamas, whose leaders have repeatedly said they will never recognise Israel, which they want replaced by an Islamic state in all of historic Palestine. Hamas has also said that Abbas, in his peace talks with Israel, does ...

Four Palestinian media men were killed since the third of last May
2008-05-06 10:24:00
ATLANTIC FREE PRESS - As we celebrate World Press Freedom Day on third of May, we fell sad for the retreat of Palestinian media since the celebration of this day last year, due to the serious violations that occurred, especially the killing of four media men (Suleiman Al-A'shi, Mohammed Abdu from Felesteen newspaper, Isam Al-Jojou from Felesteen Mubasher site news, by Palestinian armed groups, and Reuters cameraman Fadel Shana'a, by the Israeli occupation forces, they also tried to kill Aqsa TV cameraman Imad Ghanem deliberately, which led to the amputation of his legs.   The Israeli occupation forces continued attacks on journalists and media outlets in the occupied Palestinian territories, which have been continuing for several decades, to withhold their crimes and continuous violations of the Palestinian people rights, including the arrest of journalists such as Hassan Abdel Jawad, Waleed Khalid, Muhammad Halaiqa, Tarek Abu Zeid, closed media outlets such a...

Mixed Priorities: Why Palestinian Unity is Not an Option
2008-04-25 11:13:00
by Ramzy Baroud Just days after the Hamas-Fatah clash last June in Gaza, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas looked firm and composed as he shook hands with members of his new emergency government. He made sure his move appeared as legitimate as possible, issuing decrees that outlawed the armed militias of Hamas, and also suspended consequential clauses in the Palestinian Basic Law, which had thus far served as a constitution. The Basic Law stipulates that the Palestinian parliament must approve of any government for it to be constitutional. Abbas simply decreed that such a clause was no longer valid, effectively robbing Palestinians of one of their greatest collective achievements — democracy. This system, when truly representative, is indeed precious and meaningful. Considering the impossible circumstances under which Palestinian democracy in particular was spawned and nurtured — military occupation, international pressure, extreme poverty — it was also deeply histor...
