iPhone Palm OS Emulator Hands-on Video Demo
2008-02-25 02:06:00
StyleTap produces software for Windows Mobile devices that allows them to run Palm OS applications. Now they've apparently produced an experimental build of the CrossPlatform Palm emulator for the iPhone / iPod touch, as you can see above.StyleTap makes clear that this is "NOT a product, nor is its presence here a commitment of any kind, express or implied, that StyleTap Inc. will ever release an official version of StyleTap CrossPlatform for Apple iPhone or iPod touch." In other words -- don't ask for a copy, no it's not in beta, and you can't have it. Nonetheless, this proof of concept is quite intriguing.source: tuawRelated Posts:Wide Angle Lens for the iPhoneiToner Updated for Iphone 1.1.316 GB iPhone Now AvailableA Million iPhones Missing, Unaccounted ForMockups of Rumored iPhone QuickOrder System for StarbucksOfficial Apple iPhone 1.1.3 Latest Firmware Update Hands-On Video Review of New FeaturesiPhone Leaked Firmware 1.1.3 Preview VideoiPhone 1.1.3 Firmware Update to Supp...

Apple iPhone sales lead Windows Mobile, Symbian, Linux, Palm OS in North Am
2007-12-17 20:09:00
In just four months since its release Apple’s iPhone became the #2 most sold handheld platform in North America, according to stats collected by Canalys and (surprisingly) released by one of Apple’s rivals, Symbian. According to the stats, Apple is currently selling more mobiles than the whole Windows Mobile platform combined. Additionally it beats Symbian, Linux, ...

Motorola prepping Palm OS-based Q2 for Sprint?
2007-11-12 15:52:00
Palm began life as a software company (anyone remember bailing out their Newton’s testy handwriting recognition by installing Graffiti?), and who the heck knows — perhaps a software company again it will be. Motorola prepping Palm OS-based Q2 for Sprint?
2007-11-11 00:20:00
Filed under: Cellphones, Handhelds Palm began life as a software company (anyone remember bailing out their Newton's testy handwriting recognition by installing Graffiti?), and who the heck knows -- perhaps a software company again it will be. Okay, okay, it's way too early to be sounding the death knell on Palm's hardware operations, but let's be honest, wouldn't a Motorola Q9 running Palm OS instead of Windows Mobile make for an absolutely fabulous device (read: Treo / Centro killer) for the Palm OS faithful? We think so, and this Sprint promotional site makes mention of a "Q2" that, by all appearances, seems to be the aforementioned Palm-based Q9. We can't verify the legitimacy of this thing for a couple reasons: one, we've heard nary a peep about a Q2 on Sprint's or Motorola's roadmaps, and two, this same site makes no mention of the Q9c, a device that we do know is coming to Sprint in the next few weeks. Who knows, maybe this is all some well-executed ruse by a Sprint ...

Palm OS delayed by one year
2007-10-04 03:11:00
Palm CEO Ed Colligan today confirmed at a conference call that the new Palm OS won't be ready until late 2008. The launch of the new Linux-based operating system was originally set to take place at the end of this year, but it didn't happen mainly because of the Foleo, which was put to rest just 4 months after announcing being announced. Colligan also said that the ex-Foleo team will now be working on the new OS full time and that the company is planning to release new products including something similiar to Foleo (let it go...), which we really hope is just a bad rumor. Palm OS-based handset - Palm Centro only $100.
2007-09-28 12:15:00
There've been internetweb rumours about the Palm Centro smartphone for a while now, but yesterday it was officially unveiled in the US. It's a compact-looking handset with a full QWERTY keyboard, and is aimed at regular folk rather than business users. The big thing is the price: $99.99 in the US, where operator Sprint has bagged a three-month exclusive on the handset. Besides that keyboard, the phone runs the Palm OS, and has a touchscreen, Bluetooth and support for push email and instant messaging. The camera's only 1.3-megapixels though, which is disappointing for a consumer-focused smartphone. It also remains to be seen how that price will translate to Europe, given that Sprint is selling the device on a two-year contract. It's an interesting attempt to make a messaging smartphone that appeals beyond people in suits, but is hardly the whiz-bang device Palm fans were hoping for. Specs Display 320x320 pixel Transflective color touchscreen, supports 16-b...

Documents To Go 10 does Office 2007 on Palm OS
2007-04-10 00:00:00
Ah, Docments To Go -- a constant, trusty pillar for countless PDA users for what seems like an eternity. Ironically, one could argue that DataViz's suite loaded on a high-res Palm OS device actually makes a better platform for loading up Office docs on the go than a Windows Mobile device does (certainly Smartphones, that's for darned sure). On cue, DataViz has dropped Documents To Go 10 for Palm OS, which rocks support for Office 2007 documents -- an important feature to be sure, considering that Microsoft totally threw 2007's file formats in the mixer. Even though Palm OS (Garnet OS, if you will) is getting embarrassingly long in the tooth at this point, we guess it's a comforting feeling to know that the third-party powerhouses are hanging in there with hot new apps -- or, as the case may be, worthy upgrades to old ones.
SlingPlayer Beta version released for Palm OS
2007-03-28 23:46:00
According to SlingCommunity, the beta will be going live today, and will officially support the 3G-enabled Treo 700p, but "early reports" are suggesting that 680 owners may be able to enjoy limited success even without Sling's stamp of approval. Of course, the beta will remain free of charge until a public release is ready to rock, and then you'll have the option of cutting ties or ponying up
