8/27 Pancrase Shining Tour - Neo-Blood Finals
2008-06-05 08:04:00
Pancrase have announced the Neo-Blood finals. I am looking forward to seeing Steve Magdaleno in this, but so far he is listed without an opponent. Hopefully they are able to change that, his last fight was very impressive despite injuring his knee early on in the fight. The Neo-Blood finals are always entertaining and last years event sticks out in my mind as one of the best I have been to. Hopefully this year will prove to be just as good. If you are in Japan, this is one you should not miss (even though it is on a Wednesday).Bantamweight: Takuya Eizumi 1-0-0 vs. 2-0-0 Isao HiroseFeatherweight: Yasutomo Tanaka 5-1-3 vs. 1-0-0 Hirotoshi SaitoLightweight: Steve Magdaleno 4-0-1 vs. X

6/1 Pancrase Shining Tour 5 - Fight Order Announced
2008-05-26 16:42:00
Pancrase has announced the fight order for their event next Sunday. There are some big Pancrase stars on this card and it should be a good event. Added to the card is exciting Brazilian Rafael Dos Anjos, who will make his Japan debut against Takaichi Hirayama. Also fighting is Yukio Sakaguchi, who is always fun to watch, even if his record is not the best.Main-EventKeiichiro Yamamiya 33-22-9 vs. 16-20-1 Hiromitsu KaneharaIzuru Takeuchi 24-9-6 vs. 9-0-0 JuniorTakafumi Ito 33-26-10 vs. 5-3-2 Shinsuke ShojiTakaichi Hirayama 7-9-6 vs. 9-2-0 Rafael dos AnjosSeiya Kawahara 4-0-0 vs. 5-5-1 Masaki YanagisawaYukio Sakaguchi 1-3-0 vs. 4-10-2 Masakazu KuramochiTomoki Murayama 1-4-0 vs. 8-1-5 Ranki KawanaYuichiro Shirai "Yukito" 3-5-3 vs. 1-3-2 Toshihiro ShimizuPancraseGate:Yuki Yashima 2-4-1 vs. Wataru Yoshikawa

6/1 Pancrase Shining Tour - Korakuen Hall
2008-05-23 07:42:00
Pancrase is holding 2 events in 1 week. The Osaka event is happening this Sunday then next Sunday we will have the Shining Tour in Korakuen Hall. I am not sure who "Junior" is, but the Pancrase site lists him with a 9-0 record, he is a Chute Boxe fighter and his fight with Izuru Takeuchi should be a good one. A good mix of experienced and talented fighters in this event.Kanehara has not won a fight since 2001, lets see if he can get a win against KeiYamamiya.I am not sure of the fight order.Izuru Takeuchi 24-9-6 vs. 9-0-0 JuniorYukio Sakaguchi 1-3-0 vs. 4-10-2 Masakazu KuramochiYuichiro Shirai "Yukito" 3-5-3 vs. 1-3-2 Toshihiro ShimizuKeiichiro Yamamiya 33-22-9 vs. 16-20-1 Hiromitsu KaneharaSeiya Kawahara 4-0-0 vs. 5-5-1 Masaki YanagisawaTakafumi Ito 33-26-10 vs. 5-3-2 Shinsuke ShojiTomoki Murayama 1-4-0 vs. 8-1-5 Ranki KawanaPancraseGate:Yuki Yashima 2-4-1 vs. Wataru Yoshikawa

The Shining Tour is visiting Osaka this weekend. No big names on this card, but the fight between "Strasser Kichi" and Yushi Shiori looks very interesting. There are also some amateur fights, and I dont expect many decisions on this card.Main Event:Daisuke Hanasawa13 8-9-5 vs. 2-4-2 Takefumi HanaiKenji Takeshige 4-6-1 vs. 3-3-1 Soyu TanabeMasahiro Toryu 4-3-3 vs. 0-1-1 Shuji MorikawaTakashi Hasegawa 3-5-3 vs. 3-2-0 Kenji ShimadaKiichi Kunimoto "Strasser" 4-2-0 vs. 5-0-0 Yushi ShioriNobuhiro "Punch" Yamauchi 4-2-0 vs. 1-0-0 Isao HiroseAmateur fights:Koji Toyota vs. Keiichi FunakoRyunosuke Yamamoto vs. Takamasa MikiYuki Uejima vs. Akinobu FurumiShinichiro Ryuno vs. Kosuke OkuToshiaki Kobayashi vs. Wataru Nakahara
King Of Pancrase To DREAM! SHOJI Debuts
2008-05-08 11:22:00
SHOJI vs. Takeshi Yamazaki has been announced as a Featherweight fight (67 kg) at DREAM.3. SHOJI is the first Lightweight King Of Pancrase and was recently featured in an article on the blog as a up-and-coming MMA fighter. 67 kg is not yet the official weight for the DREAM Featherweight division, but this fight will be ...
DREAM.3 Updated! Nick Diaz Vs. Former King Of Pancrase
2008-05-02 09:19:00
The DREAM.3 card on May 11th has been updated with 5 fights. Many new faces will enter DREAM for this event. Maybe the biggest fight out of these newly announced is Nick Diaz vs. Former 2-time Welterweight King Of Pancrase, Katsuya Inoue (he vacated the title to drop to Lightweight). Also on the card, Melvin ...

Some pictures from the Pancrase event on Sunday. I really think Pancrase have put on some good events this year and this was no exception.IMG_1029Originally uploaded by japanmma The opening fight was a very exciting grappling fight. Both fighter's name was Shimizu, and unfortunately I was unable to work out who won. It was a back and forth sort of fight with both fighters having very good arm-bar attempts. This was the decider though.IMG_1043Originally uploaded by japanmma The second fight was a Neo-Blood Tournament fight. SK Absolute's Tanaka was too strong for Tezuka and won a victory by rear-naked choke.IMG_1115Originally uploaded by japanmma The fight between Saito and Shimizu was a close decision. Pancase put on another good card tonight, there were some interesting fights with some good new fighters. The Neo-Blood tournament offered some great match-ups and I have to say that one fighter that impressed with his determination was Steven Magdaleno, it will be interesting to see how he goes in the rest of this tournament. In the main event Yamamiya Kei won a victory that I thought was a wrong decision and it was not a fun fight to watch. Yamamiya spent the fight backing away from Yuki Kondo and I thought Kondo should have gotten the decsion.Big mistake of the night goes to Daisuke Watanabe who had the fight wrapped up when he deicided not to listen to his corner and stand up. Ohori was much better on the ground and managed to submit him in the last minute of the fight. Always listen to your corner!Keiichiro Yamamiya Def. 4/27 Pancrase - Shining Tour 3
2008-04-11 15:52:00
Pancrase is continuing their good year. I think the 2 first events this year have been really good, and this event looks good as well. This time, they dont have any unbeaten fighters on the main card, but lots fighters/fights to get excited about. The main event is awesome, for the lightheavy weight belt. Shoji is the Lightweight champ, Rafiq and Wada will battle for the King of Pancrase welterweight title. Then some lesser known fighters, Matti Makela is coming to Japan to face "the Pink Typhoon"... In my opinon, Matti should take this. Also look out for Curbanov Djamal on this card. A few of the SK Absolute Russia guys have taken Pancrase by storm lately. Djamal is the latest to attempt this. He has a wealth of experience in Sambo and Combat Sambo, so look for this guy to get a quick win. They have also added loads of Neo-Blood fights, I like this as its a good chance to see new fighters.Yuki Kondo 48-20-6 vs. 32-22-9 Keiichiro YamamiyaShoji 6-2-0 vs. 16-7-4 Koji OishiBryan Rafiq 5-2...

Just came home from an event I had very high expectations for. It didn't turn out as well as I thought... The fights were not as good as the names on the card, but that happens some times. In the mix though, were some fights that did live up to my expectations.Alavutdin has cemented his reputation as a KO machine! This guy is ploughing through the Pancrase ranks. Again winning by KO in less than 90 seconds. Also Sandros were impressive in his win, extending his winning record to 11-0. He also earned his shot at the Pancrase title with that win. Kenji Arai vs. Shinsuke Shoji was also a very entertaining fight, this time Shoji came out a clear winner.I was really looking forward to seeing Takeuchi fight, but the most exciting thing about his fight was the entry. I will post pictures tomorrow.Marlon Sandro Def. Miki Shida by KO, Round 2 4:19 Izuru Takeuchi Def. Hiromitsu Kanehara by decision 3-0Gadzhiev Alavutdin Def. 2008-03-24 13:34:00
Pancrase have really been putting up some great cards so far this year. Shining Tour 3 looks very promising as well. Lightheavyweight champ Yuki Kondo is putting his title on the line against the number 1 challenger, KEI Yamamiya. Also the newly crowned Lightweight champ, Shoji is fighting on this card. There will probably be a couple of additions to this card as well. For me, I am looking forward to seeing fellow Scandinavian, Matti Makela. He is facing the experienced Hisamatsu.Yuki Kondo 48-20-6 vs. 32-22-9 Keiichiro YamamiyaShoji 6-2-0 vs. 16-7-4 Koji OishiBryan Rafiq 5-2-0 vs. 16-8-8 Takuya WadaYuji Hisamatsu 10-14-4 vs. 9-5-0 Matti MakelaManabu Inoue 6-3-1 vs. 8-9-2 Masaya “J Taro” TakitaDaisuke Watanabe 17-27-4 vs. 2-2-0 Ryuji OhoriYukio Sakaguchi 1-2-0 vs. 5-10-3 Wataru Takahashi
Busy Week Ahead - Pancrase, Shooto, DEEP

Its been a couple of slow days since the DREAM event. We are still waiting for official word on who will advance (JZ or Aoki) and the last fighter to go into the 2nd round of the DREAM lightweight tournament will be.Still, the week ahead has some very good events. I will try to get to 2 of these, but will have to see how much time I get.3/26 Pancrase Shining Tour 2 - Korakuen Hallhttp://mmamanjapan.blogspot-.com/2008/02/326-pancrase-shini-ng-tour-2.htmlPancrase is putting on a great card on Wednesday. 2008-02-24 04:43:00
Pancrase started the year with a very good event on Jan. 30. And the second event on the Shining Tour looks very good as well. The main event is the middleweight title fight between Miki Shida and the undefeated Marlon Sandro. So far this year, Pancrase has been putting up some very good card. Take note of Gadzhiev Alavutdin and Hacran Dias on this card, in addition to Pancrase stars like Izuru Takeuchim, Hikaru Sato and Kenji Arai. This will be an awesome event! It is really hard for me to get to events in the middle of the week, but again Pancrase is putting on a card that means I have to pull myself out of the office a bit early.Miki Shida 13-4-2 vs. 10-0-0 Marlon SandroIzuru Takeuchi 23-9-6 vs. 12-18-1 Hiromitsu KaneharaHikaru Sato 17-17-4 vs. 6-1-0 Gadzhiev AlavutdinTakafumi Ito 33-26-9 vs. 7-0-0 Hacran DiasKenji Arai 12-11-2 vs. 4-3-2 Shinsuke ShojiMichihisa Asano 5-4-2 vs. 3-4-3 Yuichiro Shirai ?Yukito?Ichiro Kanai 7-9-3 vs. 2-4-3 Takenori SatoAsaki Honda 4-1-1 vs. 3-6-0 Tomoyo...

1/30 Pancrase Shining Tour 1 - Update on Emi Tomimatsu
2008-02-16 11:28:00
As we all know, Emi Tomimatsu lost by TKO to WINDY Tomimatsu in Pancrase Shining Tour on January 30. To everyone there it was obvious that she took some kick to the abdomen and was unable to continue. What followed has not really been followed up on... Appearantly Emi Tomimatsu was urgently taken to the hospital where it was discovered that she had very serious injuries (peritonitis and damage to the intestinal tract. Doctors operated the same day, and she is recovering. However, it seems coming back to fighting will be difficult. I know nothing more than what it says in the Japanese Wikipedia, but I can only hope that she makes a full recovery.http://ja.wikipedia.or-g/wiki/%E5%AF%8C%E6%9D%BE%E6%81-%B5%E7%BE%8E

The Pancrase Ring-girls
2008-02-10 01:01:00
Ok, so I feel a little guilty after Fightlinker's review of the Pancrase Ring-girl (maybe both of them). Either way, I feel that my skills as a photographer might have influenced the reviewer. Here is a photo gallery taken by professionals: http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/f-ight/other/photo/2008020901/ind-ex.htmlThe Pancrase girls are my personal favorites (at least they were last year). As far as I know, Pancrase was the only organization to stick with the same girls. Why? -They do a very good job.

2008-01-30 16:31:00
Another good night of fighting, thanks to Pancrase. This time they had 2 titles on the line (manged to confuse me as one fight was said to be a semi-final). Either way... For me... My favorites didn't do that well... I got in a bit late, just got there in time to watch Windy Tomomi vs. Emi Tomimatsu. Why? Cause the first to fights on the main card took all of 2 minutes... One of the fighters I really wanted to watch, Seiya Kawahara improved to 4-0. His next fight, I will be there on time! I would appreciate if he gave me more than 28 seconds though. So, for the fights I did get to watch. Windy Tomomi was too good for Emi Tomimatsu. After the 2nd round of punishment Emi Tomimatsu could not continue. From what I could see, this was due to a kick to the stomach region while she was on the ground. She was carried out on a streacher, and I hope she recovers quickly. The fight between Daisuke Hanazawa13 and Wataru Takahashi was sloppy and a deserved draw.Killer Bee fighter Yuichi Ikari (m...

1/30 Pancrase Shining Tour 1 - Ryo Kawamura signing autographs
2008-01-23 13:01:00
The first stop on the Shining Tour will be next Wednesday. Pancrase has put together a very good card for this event, I really like Kitaoka and think he should have a good shot at the title in the main event. I got my ticket for this event, and it should be a really good one. Also making an appearance will be Ryo Kawamura, who will fight in the first Sengoku event. He will be signing autographs from 6-6.30.Katsuya Inoue 15-5-2 vs. 19-7-9 Satoru KitaokaArtur Umakhanov 7-1-0 vs. 5-2-0 ShojiGadzhiev Alavutdin 5-1-0 vs. 10-13-4 Yuji HisamatsuShinsuke Shoji 4-3-1 vs. 7-3-2 Yuichi IkariDaisuke Hanazawa13 7-9-4 vs. 5-10-2 Wataru TakahashiWINDY Tomomi 9-8-0 vs. 2-3-0 Emi TomimatsuSotaro Yamada 4-3-0 vs. 4-1-0 Strasser KichiYuki Yamasawa 1-4-0 vs. 3-0-0 Seiya KawaharaJust to mention it, Pancrase stick with the same ring girls they had in 2007, the sisters Rika and Yumi Irie
1/30 Pancrase Shining Tour 1
2008-01-15 13:45:00
Pancrase have finalized their card for 1.30. This looks like it will be an awesome event. As I have announced earlier, the planned lightweight tournament is cancelled, and I am a little confused about what will happen... The tournament is cancelled, yet the Oumakhanov vs. Shoji is said to be a semi-final. I can only assume that the winner here will face the #1 ranked Yuji Hoshino for the title in March.Either way, this will be very good event, headlined by Kitaoka vs. Inoue. Returning to the ring is WINDY Tomomi, after spending most of 2007 sidelined by an ankle injury. I will be good to see her back in action.Katsuya Inoue 15-5-2 vs. 19-7-9 Satoru KitaokaArtur Umakhanov 7-1-0 vs. 5-2-0 ShojiGadzhiev Alavutdin 5-1-0 vs. 10-13-4 Yuji HisamatsuShinsuke Shoji 4-3-1 vs. 7-3-2 Yuichi IkariDaisuke Hanazawa13 7-9-4 vs. 5-10-2 Wataru TakahashiWINDY Tomomi 9-8-0 vs. 2-3-0 Emi TomimatsuSotaro Yamada 4-3-0 vs. 4-1-0 Strasser KichiYuki Yamasawa 1-4-0 vs. 3-0-0 Seiya Kawahara

Pancrase have cancelled their Lightweight tournament. Instead there will be one fight the determine the Lightweight King of Pancrase. The final will be between Cage Force tournament champion Artur Oumakhanov and Pancrase veteran Shoji. They have also added one more fight, in addition to this championship fight. This event looks awesome now! We have the Lightweight and Welterweight King of Pancrase fights. For the lightweight King of Pancrase:Artur Umakhanov 7-1-0 vs. 5-2-0 ShojiAlso announced:Gadzhiev Alavutdin 5-1-0 vs. 10-13-4 Yuji HisamatsuPreviously announced:Katsuya Inoue 15-5-2 vs. 19-7-9 Satoru KitaokaShinsuke Shoji 4-3-1 vs. 7-3-2 Yuichi IkariDaisuke Hanazawa13 7-9-4 vs. 5-10-2 Wataru TakahashiYuki Yamasawa 1-4-0 vs. 3-0-0 Seiya Kawaharahttp://www.pancrase.co.-jp/tour/2008/0130/index.html

2008-01-03 15:53:00
Pancrase have announced some of the fights, including what I believe will be the main event, for their first event of 2008. There should be another few fights added to the event, which will be held in Korakuen Hall.Welterweight King of Pancrase fightKatsuya Inoue 15-5-2 vs. 19-7-9 Satoru KitaokaShinsuke Shoji 4-3-1 vs. 7-3-2 Yuichi IkariDaisuke Hanazawa13 7-9-4 vs. 5-10-2 Wataru Takahashi Yuki Yamasawa 1-4-0 vs. 3-0-0 Seiya KawaharaAlso participating:WINDY Tomomi 9-8-0, she had sit out the 2007 season due to a broke leg suffered against Rosi Sexton in February 2007. This will be her return to the ring, so lets wish her a better 2008 and good luck no matter who the opponent turns out to be.
12/22 Pancrase Rising Tour - Barnett returns
2007-12-13 15:23:00
December 22 Barnett will return to the ring against Hikaru Sato, the fight will be a catch wrestling fight, but for many fans that will not matter. Barnett is back! Also, keep your eyes on Hayato Shimizu, he will be trying to improve his record to 4-0 all of these fights in 2007. The main event is between Ryo Kawamura and the very experienced Keiichiro Yamamiya. Kawamura`s only loss came against Fabio Silva in May, and I have a feeling this will be a pretty easy fight for him.Ryo Kawamura 7-1-2 vs. 31-22-9 Keiichiro YamamiyaTakafumi Ito 32-25-9 vs. 4-2-0 ShojiHikaru Sato 17-17-4 vs. 20-5-0 Josh BarnettKenji Arai 11-11-2 vs. 3-2-2 Sa Jin KwokToryu Masahiro 4-2-2 vs. 4-1-0 Gadzhiev AlavutdinMiki Shida 12-4-2 vs. 14-2-0 Jameel? The Sergeant?MassouhYuichi Ikari 6-3-2 vs. 9-7-3 Takumi YanoTatsuya So 1-2-1 vs. 3-0-0 Shimizu HayatoAlso there, the Super Terrific Cuties, Rika and Yumi Irie. PANCRASE 2007 RISING TOUR 10.14 Differ Ariake
2007-10-10 17:01:00
Hikaru Sato, Asano Michisa and Kim Hyoung Kwang has been added to the card. Yuichiro Shirai is taken off the card.Especially pleasing to see Hikaru Sato back, the eccentric fighter was carried out on a stretcher in his loss in July. This weekend he is matched up with relative new comer Kentaro Abe.As I have also mentioned, this is the fight that I expect to see Kenji Arai snatch his first victory since losing to Jens Pulver by a vicious soccer kick. Kenji Arai is now on a 4 bout losing streak and desperately needs a win.But there is no doubt about the main even, for the title ?Heavy Weight King of Pancrase? Assuerio Silva will fight Kestutis "Tiger" Arbocius. This is a fight I am really looking forward to. In my book Silva is a clear favorite, but it has been a couple of months with bigger upsets than this.Assuerio Silva 13-6-0 VS. 7-4-0 Kestutis "Tiger" ArbociusYuki Kondo 46-20-6 VS. 8-8-0 Sakuragi YujiManabu Inoue 5-3-1 VS. 1-1-0 Jung Jin SukTakuya Wada 14-8-8 VS. 1-1-0 Kim Hyoung...
