2007-10-22 12:45:00
This disease can either be acute or chronic. Pancreatitis means the pancreas is inflamed. The pancreas can be inflamed if digestive enzymes build up inside and begin to attack it. Acute pancreatitis usually causes severe pain that comes on suddenly, starting in, or around the area of the navel and radiating to the back. The pain gets worst by movement and relieved by sitting, and maybe accompanied by both mild nausea and vomiting or sometimes severe. Other symptoms may include excessive abdominal gas pain and distention and the pain maybe described as burning or stabbing; fever, sweating, hypertension, muscle aches and abnormal fatty stools.Chronic pancreatitis is a condition in which the inflammation has caused irreversible changes in the microscopic gallbladder tissue. Repeated episodes of gallbladder infection and gallstones are often involved. The symptoms of chronic hepatitis are hard to distinguish from acute pancreatitis except that the pains seem to be chronic rather than com...
Acute Pancreatitis Associated with Exenatide
2007-10-18 13:18:00
FDA has reviewed 30 postmarketing reports of acute pancreatitis in patients taking exenatide, a drug used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes. An association between Exenatide and acute pancreatitis is suspected in some of these cases. Healthcare professionals should be alert to the signs and symptoms of acute pancreatitis and instruct patients taking Exenatide to seek prompt medical care if they experience unexplained, persistent, severe abdominal pain which may or may not be accompanied by vomiting. If pancreatitis is suspected, Exenatide should be discontinued. If pancreatitis is confirmed, Exenatide should not be restarted unless an alternative etiology is identified. Because of the main pancreatic duct obstruction, the pressure suddenly increased pancreatic duct, pancreas and lymph circulation of blood disorders caused pancreatic digestive enzymes to digest their own an acute inflammation. Acute hemorrhagic necrosis of about 2.4 to 12%, and its high mortality rate, up to 30 ~ 50%. The misdiagnosis rate of up to 60 ~ 90%. The classification of acute pancreatitis Etiology classification: 1 acute gallstone pancreatitis; ? alcohol acute pancreatitis; ? familial hyperlipidemia acute pancreatitis; ? parathyroid tumor secondary to acute pancreatitis; ? surgery after acute pancreatitis; ? secondary to pancreatic cancer acute pancreatitis; ? secondary to gills pancreatitis of acute pancreatitis; ? idiopathic pancreatitis and acute. (2) condition is deteriorating instead of improving. Long-term (15 days after onset) (1) of pancreatic abscess (2) of pancreatic pseudocyst unable to absorb (3) necrosis hemorrhage (4) identified the stomach or intestinal necrosis (5) Lou intestine, stomach Lou themselves without the possibility of closure (6) of pancreatic necrosis Yan reasons for gallstone disease, should radical gallstone operation. Pancreatitis treatment principle is what
2007-09-15 09:20:00
The treatment of pancreatitis, according to the severity of the conditions vary. Edema light on the simple principle of pancreatitis using medical treatment, and severe necrotizing pancreatitis and surgery to Collaborative Treatment. Medical treatment principle is: (1) fasting, gastrointestinal decompression, intravenous infusion: pancreatitis, pancreatic tissue edema, hyperemia, or necrosis, which has significantly decreased secretion, if consumption is stimulated secretion of gastrointestinal plenty of liquids, liquid gastrointestinal stimulate the pancreas to secretion of pancreatic juice, and this will certainly increase pancreatic heavy burden of increased disease. At this time fasting is good for the pancreas rest, reducing load, to resume as soon as possible. The required heat, water, such as by intravenous electrolyte supplement. (2) spasm pain, reduce the secretion of pancreatic juice: atropine, meperidine, aprotinin, 5 - fluorouracil, such as H2 receptor ant...

Pancreatitis Pain primarily manifested as pain, abdominal pain in a 95% rate of about 100%. The pain can cause shock, and can increase pancreatic secretion, timely and effective elimination of pain, treatment of pancreatitis can not be ignored important measures. Abdominal pain occurred mainly due to: 1 pancreatic inflammatory edema and necrosis of the pancreas coated product traction, stretching. ? inflammatory stimulation celiac plexus. ? secretion of pancreatic necrosis and inflammatory exudation of spillover to retroperitoneal cavity, a chemical peritonitis. ? cholangiopancreatography congestion, edema, convulsions, pancreatic duct obstruction, and expansion. From the viewpoint of abdominal pain, edema only of a general nature and pancreatitis pain; Bleeding necrotizing pancreatitis often severe pain, colic, or knife cuts like crushing pain, severe pain, in a short period of time can enter state of shock, thus more difficult to treatment. Acute pancreatitis Why use antibiotics
2007-09-15 09:18:00
Acute pancreatitis is the role of pancreatic secretion of trypsin in the pancreas itself, but from their own pancreas digestion process. It is a chemical inflammation, in no small Yin, but the treatment of acute pancreatitis, clinicians often use antibiotics, which is why? We know, the common bile duct and pancreatic duct openings in the duodenum, gallstones, cholangitis caused bile reflux, pancreatic drainage impeded, pancreatitis is the cause, because these anatomical physiological factors, acute pancreatitis, pancreatic easily with bacterial infections. In addition, since the condition pancreatitis often heavier, to fasting, the patient drop resistance, high incidence of lung infections and abdominal infection, and actively prevent infection, pancreatitis commonly used antibiotics. Pancreatitis, commonly used antibiotic ampicillin, gentamicin, cephalosporin, such as intravenous metronidazole bit.source:China TCM web-China
WHAT MORE TO KNOW ABOUT PANCREATITIS
2007-07-21 16:57:00
Pancreatitis can be either acute or chronic. It is the inflammation of the pancreas. I don't have to discuss in detail the anatomy as I don't have much time. In 80% of cases, acute pancreatitis is due to excessive alcohol useor gallstones. This condition can also come about as a result of infection (such as helpatitis A or D or epstein-Barr virus) or the use of certian drugs. Chronic pancreatitis is a condtion in which the inflammation has caused irreversiblechanges in the microscopic structure of the gallbladder tissue. Because the pancreas is the gland that produces the hormone insulin and glucagon which regulates bloodsugar levels, pancreatitis-especially if chronic-often leads to glucose intolerance (diabetes) and digestive difficulties. If you develop symptom of pancreatitis which is usually severe pain that comes on suddenly, starting in or around the area of the navel and radiating to the back and is exacerbated by movement and relieved by sitting and may be accompanied by...

Severe necrotizing pancreatitis following combined hepatitis a and b vaccin

Related Articles Severe necrotizing pancreatitis following combined hepatitis A and B vaccination. CMAJ. 2007 Jan 30;176(3):339-42 Authors: Shlomovitz E, Davies W, Cairns E, Brintnell WC, Goldszmidt M, Dresser GK Necrotizing pancreatitis is a severe form of pancreatitis and is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. We report a case of necrotizing pancreatitis that developed following combined hepatitis A and B vaccination. No other causes of pancreatitis could be determined. Although confirming the diagnosis is challenging, 3 main factors suggest a possible link to the vaccine: the chronology of the events, the patient’s human leukocyte antigen genotype and the incongruent immune response to the vaccine components. This report serves to alert physicians to the possible development of necrotizing pancreatitis after vaccination. PMID: 17261831 [PubMed - in process] (Source: cmaj) More: continued here
