So I know I said I was sick of "Trade Talk", but I didnt say anything about good-spirited fan-base to fan-base trade talk. Over the past couple weeks I've discussed the Bucs potential to Trade for the Carolina Panthers DE Julius Peppers who is rumored to be on the trading block... I polled fellow Bucs Fans on whether they would be interested in trading for Peppers and an overwhelming majority said YES!, trade for Julius... and so I made a trade offer to Jaxon over at Cat Scratch Reader, our Carolina Panthers Blog. The offer was as follows: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2008 1st round draft pick (#20) and the Buc's 2009 3rd round draft pick. The Florida Panthers have made a valiant effort here, coming down the final stretch. Winning seven games straight then losing to a Panther killer team, the Carolina Hurricanes in the shootout. The Panthers have always had a problem with Carolina, always. One must wonder why the Panthers really just have such a hard time winning against such a depleted team. The fact is, even when they are depleted, they still seem tough as ever. That’s with losing Cory Stillman and Mike Commodore to trade, Rod Brind’amour to injury and Justin Williams, others as well. Yet they keep moving along like nothing has ever happened. Quite amazing to me. A team so injury plagued, they still put up a fight each night and victorious on most. Word on the street is... The Carolina Panthers are shopping DE Julius Peppers!!! You all know how much I would LOVE to have JP in a Bucs Jersey. As evidence by the shameless "Julius Peppers Countdown to Free Agency" in this sites sidebar. The guy had a down year finishing the season with 38 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 interception. At 5.5 Million for '07 I'm sure Panthers fans were looking for more out of The MAN. At any rate, his track record and overall demeanor suggests he'll have a bounce back season. Should the Panthers not extend his contract this off-season, there is no way he won't test Free Agency. If you're the Panthers, why let Peppers walk for nothing? I know interdivision trades are almost blasphemy, but considering there arent many teams lining up to take on Julius' pending contract extension, the Bucs with enormous Cap Space are in a position to take the plunge. Back-to-back road wins have never felt this good.  With just one more game to play in a five-game road trip, the Avs are now 2-2.   The offense is once again showing some life, with Andrew Brunette finally taking control in the absence of Joe Sakic as a leader of the team.  He scored two goals.  Marek Svatos added another highlight to his phenomenal road trip performance by scoring in the second period on the power play.  No kidding.  Svatos now has 20 goals on the season and seven in his last six games.
