2008-01-17 20:06:00 Since Nassau, Bahamas is sandwiched in between two of our great beaches in the best beaches list, I'm posting photos taken by my younger sister Ria in Paradise Island and Lighthouse Beach in Nassau the other week. She's my first guest poster in the blog.The beaches were beautiful -- blue green water, fine white sand, huge waves in some areas. I was also surprised how the Bahamas looked like a beach area in the Philippines. There were coconut trees lining the beaches and roadside, handicraft and bead shops everywhere, and locals offering hair braiding.My hotel was right across what is called, Lighthouse Beach (so named because there's a view of the lighthouse in neighboring Paradise Island). Iran to Create ?Paradise Island? for Women Only
2007-02-23 02:21:01 According to a recent report in the Tehran newspaper, Iran is hoping to create an island that is strictly for female tourists only. The name of the island is Arezou and is one of 102 islands within the Oroumiyeh Lake. A municipal official said that their plans are to make this island “equipped especially for women.” The Oroumiyeh Lake is located near the Iran - Turkey border and Iran, according to the official, is hoping this will “boost tourism in the area.” However, not only are the tourists only women, but all of the workers on the island will also only be females. “There will be no men on the island.” the official said. This initiative has been cleared by the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s representative because an island with only women is not against Islamic codes. According to the code women are prohibited from exposing themselves to men, which clearly does not apply to an all female island.
