Nimrod Rising - Unsought Gifts Part Two
2008-12-31 15:36:00 There are many today who see the unusual events that are even now causing the world to take notice of the diabolical happenings that raise the blood levels of millions of people around the world. America has been attacked. We are engaged in a seemingly endless struggle against dark forces that never tire of inflicting their torment upon the globe. People are now in fear and have started to hoard food, forcing stores to limit purchases. Today, the evil of the Culture of Death is pushing abortion on demand, gay marriage and euthanasia; things that would have been inconceivable in a forgone day. Recently, I spoke with one of my readers about how similar various sections of Nimrod Rising are to what actually happened on September 11, 2001. I agreed with her and then went on to tell her that even though the similarity is very great, the sections of Nimrod Rising about which she was speaking were actually written in 1996. Of course, she did not believe me, and I understand why it i...
Nimrod Rising - Unsought Gifts Part One
2008-12-31 06:42:00 1995The weather was scorching in Islamabad. As the parade of terrorists unfolded down the street, Alex Maefield worked alongside his teammates very carefully distributing their literature to any who cared to take it. Everyone seemed to be in a trance. All the faithful seemed to take no notice of the piece of Elyon’s Word that they had taken and thrown to the ground. They all seemed more enthralled by the huge photos of their hero and rising murderous star, Osama Ben Laden training his teams ofterrorists across the border in Afghanistan, and historic national father, Mohammed Ali Jenna, the founder of the nation of Pakistan. These photos were carried down the street by the black-hooded parade of Jihadists who represented the militant form of Islam that was festering and growing throughout the country and the whole Muslim world. Alex had the strongest urge to jump in front of the line with them and lead them into every corner of the globe! He knew that out of the remnants present in...
Nimrod Rising - Sincere and Dedicated Part Two
2008-12-30 00:29:00 Nimrod Rising is a work of fiction based on truth and represents twelve years of work. No one knows what the terms, 666 or Antichrist really mean. We can only put together what seems historically and biblically logical. Nimrod Rising is not a Christian novel, but does declare its premise to be based on what I believe to be truth in the Bible and extra-biblical materials. Nimrod Rising is scary, not so much for its content as because it is such a timely and realistic story. I do not write material for the purpose of making people afraid. I like to think that I tell the truth and the truth scars them. Also, Nimrod Rising is a real look at the religion of Islam. I have spent my whole adult life working with Muslims. That gives me a real knowledge of the faith of over one billion people. The advice I would give to someone who is interested in Nimrod Rising is to be open-minded as they read Nimrod Rising. They need to try to get beyond the physical world we see every day and try to acc...
Nimrod Rising - Sincere and Dedicated Part One
2008-12-28 09:43:00 Continue your glance into the world of Nimrod Rising as Alex Maefield takes further fatalistic steps into the darkness that has invaded his very being. Many of us find the spirit world hard to fathom and difficult to believe. During my research for Nimrod Rising, I came to the shock and realization of just how real the spiritual world truly is. I realized that Watchers are simply created beings, like unto ourselves, prone to do the wrong and tempted to rebel, also like the tragedy of the Human Race. Yet, the Watchers who turned against Elyon (God) are bitter and angry and determined to get the kingdom they ruled on the Earth before they were cast out and mankind was created. Witness the power and the confusion in this young man, Alex as he both feels the terror and allure of his new-found power that makes him special in the realm of the physical. In Part one of Nimrod Rising - Sincere and Dedicated, you can feel this young man's fear and speculation. He knows he needs to rej...
Nimrod Rising - Legion of Ants Part Two
2008-12-28 05:16:00 Recently, I heard former British Prime Minister Tony Blair respond to the question, why God is so important. I was so impressed with that courageous man's response. He said, "Because it reminds us that there is someone bigger than us." Yet, I pondered his words that had so stricken by their brevity and their profound simplicity. It left me to pose another question. How do those of us hold onto the power of a society which opposes everything we value as essential? What happens to a nation where so many common wrongs are now commonly accepted and practiced? We have failed to realize that man always arrives at the most amazing ways of placing his fellow man into bondage and terror. Our freedom is derived from God. The clash of ideas in the world around us is not of this world. The forces of darkness are stripping away the truths we had held as as fact and are now unknowable or irrational in the pagan dens of the ever-expanding Culture of Death. Do you feel it? Can you see...
Nimrod Rising - Legion of Ants Part One
2008-12-27 00:24:00 Have you ever wondered what was here before us? Is the world we see around us all there is? Do you look around and feel the squirming on the inside of your stomach that tells you that everything is not as it seems? Whether we admit it or not, if we sit and think profoundly and look at the dissolving world system around us, we come to an understanding that there are forces at work all around us that mean us woe and seek to rob us of hope, faith and peace. We all know about the life we can all see, touch and feel. What about a world that is as real as the air we breath; but one which is hidden from our sight and as real as the invisible battles going on around us at every moment for the world, the future and for the souls of men and women? Inside Nimrod Rising will give you visual look into a book that could be one of the most important books you will ever read! War, terror, political upheaval, are these simply random acts of intrigue and violence? Or, is there an invisible war betw...
Patriot Acts...Strategic Planning - Part Two
2008-12-26 07:20:00 At the crowning of every American Head of State there is undoubtedly great anticipation melanged with a fair measure trepidation. This person, just like all the others, had considered themselves, perhaps not worthy, yet somehow still deserving of the honor. Will this man or woman fulfill their word, for which both believers and the haphazard had already cast their approval? It is not always the man or woman who can say that they actually produced the moral and fearless resolve to remain strong in the face of adversity, which surely awaits each and every successive leader of both the strongest and somehow increasingly impotent nation that seems to have dangerously lost its edge on too many levels. In Part one of Patriot Acts - Strategic Planning you saw the inner-workings of an infant administration callously and mercilessly thrust into a crisis that, if enacted, would cause the memory of September 11, 2001 shrink into obscurity, except for the true guardians of freedom.I hope you...
Patriot Acts...Strategic Planning - Part One
2008-12-23 19:57:00 Patriot Acts...Strategic Planning - Part OneWhat Do You Think...? There are some stark days ahead for the United States its efforts to stop the Islamic Republic of Iran from developing nuclear weapons. There is an intrinsic need to deal with Iran which is in the process of building a nuclear reactor and enriching uranium that it says would be used for its energy needs. Now we see that this nation has been thrust upon the world stage and is now at the center of international debate regarding its nuclear ambitions. Therefore, it is only logical that we should take a look at whether this fanatical Shiite State should be allowed to possess such technology. Does a land that is sitting on a sea of oil really have energy needs that could not be met by its massive reserve of crude? Would it be wise to trust the nation that launched the present wave of terror through out the world in 1979 with a nuclear arsenal? Can we continue to work closely with any nation, such as Russia, that would he...
Patriot Acts by Steven Clark Bradley - The Last Full Ounce of Devotion Part
2008-12-23 05:53:00 Empathy, that's the word that goes beyond merely feeling sorry for someone's horrible or treacherous state of affairs. By far the most vital part of a story and it's characters is to get the readers to feel their sorrow and their joy. In "Last Ounce of Devotion Part One" you read about a young man and the decisions he faced as though he were being force fed with an over-sized mouthful of reality combined with responsibility.I recently visited the Museum of Psychiatry – An Industry of Death. This was a very sad and important look at the treatments of Mental illness over the past three centuries. Many strange and unbelievable treatments were used and abused by so-called doctors who recommended everything from bleeding the brain to drowning therapy. Yet, the area of the museum that gripped my attention the most firmly was the section on the Holocaust. It was there that I realized the Hitler, in his demonic rage against Jews, Gays, Gypsies and the infirm was the final result of an ...
The Last Full Ounce Of Devotion Part Three
2008-12-22 18:33:00 I hope you enjoyed the first two installments of Last Full Ounce of Devotion. Today America is in need of heroes. We do not need tough guys, we need Patriots who are willing to lay down life and limb to defend freedom.Yet, there are those who do not just lament the loss of the freedoms that were enshrined in the document that these self-proclaimed constitutional warriors now regarded as a mere relic of a free nation that had died several years earlier. Len Garret was about to hatch a plot that, if brought to its explosive finality, would bring crashing down, the evil government of American usurpers who had proclaimed freedom from one corner of their mouths while doing all in their power to weaken her at the same time out the other corner of their collective voice. The only way to stop young Len Garret will demand resolve and courage. Now, finish this exciting chapter and see what this young Len Garret is about to carry out as his dream of a lifetime. The only way to stop him wil...
Patriot Acts - The Last Full Ounce Of Devotion...Part One
2008-12-21 10:37:00 Today, America is at war with religious radicals who are hell-bent on destroying Western civilization. We have seen what radical religious fanatics can do to bring a peaceful nation to war. Read "Last Ounce of Devotion" from my next novel, Patriot Acts and see what would happen if our own brand of fanatics, right here at home, teamed up with the Islamic radicals with whom we are at war abroad? The concept is both challenging and lethal! What can turn a child into an extremist? How can a child who was born in the land of the free be transformed into a man who seeks to destroy the land of his birth? I think you will find this chapter stimulating and frightening by virtue of its plausibility and the probability of seeing this scenario played out within the borders of the United States of America. The actions taken to protect The United States of America are not radical reactions to terrorism. They are Patriot Acts!Patriot Acts - Last Ounce of Devotion by Steven Clark Bradley Pa...
Steps Toward Gomorrah...Part Two
2008-12-19 23:24:00 "Full of complex machinations and apocalyptic visions of a possible future, Nimrod Rising! is a thought provoking work of epic proportions. Steven Bradley has shown us a different, and quite frankly, a frightening way to look at world events. His characters show a depth and complexity that bring them to life in our world, and show an eerie similarity to many of today’s world leaders. Reading the newspaper will never be the same again"Ronald W. Adams, Author of Key Lime Squeeze Enspiren Press Steps Toward Gomorrah...Part Two By Steven Clark BradleyThe nation seemed worn out, wearing visages of the excessively burdened, overly paranoid and completely severed as a people and ravaged by rage. They seemed ready to sell their historic birthright for a mess of new-age porridge; ready to give away their liberty for the gods of peace, prosperity, promiscuity and security! This highly technologically advanced society seemed to have taken on a life of its own; transforming its citizens...
Steps toward Gomorrah...Part One by Steven Clark Bradley
2008-12-19 02:16:00 I hope you enjoy a taste of the world of Nimrod Rising. The Chapter below will give you a feel for a story like no other you have ever read. I hope it makes you want to read to the very end!Steven Clark BradleyThis is a poem I wrote for Nimrod Rising and is at the beginning of the book. The words in these phrases greatly demonstrate the premise of Nimrod Rising. I hope it will speak to you.At The End Of Our Days? Are we at the end of our days? The army of God stands poorly arrayed. Is the final hand about to be played? While the Word of God is so poorly displayed? Are we at the end of our days?In the evil land please stay your hand.Give us the grace once more to stand. As long as ten righteous remain in the land. Are we ready for the end of our days?Your hand shall wave from sky to sky.You come to claim the apple of your all-seeing eyeYou shout "Return to me or your nation will die!"Your word declares your hatred for the lie.Your presence shall be uplifted when the truth will no longer fly...
Did Text Messaging Kill the E-mail Star (Part 3)
2008-07-22 13:00:00 If you tuned-in to Part I and Part II of this four-part series, you now have a good basis for continuing our discussion about text messaging's assault on e-mail as the communication medium of choice for teens and young adults. In this installment, I will discuss how text messaging affects th
DeMint Is Part Of DeProblem (And McBush Too)
2008-07-17 17:39:00 This McClatchy story about Repug South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint (pictured) offering to hold hearings on Afghanistan with all-but-named Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is really a hoot, because, after he did so??DeMint then joined forces with top aides to Sen. John McCain in criticizing Obama's war plans.DeMint's high-profile appearance with McCain's senior foreign policy aides came as McCain and Obama delivered speeches laying out sharply differing views on Iraq, Afghanistan and the broader U.S. effort to defeat fundamentalist Muslim forces. What a partisan hack. This SourceWatch article on DeMint tells us that he blocked the Legislative Transparency and Accountability Act of 2007 shortly before it was due to come to a vote so he could engage in some grandstanding over supposed earmark reform (with the blessings of Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao, no doubt). Also, he blocked a Democratic attempt to implement one of the 9/11 Commission recommendations that would have ?require(d)...
How to be happy - Part 1
2008-07-16 15:33:00 Mama always said, “If’n you ain’t got anyting good to say don’t say nuttin at all!” So lately I haven’t said much. During my silence I did some soul searching to find out why I seemed to be in a slump. The process I went through to discover the reasons for my slight depression might be able to help other people who are going through a crisis in their lives. If you are lacking motivation, feeling a little down, or don’t feel happiness as you once did then I have a fix for the rut you find yourself in. Getting real with how you feel What are your feelings about your life? I asked myself this very same question and for me the best way to get anything done is to make a list. So I made a list and decided that I would write down the emotions and feeling that I experienced when I thought about the present course of my life. Think about how your life would be if you were to repeat the last few months or years for the rest of your life. For me I felt...
Data Don?t Matter? Academic Research and School Choice?Excerpt Part Deux
2008-07-12 12:38:00 An initial assessment of any study?s potential contribution to policy should begin with three questions: What is being studied? Why is it expected to work? How is program performance assessed (286)? Why do some expect that providing an exit option will improve education generally? ? Does choice somehow affect teaching, learning, ...

Know what the best part of having kids is?
2008-07-08 05:00:00 Eating out. Before kids we would go out to dinner. Have some quiet conversation. Enjoy every morsel of our food. And leave the restaurant hand-in-hand with big, loving smiles on our faces. Now, with kids, we eat as quickly as we can having no clue what the food tastes like. We rarely talk to each other. Instead we spend much of the meal saying things like “get out from under the table” and “keep your hands to yourself” and “no you cannot have dessert because you haven’t eaten a single bite of your chicken fingers.” And we leave the restaurant in a jog hoping we can get out before anybody notices the mess we left behind. And tonight was no exception. But tonight we got some added fun. I don’t know what the boys were talking about, but all of a sudden. Out of the blue. Caleb yells out, while laughing hysterically, “you just said ‘up your butt and around the corner.’” And just in case the old couple across the rest...

Rage (Part Twelve): Heart
2008-07-03 19:26:00 She did not want to think it because it was her escape but in not thinking about it she thought about it and of course he picked it up.?Your? heart?? He cocked his head at her. ?Your heart is ? dying, isn?t it? That?s what you think?? He paused, moved his head slowly side to side. His eyes, one at a time peered at her. His ear, especially his left ear, appeared to move, to wiggle a little, to clench up. ?Yes. Yes. I hear it. I hear it.? In her ears, rushing and thumping more and more and she felt a sharp stabbing pain in her left arm, felt tears well in her eye, felt grateful and said in her mind Thank you dear Lord but almost as soon as she thought it she felt a cold, rocky grasp on her forehead, her head pushed back and it hurt and it clenched her and at the same time she felt a contraction in her chest, her entire heart pulled into itself and stopped beating? And a thump! resounded in her mind just before she moved on, just before her mind left her body, the thump emanating out fr...
How To Get What You Want From The Chinese Government, Part II. Make It Win
2008-07-03 10:23:00 In The Subtle Art of Lobbying the Chinese Government , Alistair Nicholas of Off The Record posted on our post on how to lobby the Chinese government. Nicholas noted something very important I left out in my post. Our post focused on who to lobby and the logistics of lobbying, but it left out what to say to get the government to go along. Off The Record filled in that missing element rather well: My key learning over 20 odd years of lobbying both successfully and, sometimes, unsuccessfully across three countries are that politicians the world over are all the same. If you want them to support your cause you need to figure out what’s in it for them and offer a deal they can’t refuse. I’m not talking about delivering brown paper bags stuffed with cash or other bribes. * * * * Before you approach a politician for help you need to (with apologies to John F. Kennedy) ask not what your government can do for you but rather what you can do for your government. This is the s...

Rage (Part Eleven:) Sleep.
2008-07-02 15:04:00 He kept repeating you let them take me and instead of getting louder, he got quieter and quieter, until he was swallowing the words, and when they had become a subvocal rumble, when she almost could not tell he was making a sound at all, he suddenly bit into her ear and it felt like he pulled it right off and she wanted to black out again and almost did but he took his hand and thumped her on the stomach as he bit her ear and the breath, what little breath she?d recovered, was driven from her again, and she did not pass out, she felt the blood flowing down her head from her ear and pooling near her neck and shoulder. He stood up and he was moving his mouth but she could not hear him, realized that she was shrieking in pain and her ear was gone, but he moved around, passing briefly from her sight and then he was on her right side again, still talking:?? plenty of time and you?re not going to be asleep for any of it. No. I wasn?t. I went years without sleeping. Years. You don?t believe...
Vacation Part Two: Please Don't Feed McGriddles To the Alligators
2008-07-02 11:58:00 My vacation story continues. To read part one, click here. There's something either very disturbing, or very bothersome, about how long a "McGriddle" can stay fresh sitting in a backpack without any special wrapping whatsoever. We got some "McGriddles" at O'Hare International Airport at one of the 150 McDonald's we passed going from the gate where we arrived to the gate where we would leave. When your flight begins in Madison, Wisconsin, you may develop an unrealistic expectation of airports. We made it to the airport in a reasonable amount of time, and unloaded the Babies! and luggage. I then parked in the long-term parking lot, which is cheaper because it's far enough away from the terminal that you can't actually see the terminal. It's so far away that there's wildlife there; as I walked past a tree, something moved and ran away. I hoped it was a cat, but I thought it might be a raccoon-- maybe even one of the ones we'd displaced.Security at the Madison NonInternational Air...

Rage Part Nine: Pain
2008-07-01 17:40:00 He laughed more.He finally stopped crushing her hand. She lay on the bed, eyes closed and trying to open them before he attacked her again, it didn?t matter, there were too many tears in her eyes to see him so she might as well keep them open. Her breath came in gasps, spurts of breath, too much air going out and not enough back in and she could not reverse that or slow it down, her head was spinning and tears flowed down out of her eyes, and she felt her heart thumping, and a stronger person would have marveled at her body?s ability to keep sending her all these different signals and sorting them out: the heart pounding, short of breath, shoulder dislocated, hand crushed, head still hurt. All interrupted when it ? he ? leaned forward and looked at her so closely she could see through the flood of tears in her eyes, she could see his face and thought it was distorted by the liquid but it was the face.?I don?t remember the first thing they did to me,? he told her. He whispered it. ?Ho...

Men are stubborn part 2
2008-06-27 04:40:00 Speaking of stubborn men, or at least my stubborn man. Not only can men not ask for directions, but they also refuse to accept help with their cell phones. What’s up with that? The other night Lee and I were laying in bed. I was reading (this fabulous book by Jen Lancaster which you should totally buy and read because it will make you snort milk out your nose it’s so funny) and Lee was playing with his new cell phone. It’s been more than two years since Lee upgraded to his Motorola Razr. A phone he had very bad luck with. He had that thing in the US Cellular shop so many times they started to recognize him. Eventually he convinced them to give him a new replacement phone. Not long after that Lee had yet another water accident with his phone. But this time it wasn’t a raft ride. This time it was the washing machine. I swear he’d lose his ass if it wasn’t attached to his legs. So we had to pay $50 for a replacement phone (because we have insurance o...

China's Service Sector Will Reign, Part XVII -- Pets, I Say.
2008-06-26 13:50:00 "Dealing with the animals was always fun, but I could no longer stand dealing with their owners." --- Explanation for retiring given to me by a retired veterinarian I know Back when we first started this blog nearly three years ago, I felt somewhat like a voice calling in the wilderness whenever we would tout how companies needed to look at China as more than just factories. Now, this idea has pretty much become common currency and so, though this is Number 17 in our series, this is the first we have done this year. The reason for bringing this series out of its quasi-retirement is that I just read a very interesting Bizcult post, entitled, "Zeroing In on the Pet Niche." The article is on "a state-of-the-art 5,000 square foot veterinary hospital with 15 staff members in Chaoyang District," Beijing. I am guessing most of this hospital's clientele (the human side anyway) are ex-pats, but the fact that such a hospital is succeeding speak volumes about what is happening in ...

Wire-More LAN (Part V)
2008-06-26 05:51:00 Another long train journey, another opportunity to run Netstumbler to find out what is going on in the world of WiFi. On this journey 425 WiFi (802.11b and 802.11g) access points were identified. No 802.11a (5 GHz) access points were spotted. Of these, 24% were not encrypted or protected in any way (however, some of these are public access points such as 'BT OpenZone' and so would not be expected to be encrypted). This means that the proportion of home WiFi nodes that are now protected has gone up significantly since the last time this was tested. The graph below shows, in orange, the number of times that each channel was found to be in use. As expected, channels 1, 6 and 11 were the most commonly used, with channel 1 winning out over channel 11 in terms of usage for a change. What the graph also shows is the combined interference effect of all the nodes across the whole WiFi frequency band. This has been done by adding the use of a channel with (5-n)/5 times the use of...

Is China Going Green, Part XV -- Environmental Liability Clarified: Be Afra
2008-06-22 20:03:00 Very important article in today's China Daily, entitled, "Government targets land pollution to ensure food security." Far more important than the reason for this targeting is the who and what of the targeting. China's Ministry of Environmental Protection has announced that the "company which inherits the debts and rights (of the polluter) should shoulder the responsibility for providing financial assistance to restore the productivity of polluted land." The article notes that the previous policy on this "was unclear." This jibes with what we have been telling our clients for years: when buying a Chinese company, your due diligence must include reviewing its potential environmental liability. We have been saying this both because the law on this has been unclear and because this is the case in the United States and (as far as I know, in many other countries as well) and this will likely eventually become the case in China as well. I tend to be paranoid about this because a...

Understanding the Land Promise: Part 5 (Answering Objections)
2008-06-20 14:00:00 –continuing from part 4. I thought that the fifth post would be the last, but Will Dudding brought up some objections in the comments of the last post. This has caused me to dig a little deeper, and in the end has only increased my confidence in this understanding of the land promise. So ...
Rage: Part One: Shapes.
2008-06-20 08:56:00 They moved with an aching, grating gait that sounded to normal ears like moldy gravel scraping down a culvert. They moved slowly. They moved oddly, suddenly lurching in one direction or another. They moved always in oblique curves, never directly forward or sideways. That they moved at all was the second most frightening thing about them, to Eva.The first most frightening thing was that they took her baby.It had been quiet that night. Quiet, and misty. But still. The mist did not fall, or blow. It hung in the air, a curtain of water through which Eva had to continually pass, the light reflecting at unusual angles off the billions of tiny water droplets that hung in her way, the shadows more liquid than usual, the edges of everything blurred a little and blending into each other. Brick into air, water into ground, light into dark: there were no sharp edges that night.Eva had been nine months pregnant. She was ready to give birth at any time and should not have been out. But she had neede...
Tsunku.com now part of Tsunku.org ^_^
2008-06-18 14:37:00 Really excited to add that the domain Tsunku.com is now part of Tsunku.org and can be used as a mirror to this blog. I have decided to keep the site permanent whether I am available or not; sooner or later it will be updated. All those people who are getting updates through RSS feeds will have to wait as I am still in the process of fixing it. The software is recently upgraded to latest Wordpress and I am still working on it. I have also noticed that the blog doesn’t appear properly in older IE versions, thats because of big tag fonts. I will see what I can do about it, meanwhile you can use Firefox 3.0 (woot!) to browse the blog. I wanted to write a long post but also still waiting on the next graduation decision, lets see what happens. This is really crazy because a lot of things I have mentioned before are coming true! The Best Sad Part In A Book.
2008-06-17 17:15:00 I was actually asked a question about this nomination, a question I got wrong on a quiz in 10th grade. That lesson taught me the limits of my ability to listen in class and then get the answers right on a test, a habit I had followed high school for books that I deemed too boring or dumb to read but which I was required to read anyway; I'd listen in class (sort of) and then fake it on tests and quizzes and hope for the best.Sometimes it worked great; in British Lit I got a 108, out of 100 (I got even the extra credit right), despite never actually reading any of the The Canterbury Tales, about which I have to say this: Why are students reading "The Canterbury Tales?" Can we possibly let some literature just go? The fact that something was written 1400 years ago or whatever does not in and of itself make that written thing good. Look at how many plays Shakespeare wrote -- 4,712 -- and how many we actually teach or make kids read or ever produce: 3. (I'm not counting those local the...
