2008-09-20 03:34:00 Heute hatte ich so überhaupt keine Ahnung, was ich den jungen Herren zu Mittag servieren sollte, bis mir bei den üblichen hausfraulichen Tätigkeiten an einem arbeitsfreien Tag die Ausgabe Toskana der Kreativküche in die Hände fiel. Ich hatte zwar keine Rigatoni sondern nur Tortiglioni im Nudelvorrat, aber für die Norddeutsche an sich erschließt sich er Unterschied nicht wirklich. Den Pecorino habe ich durch noch vorhandenen Etorki ersetzt. Die jungen Herren waren von den Tortiglioni cacio e pepe - Tortiglioni mit Käse und Pfeffer sehr angetan. Obwohl das Rezept für 4 Portionen bemessen sein soll, reichte wie schon hier gerade für uns drei. 2008-09-12 20:46:00 In ihrem Kochbuch verrät Nicky ihr Rezept der Notfall-Pasta, wenn sie wenig Zeit zum Kochen aber Appetit auf Pasta hat. Das gab es aber nicht, weil keine Limetten im Haus waren. Dafür fand sich ein Päckchen Kräuter-Frischkäse von 125 g im Kühlschrank, 1 Zwiebel war auch noch da und Mohn. Daraus habe ich dann Pasta mit Mohnsauce zubereitet. Einfach nur lecker und für Mohnliebhaber bestens geeignet! Ein richtiges Rezept gibt es nicht: Die Zwiebel habe ich fein gewürfelt und in etwas Butter glasig geschwitzt, mit 125 ml Gemüsebrühe abgelöscht und Frischkäse sowie 3 EL gemahlenen Graumohn eingerührt. That means I have to cook a healthy lunch for the schoolboys. As always we have initial difficulties the first week and yesterday we had Red Pepper and Rosemary Lamb with Pasta I didn't read the recipe accurate enough and I had to do it on the fly. Glad, I have rosemary in my garden, its flavour fits perfectly to lamb mince. Rosemary means in the language of flowers remembrance and love. The trouble is that saffron (if you didn't already know this) is EXPENSIVE. 2008-06-08 00:00:00 I have to admit, I use this plastic containers for years, a shelf in the cellar is full of this stuff for freezing and refrigerating. The stuff is great, but I am afraid to buy more, because of my husband's behavior. T***ware and men don't agree. But I had to have the ravioli maker. As I promised, I didn't go to a party. I ordered it through my work-mate. I had some some pasta dough in the fridge from the lasagne. When I came home, I went straight into the kitchen, mixed together ricotta cheese parmesan cheese, egg yolks and basil pesto and rolled out the pasta. If I like the flavor of something I will eat it again and again and again. Just ask my family! Io rispondo: è la festa di primavera, non si capisce esattamente perché caschi in questo periodo visto che piove, ma quel che è sicuro è che non si lavora. Guarda caso dopo tanti giorni di ciel sereno, il Bank Holiday casca nei giorni peggiori della settimana. Sabato è l'unico giorno di sole secondo le previsioni meteo. Ne approfitto per fare un salto sul Tamigi e vedere che si combina di bello alla Tate Gallery e dintorni.Domenica e lunedì invece, pioggia continua e del tipo più antipatico: quella che non piove esattamente, ma pioviggina fitto fitto che sei comunque costretta a portare l'ombrello ma siccome c'è anche un gran vento è una battaglia persa in partenza. Actually, it's not that you don't know, it's more like, there are a million and one possibilities and you can't seem to settle on the right one at the right time. That's how I felt about the Sweet Potato Pappardelle that my friends Elly and Joelen were so kind to send me. Asparagus, White Wine and Crème Fraîche Linguini
2008-05-19 23:50:00 Ingredients2 shallots2 garlic clovesA glass (about 300ml) of white wine4 heaped tablespoons of crème fraîcheEnough linguini for two people12-16 asparagus spears (depending on thickness)SaltBlack pepper1. Simmer the linguini in boiling salted water2. While the linguini is cooking finely chop the shallots and crush the garlic and fry them in a knob of butter for a few minutes3. Add the white wine and allow to sizzle so that the alcohol burns off4. Stir in the crème fraîche and simmer until it thickens and reduces by about half5. Snap the woody ends off of the asparagus and slice each spear into bite sized pieces. Add the asparagus to the sauce, put on a lid and cook for just a couple of minutes until the asparagus is cooked6. Once the linguini is cooked drain it and stir it into the sauce. I also decided to post this, because it is the first thing I actually “cooked” in my kitchen when we came back from our Honeymoon, and therefore it is sentimental, as am I. We stopped at my mom’s house on the way back from the airport to say hi and pick up our kitty. She had a nice chicken dinner ready for us. I was so food-ed out from the trip and the chicken breast was so big, that when I was full, it looked like I had barely touched it! So she wrapped it up to go - just like a good mamma! The next day, I was faced with a kitchen that was mine but unfamiliar after almost 2 weeks without really cooking.
