Covers: Patrick Wolf version of "Running Up That Hill"
2008-02-21 00:45:00 Placebo's version of "Running Up That Hill" (Originally by Kate Bush) is one of my favorite covers of all time, and this afternoon I found a Patrick Wolf cover of the song that rivals Placebo's. He completely changed the track's arrangement and made the song unrecognizable, but the original's soul is still very present.

You could say that his self-absorbed lyrics and unconnected arrangements have been supplemented, and in some cases replaced, by a more listener friendly pop sound. I like it. 2007-01-04 21:36:02 Que ganas tenía de esto pero más ganas tengo de tener el original en mis manos. Patrick sigue inmenso. Y este es mi regalo de reyes...Quizas es el mas importante exponente del "artista-joven-y-solitario-que--con-inspiracion-y-maquinas-logr-a-lo-que-muchas-bandas-jamas-lo-graron-ni-lograran", una especie de geniecillo encerrado en su laboratorio, con deshojados posters de artistas de hace decadas y maquinas llenas de botones de colores. Con "Lycantrophy" dio catedra, y con su anterior disco "Wind on the wires" encajó joyas del calibre de "Teningmouth". Es por eso que quizas este "Magic position" haya sido uno de los discos mas esperados de este comienzo de 2007. Y creo, humildemente, que valió la pena tanta expectativa. Al menos en mi caso, se ve satisfecha. Wolf sabe de los dimes y diretes del pop: cuando encajar un estribillo, cuando ponerse triste, cuando escalar al cielo y cuando posarse sobre la tierra.
