Una vez más queda confirmado el hecho de que no es más importante llegar, sino mantenerse. Creo que matar a alguien es una cosa que hay que aborrecer todos los días, pero tampoco está de más que un día al año se grite ese mensaje más alto.En Amnistía Internacional han empezado una campaña de petición de firmas destinada al Gobernador de Florida, Charlie Crist, defensor a ultranza de este cruel castigo, ya que un español está condenado a muerte es este estado, dicen que sin pruebas concluyentes. La verdad es que a mi me da igual que sea español o esquimal, e incluso que sea culpable o inocente, sigue pareciéndome algo que debería estar erradicado totalmente, pero bueno, a lo mejor así a alguno se le remueve un poco más la conciencia. I woke up to a ton of small transactions this morning, so let's lead with them. In MLBTR-friendly transactions, the A's designated Lenny DiNardo and Kevin Melillo for assignment. The team made a bevy of other moves, though, recalling Travis Buck, Brad Ziegler, and Carlos Gonzalez, placing Joey Devine, Mike Sweeney, and Ryan Sweeney on the 15-day DL, and activating Kiko Calero and Eric Chavez from the DL. Brandon Medders, recently DFA by the Diamondbacks, has cleared waivers and has been assigned to AAA. Brayan Pena, recently DFA by the Braves, has been claimed by the Royals. Rangers RHP Franklyn German has refused an assignment to AAA, and will hit the free agent market. The Reds traded RHP Jim Brower to the Cubs for cash considerations. Today's edition of Trendspotting focuses on a couple of guys who are struggling massively so far this season. I'd like to look at the situations faced by Cleveland DH Travis Hafner and Tampa Bay 1B Carlos Pena.Travis Hafner: His situation is becoming one of baseball's great mysteries. He's been struggling now for over a year - despite his hot streaks, he finished last year with only 24 HR. Granted, he did reach triple-digit RBI, but his batting average was only .266, well off his career pace of .300 or so. Cleveland dropped him in the lineup and they hope that will jump-start their big hitter. He hasn't been helped by the struggles of the rest of the offense, but technically he should be a catalyst rather than the one relying on them. He'll still get the at-bats in Cleveland, but soon it's going to be time to question whether he's worth the daily start if he doesn't turn things around. What a waste of a good pena coloda. At least it turned into a funny story.It was the first warm day of the year. My friend and I decided to make some non-alcoholic pena colodas. I don't drink and I don't support it.My friend made the drinks and then he asked me to put the ice away. I took my drink and the ice to the garage and I set down my drink on the top of the freezer. When I opened up the freezer, pena coloda went everywhere.It's not a good idea to put things directly on top of the door part of the freezer. That part apparently moves. Anyway, I spilled my drink everywhere.Later that night, I went home, took off my jeans, and through them into the dirty clothes basket. The next morning I woke up to a, "What the ---- is this?"
