Reason to Believe is their first album not released on Epitaph Records. Instead the band opted to release the album on Myspace Records and offer it as a free download in addition to traditional CD and vinyl releases.Without a doubt the method of release is unconventional yet still has the punk community debating. Epitaph is one of the most respected punk record labels and Pennywise left it to release their album with Myspace and Textango. Pennywise Sign With... MySpace? Say What?!
2007-12-06 22:47:00 American punk rockers Pennywise have left their label of 15 years, Epitaph, for a new label created by the social networking website MySpace. The band?s ninth studio album, which is still untitled, will be available on March 25, 2008. The best part is that for two weeks the album will be FREE ? the catch being that users must ?befriend Textango?. Pennywise lead vocalist Jim Lindberg said, "We can also potentially expose our music and message to people around the world who may have never had the opportunity to hear it because they either couldn't afford to buy a CD or they didn't have access to music outlets or good distribution." Physical copies of the album will be distributed by MySpace Records. Digital copies will be sold on the MySpace website via mobile content company Textango.
