Brando 3-Port Hub + Mini-USB Cable is Useful [Peripherals]

Brando has given the quirky R&D team the week off. In the meantime, they've actually got the innovative group into replace them, and the new clan has come up with something that's actually useful—a three socket USB hub, with a USB charging cable. The two nice features here are 1). The price point of $12 and 2). The fact that there is no need for an external power supply. Instead, the hub will connect to both USB ports on your laptop and draw enough power to charge up a device via USB mini cable, whilst simultaneously offering up 3 non-powered ports. So, you lose two ports, but gain three and one power positive cable—Kreb's cycle, eat your heart out. [Brando via Gadgetell]

Guns don't kill people, terrible peripherals do - SendMeRSS

Guns don't kill people, terrible peripherals doFiled under: Peripherals, Controller Even with its folding clutch and laser sight (requires 2 x AAA batteries, not included), the WiiMAX isn't impressing anyone. Actually, those two selling points only add on to our suspicions that this light gun was assembled out of whatever plastic bits were available in the factory. That front grip? Leftover umbrella handles. The attachable scope? Grabbed from a surplus of toilet paper holders. Is there even a purpose for that folding handle? How are you supposed to pull the Wii remote's trigger if you're holding onto the grip? And whose idea was it to price this crapcessory at $21.17? Bring a roll of TP past the break for more photos of the WiiMAX. Is that Wii on the box's top-right corner giving us a thumbs up? Why, yes, it is![Via Technabob]Permalink | -;Email this | Linking B-logs | Comments Ads by Google Link - Comments - Eric Caoili - Mon, 03 Mar 200...

Diagrams for wacky Wii remote peripheralsFiled under: Peripherals, Controller var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/nintendo/Diagr-ams_for_Wacky_Wii_remote_Periph-erals'; Third-party accessory manufacturers aren't the only ones coming up with ridiculous things to attach your Wii remote onto! A recent patent application posted at the European Patent Office's site reveals some of the crazy peripherals Nintendo dreamed up to explain the controller's potential, like the goggles shown above. ThinkGeek's Wii Helm seems like a respectable, thought-out product, compared to this silly idea. Wouldn't that unbalanced weight give you a sore neck after a minute of wearing this headpiece? And there are much zanier diagrams in the application document -- Wii remotes in racing helmets, bike pedals, skateboard wheels, and teddy bears! How would this stuff even work? There are also drafts for a docking station and the old shotgun-design Zapper (the GameCube and wireless receiver demonstrating the...

Mad Catz working on Rock Band peripherals - SendMeRSS
2008-01-04 22:55:00
Mad Catz working on Rock Band peripheralsFiled under: NewsMad Catz has announced that the company is creating a suite of new instruments for Rock Band. The products will be officially licensed by MTV Games to work with the game, so have no fear about compatibility issues. Specifically, the company will be creating wired and wireless bass guitars, a wired microphone, and drums with "professional wooden drum sticks." Also mentioned alongside the instruments is the somewhat more ambiguous phrase "other products." We imagine things like instrument skins and the like, but it's possible other products could include other things like effects pedals and whatnot. Peculiarly, the press release specifically identifies the guitars as bass guitars. We're not sure exactly what that means, perhaps the guitars will ship without the extra solo buttons found on the official guitar? Whatever the case, the Mad Catz peripherals should hit the market in the first half of 2008.Oh, and it's probably saf...

Wii Peripherals For The Murderer In You
2007-11-28 07:31:00
I came across a few Nintendo Wii add-ons that are (to me) pretty funny. The first is a somewhat copy of Nintendo's own Wii Zapper, except the Wii Infrared Laser Magnum Gun is more realistic, and has a little cheat device implemented in it. With the built in, not only can you shoot Wii ducks with a semi-realistic gun, but you can do it in style with a laser pen attached. I think I am missing the point of it, but it seems to me like it would be useless...especially at a price of $20.The second I saw was the Wii Z Sword Remote. With this bad boy you can hack and slash your way through your favorite games, literally. Both these products seem kind of odd to me, but what do I know, I have only played the Wii once. Though, the gun seems like a cool idea, but I mean come on, is the laser guide really necessary?Thank you for subscribing to my blog!
