2008-07-14 10:14:00 It's going to be the quest for a good pork green chili recipe. I tried it again this past weekend, with similar results to last time: tastes pretty good, too liquidy. I'm going to figure this out if it kills me (which it probably will).The first time I ended up mixing in flour, which gave me big clumps of congealed pork fat and flour floating in the chili. Unappetizing. This time I opened the cupboard to find the flour bag full of ants. That might have given it some more consistency, but I'm not that brave an eater.Any tips, world? In lieu of presents, Jaclyn agreed to let us take up donations for Defenders of Wildlife to support the animals who need help. We made a lavish feast, had a wonderful, lively clown, and about 15 ecstatic children at our humble party. Fun was had by all. We set up a display on the buffet with a piggy bank for donations. We put the piggy bank on a fleece Defenders of Wildlife throw, along with a copy of the Defenders magazine and a lovely wolf print. We made a sign that read, ?Thank you for your donation to Defenders of Wildlife in Jaclyn?s honor.? Today we counted the take, and we raised $130 for Defenders! (And thankfully, have no kid?s toys that will eventually wind up in a landfill.) 2008-06-08 05:16:00 It's duan wu jie or dragon boat festival again and if my memory serves me right, this time last year we were in Ningbo and planning to stay there for a while. So a year has passed since the time we had packed up our bags and relocated. Many things have happened since then and of course the most significant is the birth of Micah :)All in all we had a wonderful experience living in Ningbo coupled with the traveling within China and also back and forth Malaysia plus a trip to Australia as well. In all that time we've met new friends as well as old.We are nomads since we've sold our house in Malaysia and haven't yet settled down anywhere. For the moment I am in Kuala Lumpur while David shuttles between here and Ningbo for work. When Micah is about 3 months old, I think we will join David in Ningbo where I guess, we'll be experiencing another year in China with new challenges.
