Razzball Historical Spotlight: Pete Rose (1983)
2008-05-07 21:49:00
Pete Rose. He’s like an Energizer Bunny wrapped in a bad haircut inside a moral vacuum. On one hand, Charlie Hustle. On the other hand, Degenerate Hustler. On one hand, All-Time Hit Leader. On the other hand, All-Time Full of Shit Leader. On one hand, he ran over Ray Fosse in an All-Star Game. On the other hand, he ran ...
Pete Rose - Cincinnati Reds
2008-04-30 03:30:00
Back in March, while in Las Vegas, I saw Pete Rose at Caesars Palace signing autographs. He didn’t look all too happy to be there. Perhaps it was because there was nobody in line to get his signature. Or maybe he’s still angry he was never inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York ...

PETE ROSE ?THEY?RE MAKING A MOCKERY OF THE GAME?
2007-12-19 07:19:00
Before the Mitchell Report was released there was news the Mitchell investigators had asked about Pete Rose. That was dumb because everybody knows the only juice the hit king deals with is of the bookmaker variety. During the taping of Wednesday night’s Sports Unfiltered with Dennis Miller, Pete got a chance to speak on the ...
Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe - Thank Bud Selig - Today is Your Day!
2007-12-15 10:38:00
First, let me say that I hate Pete Rose. He was a great player, but he was also a lying, cheating scumbucket, in my opinion. He disgraced the game, and he was exiled. Shoeless Joe Jackson was a great player, a little thick between the ears, and went along with the gang on the game fixing during the
MITCHELL INVESTIGATORS ASK ABOUT PETE ROSE
2007-12-01 06:23:00
George Mitchell’s steroid investigation findings are the other shoe waiting to drop. Everybody knows it’s coming, but nobody knows when. Names are supposedly gonna be revealed, so MLB’s gonna have to figure out a way to sweep the report under a rug before next season. Hopefully Bud Selig has been taking notes from David Stern ...
NBA Ref May Have Bet on Own Games [J. Mark English]
2007-07-20 15:38:00
I recall Jeff Van Gundy a few years ago being muzzled for complaining that it was as if the Rockets were being treated unfairly by refs because they were trying to affect the outcome. Van Gundy was fined for throwing out such suggestions with out any proof. And now this story from Murray Weiss of the New York Post comes out:THE FBI is investigating an NBA referee who allegedly was betting on basketball games - including ones he was officiating during the past two seasons - as part of an organized-crime probe in the Big Apple, The Post has learned. The investigation, which began more than a year ago, is zeroing in on blockbuster allegations that the referee was making calls that affected the point spread to guarantee that he - and the hoods who had their hooks in him - cashed in on large bets. Federal agents are set to arrest the referee and a cadre of mobsters and their associates who lined their pockets, sources said. "These are dangerous people [the referee] was involved with,"...
The right thing to do with Pete Rose
2007-03-17 21:37:00
In an interview on ESPN Radio on Wednesday, former Reds player and manager Pete Rose once again admitted that he bet on baseball on a daily basis. Yes, he only bet on them to win, which is different, and yet the same, as just betting on baseball. He also said in the interview that he longer cares

Pete Rose, "I bet on my team every night."
2007-03-15 17:05:00
Pete Rose bet on theCincinnati Reds "every night" when he managed them and, despite his lifetime ban because of gambling, would like another chance in a major league dugout. "I bet on my team every night. I didn't bet on my team four nights a week," Rose said Wednesday on "The Dan Patrick Show"
Pete Rose: Bad Gambler, Great Manager
2007-03-15 16:47:00
Charlie Hustle finally finished coming clean yesterday when he admitted he bet on Reds games "every night" while he managed them.  Now I’m going to assume Pete wasn’t taking his team as runline dogs and hoping they’d only lose by 1 run to cover his bet.  No, judging by this quote I’d say he took ...
The Ides of Pete Rose - The Admission
2007-03-15 16:18:00
Well, this topic was touched on the “Hits Keeping Coming” Radio Show last night, but I missed posting about it since I was too busy planning for the radio show, plus dealing with my every day. All-time hits header, Pete Rose mentioned later on the radio yesterday that he bet on the Reds "every night" while he was manager of the team. That admission would be in line with that the Dowd Report said, as well as investigations done. He spoke Wednesday with Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann on ESPN Radio’s the “Dan Patrick Show” to discuss the new Pete Rose exhibit that will be on display at the Great American Ballpark as part of the Reds Hall of Fame; however, his admission seemed to just come out of the blue during the show. Soundclip: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/n-ews/story?id=2798498# "I bet on my team every night. I didn't bet on my team four nights a week. I was wrong," Rose said. Rose said that he believed in his team so much that he bet on them to win every night. ...

He asserted on the Mike and the Mad Dog Show on WFAN: "You're asking me what my sincere feeling is. I want to 100 percent stay in New York. Period. That's it. I don't know ...
