Now, I have a Master?s degree and a graduate certification in the physiology of addiction, but I?m no pharmacology expert. To answer your questions or inform my writing, I do my research like anybody else, by reading textbooks, medical journals and bookmarking educational sites online. However, the world of pharma is one that is constantly evolving?new research, new theories, new theorists, new uses for old drugs?and it?s difficult to keep up with everything. One way to do it is to subscribe to news feeds, of course, but there?s nothing like a college student, medical student or grad student to bring a certain sarcasm and skepticism to the business of drug-making, buying and prescribing.

Pharmacology book scares me
2008-01-01 00:12:00
I had to purchase a pharmacology book today. This pharmacology book scares me. Two of my professors wrote this book. I was told from friends that ?he who writes the book for his own class will be a super difficult class.?Pharmacology itself sounds like a difficult class. One glance at this book and I started to panic. I?ll attempt to read some tonight. The price of the three-textbook package was $135, which is not that bad of a deal. I?ve read articles explaining the economics of college textbooks. I still don?t fully comprehend the reason why new editions are put on shelves annually with little change to the text. What makes me an unhappy person today is the fact that I had to drive to another school to get this book. Good deals online were rare and our own college does not contain this book. It was a long drive. I also ran over a huge puddle and it looks like I went off-road with a Corolla.

Amylin - Physiology and Pharmacology
2007-07-31 20:47:00
Book DescriptionDeciphers amylin's physiology and reveals previously unrecognized mechanisms fundamental to control body weight and fuel homeostasis. Also discusses therapeutic utility of amylin as the first new medicine to treat diabetes since insulin.*Provides a current comprehensive treatment of amylin the hormone*Identifies the majority of amylin's physiologic functions From the Back CoverBy 1994, researchers had progressed toward an understanding of amylin's function, and its therapeutic utility. Amylin's physiology has proven to be surprisingly more simple and elegant than originally conceived. Deciphering amylin's physiology has revealed previously unrecognized mechanisms, fundamental to the control of body weight and fuel homeostasis that are of general physiologic interest, and beyond an interest simply in the peptide itself. The propagation of this knowledge has been hindered by the entanglement of physiologic discovery with the high-risk business of drug development ...
