Pharming: Drive-by Pharming in the Wild
2008-01-30 06:01:00
"We recently saw instances of actual attackers attempting a basic version of drive-by pharming. Given the simplicity of the attack and the potential widespread implications, we always felt that it would simply be a matter of time before it happened. The building blocks have been out there for some time and anyone with sufficient familiarity ...

SCM te previene de ataques pharming
2007-07-18 00:00:00
Phishing and pharming
2007-07-06 08:07:00
Using a variety of nefarious methods, phishing and pharming are a consistent problem that threatens everyone with identity theft. If you recognize what these methods are and how malicious users employ them, you can keep yourself and your users from becoming a victim. A quick review Phishing involves sending an e-mail that claims to be a legitimate business in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information. Pharming involves the same goals with a different method; malicious users employ spyware, keyloggers, domain spoofing, domain hijacking, or domain cache poisoning to obtain personal or private (usually financial) information. To put it bluntly, criminals try to steal your identity by getting you to divulge financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords, and social security numbers. They sell this information, and it then becomes an identity theft crime. Recognize the methods The primary method for this crime is to send e-mails tha...

Cisco says 77 of its routers open to drive by pharming
2007-02-23 06:34:03
Cisco Systems Inc. is warning users that nearly 80 of its routers are vulnerable to a hack tactic that got play last week. Dubbed "drive by pharming" by Symantec Corp. and university researchers who first publicized the danger in a paper, the attack involves luring users to malicious sites where a device’s default password is used to redirect them to bogus sites. Once they are at those sites, their identities could be stolen or malware could be force-fed to their computers. In an advisory posted Thursday, Cisco listed 77 vulnerable routers in the lines sold to small offices, home offices, branch offices and telecommuters. The advisory recommended that users change the default username and password required to access the router’s configuration settings, and disable the device’s HTTP server feature. Security Experts Warn of Drive By Pharming Attacks
2007-02-19 06:25:02
With traditional pharming, an attacker redirects a user from a legitimate Web site to a bogus Web site that contains malicious code. Pharming attacks can be executed by either changing the host file on a victim's PC or manipulating a domain name system (DNS) server. Drive by pharming takes this strategy one step further...
