Kizuna Satellite Internet Is The Answer
2008-05-22 08:59:00 I've been eagerly awaiting the commercial launch of Japan's Kizuna satellite that will provide satellite internet for the Asia Pacific Region. At this time, DSL is the most popular internet connection we have in the Philippines. It's not perfect (a gross understatement) but it gets the job done. Although a lot of folks are already quite content with what's currently available. I do think that things can be a lot better. I've been to a few countries outside of the Philippines and some of these countries although smaller in size have internet connections that can only make me drool. Some folks have been proclaiming the advent of fiber optics as the savior of the internet in these parts but I sincerely doubt that it would work in this country. Haven't we had enough of all those diggings and the overhanging wires that actually makes the Metro look like a wired jungle? I do think that the solution will come from heaven-- via satellite internet.Advantages of Satellite Internet...

Call Centers Going Eco-friendly in the Philippines
2008-05-21 18:48:00 Call centers would usually originate from India or in the Philippines. Of the two, admittedly the Philippines is the slower developing nation when it comes to green awareness. But if this country is to start this eco-friendly practice, it all starts with one step and that is perhaps the concept that Convergys Corp. had in made when it declared that its expansion centers included one call center location that will be eco-friendly. “Nuvali itself is being groomed into an eco-friendly community by the Ayalas,” said Jomari Mercado, business development director for Convergys Philippines. “Our facility will use solar panels, and the developers also plan to harness solar power to provide electricity for public premises including streetlamps.” A man-made lake is also being constructed to take advantage of rainfall as a water resource. Pagsanjan Falls
2008-05-20 03:09:00 The famous Pagsanjan Falls is located in Brgy. Anglas, Cavinti, Laguna, which is a popular day-trip about 100 km SE of Manila near the town of Santa Cruz. Aside from the view of the falls itself, its main attraction is the raft ride. Skilled raft men will bring tourists aboard bamboo rafts by pulling on ropes laid across the lagoon for only Php70.00. It?s really nice to be at the far end to have a glimpse of another cascade on top of the Main Falls. Slow and meandering with homes and palms crowding the banks covers the lower part of the river. With a rainforest canopy, it does not take long before the river valley turns into a deep gorge and the quiet waters become cascading rapids. In order to get there, take a ride via the South Luzon Expressway, from Manila. go around the cloverleaf to reach Calamba after you reached Canlubang Exit. Then from Calamba, follow the provincial road passing Los Banos, Bay, Victoria, Pila, Sta. Cruz and finally Pagsanjan. Going to the Pagsanjan Falls i...

Philippines Ranks 40th in Business Survey, Merton Miller Quote, Entrepreneu
2008-05-16 11:27:00 Picture this: You are a Filipino student in an international MBA class. Every one of your 54 classmates is from a different country. Your professor gave the class an assignment. You have to research on how well your country can create and maintain the competitiveness of businesses. He wanted you to know more about your country’s economic performance, government laws and practices, business policies and procedures, and infrastructure. After all the research papers were turned in, your professor ranked the 55 countries. He posted the rankings on the wall for everyone to see. Your American classmate came first with… “I can’t speak for them, of course, but I believe that most economists would accept the view that, while you sometimes can make a score by sheer luck, you can’t do it constantly, unless you’re willing to put the resources in.†— American economist Merton Miller, (May 15, 1923 - June 3, 2000), shared the Nobel Prize for his contributions to financial economic...
The Chocolate Hills
2008-05-16 05:18:00 Bohol's most famous tourist attraction probably is Chocolate Hills. The hills are an unusual geological formations look like giant mole hills, or as some say, women's breasts, and remind us of the hills in a small child's drawing. The hills are around 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills of about the same size, which are spread over an area covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season. That is actually behind the name- Chocolate Hills. Some people hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. The hills symbolize the abundance of natural attraction in the province. In order to get there, from Tagbilaran, you will have to go the integrated bus terminal in Dao and catch a bus going to Carmen. People will point you to the right bus at the entrance of the bus terminal. You have to ask the driver to drop you off at the Chocolate Hills complex, which is about 4 kilometers before the town of Carmen. And from that point it is a 10 minute walk along a road windi...

Globe might brings iPhone in the Philippines
2008-05-14 23:08:00 Recently, I've read an announcement from Globe that they have signed an agreement with Apple to bring iPhone to the Philippines. (Actually, I've read it from PMT: http://www.pinoymoneytalk.com then from Globe's website: http://www1.globe.com.ph/). Actually, there's a lot of iPhone, hacked iPhones in the Philippines that is currently sold and used by "can afford" cellphone lovers out there.I checked also on the site of Smart and search if they have also planning something on Apple's iPhone but I did not find anything. This only means that possibly Globe will be the exclusive network that can be used in original unhacked iPhones. I hope, if this happens, if iPhone will be available in the Philippines,Globe makes it lesser expensive because the usual price of this unit on some resellers here in the Philippines is about 30K to 35K or about $715 to $834. I'm currently a Smart user and if I can afford it, if iPhone will be available in the Philippines, I might change my netw...
