From Neatorama: Once in a Blue Moon: A neat description of "not very often," it refers to the second full moon within a month - a rare thing indeed. Full moons happen about every 29.5 days, and since a typical month runs between 30 to 31 days, the likelihood of two in a month is sl
12 Words and Phrases That Automatically Kill Your Self Image
2008-07-28 17:50:00
My mother was out of the country for a while and came last Thursday. We had a lot to catch up on. Once she finished relating her part of the world, I started giving an update of my life. After sometime, out of the blue, she made a rather alarming comment. Apparently, while I was talking she had counted the number of times I used the word ?like? (I am too embarrassed to mention the number!). My initial reaction was to deny it. My mind said, ?Yeah mum, nice to have you back!?. As I continued the conversation, every time I said the word ?like? she would also say it; over and over again. It sounded funny and we both started giggling. Painfully, I had to admit it. She was right; I was repeatedly using the word "like". The problem is none of us say these words intentionally. Some people don?t even notice they are even doing it (if my mother hadn?t pointed out, I would either). It has become a habit. So I did some reading on the subject and thought of sharing what I learned.Dangerous Word...

Check it out!!! I?m so excited. I have wanted to place a vinyl phrase above my sliding doors for some time now. There are so many great sayings out there it was hard to decide. I ordered this one on Ebay. I know it is a common phrase, but I needed something with large letters since I was placing it up high. It had to be easy to read. Besides I love the meaning behind the words. If you are thinking of doing something similar just know it is EASY to apply! I am thrilled with how it turned out.The question now is how long will it take my husband to notice it?

5 Phrases I’m Going To Use Today
2008-02-07 12:13:00
If you haven’t noticed, I’m a goal setter. I like to grab life by the Funyons. (BTW, do they still make Funyons? Or what about Bugles? Remember those? I used to like them until I ate a handfull of stale bugles at my grandfather’s house. Trust me, when you bite into a bugle, you want some crunch. Soft bugles are the design of Lucifer!) Now getting back to my goal setting, I’ve decided that my repertoire of vocabulary gems is growing weak. So in order to improve my daily life, here are 5 phrases that I will incorporate into my life today: 1. TWO TOWNS OVER. This is a fun one. When someone asks you where you’ve been or where you got that, this is a great line to use. For example: Passerby: Hey, where did you get that Discman with 6 seconds of shock protection? ME: I got it at a yard sale, TWO TOWNS OVER! 2. GUMPTION. I think I know what it means, but I’m too lazy to Google it. I think it means you have heart, but who cares. Either way...

CHURCH WORDS & RELIGIOUS PHRASES THAT I DON'T LIKE
2008-01-29 14:36:00
Here are a few phrases I hear periodically that just don't make sense to me..."LORD, WE HOPE WE'VE DONE THIS IN A WORTHY AND PLEASING MANNER." I understand what's being prayed when we say this, and I'll be the first to say, "Let's do things respectful and right," but sometimes I think we think that God's going to strike us dead if our minds wonder during worship? Maybe we think God will bar-b-que us for forgetting the words to a song? Is God just looking for a chance to catch us doing something wrong? Have we beat people up with the story of Nadab and Abihu so much that we're living in constant fear of our Father? How sad! Why do we enter His throne room as frightened children with our head down, afraid to make eye contact? Is God not pleased to see & hear His children? Are we not to, "Approach the throne of grace with confidence?" Hebrews 4:16. WAKE UP people. He's your Father, and He loves you. He's not a task master with a whip looking to beat you!"THE LESSON OF THE ...
