Our evening walks often take us past this eatery and it always appeared that it was well visited. Online reviews also promised a good meal. Metered parking is available on Pier Avenue. You can also find free parking at times behind the library located across the street. That is where we parked. An unusually warm evening for the coastal area of Los Angeles brought out many people out to the Hermosa streets. I actually wanted to go in the early morning but it was unwise to jog without sleep.I took my lunch really late and even though I set off near sunset, I felt the stiff on my intestine at the start. I managed to press on till my destination but timing was really bad. The place was more crowded than usual, which was not a good timing.I took a walk at the front of the restaurant at the second storey called “Pier Eleven”. It was the first time the staff handed me their namecard, which I quite liked the clean design. Maybe I should try it in future.I could not stay as long as previous times since it was already very late. I dragged on my feet on the return path. 2008-02-25 09:30:00 Navy Pier is a 3,300-foot (1,010 m) long pier on the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan. The pier was built in 1916 at a cost of $4.5 million; it was a part of the Plan of Chicago developed by architect and city planner Daniel Burnham and his associates. As Municipal Pier #2 (Municipal Pier #1 was never built), Navy Pier was planned and built to serve as a mixed-purpose piece of public infrastructure. Its primary purpose was as a cargo facility for lake freighters, and warehouses were built up and down the pier. However, the pier was also designed to provide docking space for passenger excursion steamers, and in the pre-air conditioning era parts of the pier, especially its outermost tip, were designed to serve as cool places for public gathering and entertainment.
