I vowed then and there, that I would re-create her take on the Cornish pastie, as soon as possible. Of course upon re-reading the recipe, I realized that it would take a bit of extra effort on my part, because her pastry recipe called for lard. To my knowledge I'd never seen lard in any grocery store in the Netherlands and I had to dig deep into the less used pockets of my Dutch vocabulary to fish out the Dutch word for lard (reuzel), in order to even be able to call up my local organic butcher to ask if he had any. 2008-02-09 09:00:00 Ingredients: pastry 8 sheets ready prepared & rolled shortcrust pastry 2 sheets ready prepared and rolled puff pastry 1 tablespoon milk 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten filling: 2 teaspoons oil 1 onion, chopped 1 kg minced beef 1 1/2 cups beef stock 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon tomato puree 1 tablespoon cornflour 2 tablespoons water Method: To make the filling heat a frying pan over medium high heat. Add oil and onion and cook until soft. Add mince and cook until brown. Add stock, Worcestershire sauce and tomato puree and simmer for 6-8 minutes. Mix cornflour and water to a paste and stir into meat mixture. Stir until mixture boils and thickens then place in a bowl and leave to cool. Preheat oven to 180 degrees cut 8 x 15cm circles (cut round a small plate or saucer) from the shortcrust pastry and line 8 x 8cm (base measurement) pie dishes. This was made public by the proud baker last Tuesday. The giant cake weighed a stunning 3000 kilos and measured a 10 meter diameter. To produce this monster the baker had to use at least 5600 eggs, 110 liters of Kirschwasser liquor, 700 liters of whipped cream and 800 kilos of cherries. It appears the pie was made in 2006 for a theme park in Southern Germany, but received official notice in the Guinness book just this week. 2008-01-10 19:27:00 Desde hace una temporada, el gobierno holandés está bloqueando el canon que se aplicaba sobre los reproductores MP3 tras comprobar que la organización de músicos y actores Norma, que era la encargada de gestionar los ingresos que tal situación comportaba, no estaba distribuyendo el dinero eficientemente. Tal decisión provocó que esta entidad gestora de los derechos de autor llevara al ejecutivo ante los tribunales con la esperanza de que estos les dieran la razón, obligara a los políticos a dar marcha atrás en su posicionamiento inicial y les permitiera seguir recaudando el dinero proviniente del gravamen que se aplicaba sobre estos dispositivos. Pero resulta que cuando ya se las prometían muy felices, un tribunal de La Haya ha venido a chafarles la fiesta dictaminando que el gobierno tiene la potestad de paralizar la imposición del canon sobre los reproductores MP3 en caso de que tenga dudas sobre el funcionamiento interno de la entidad que lo recauda. Reservas de gas del Perú aumenten a 20 trillones de pies cúbicos
2008-01-03 22:47:00 El presidente de la República, Alan GarcÃa, afirmó hoy que las reservas probadas de gas natural en el Perú podrÃan llegar a 20 trillones de pies cúbicos (TCF) con los resultados que se esperan obtener en los trabajos exploratorios que se realizan cerca a la zona del yacimiento de Camisea।“Estamos a la espera de que los lotes gasÃferos cercanos a Camisea nos entreguen sus resultados para elevar de 13.4 trillones quizás hasta 20 trillones las reservas del Perú, lo cual dará seguridad a nuestra patria por los próximos 50 o 60 añosâ€, indicó.En la vÃspera la empresa Pluspetrol informó al Ministerio de EnergÃa y Minas (MEM) que las reservas probadas de gas natural de Camisea de los lotes 88 y 56 (Pagoreni) se elevaron de 10.86 a 13.40 TCF a diciembre del 2007, lo que representa un incremento de 23.38 por ciento.Cabe señalar que cerca al yacimiento de Camisea está el Lote 57 donde la empresa hispano argentina Repsol YPF ha encontrado gas natural y en uno o dos meses...
